Re: Bitcoin Is Not Really A Good Money
by

For me, though, I look at Bitcoin not just as a currency, but what it could do in the future in other applications. Think of the Bitcoin technology as a way to exchange and verify ownership. It’s like getting into your car with your smartphone. You present cryptographic proof of ownership. You’re the owner, and it’s verified through this common ledger. The car is able to identify that it is your car, and so the car starts. You’re done.

Re: Why we should fear a cashless world

In a total collapse, people might accept silver but I'm not sure constitutional silver is going to do you any good. The average person can't tell the difference between a silver quarter and the silver plated coins we have today and even if they can, what makes you think anyone will trust it more than the money that just collapsed? Sure, you can make arguments all day long but I'm not sure it's a sure thing as it's still just symbolic and has no real use in the day to day. On the other hand, gasoline, food, ammunition, and medicine are useful in any scenario. My first gut reaction is to figure out how to create antibiotic ointment in my basement as this would be a very valuable skill. This, however, only works in a stationary scenario where people trust or can see that your antibiotics actually work and you're not selling snake oil. Hundreds of pounds of food is also problematic if you're on the move.

Re: What would happen if Bitcoin became a legal currency?
by

Don't panic & buy fixed fiat amount worth of BTC in fixed periods. This should be your main plan - it shields you from volatility and it allows you also to get into good security practices before you accumulate a big sum. You can direct it into BTC, too - but be sure you don't spend anything that you can't afford to lose. BTC can go to $200-$300 overnight, your backups can be destroyed in fire or your computer could be hacked and your BTCs could be stolen.

Re: Bitcoin: Best investment in 2017?

Could you make a lot of money…yes, but there could also be a vulnerability in the currency, the marketplace, or your wallet. Any of these or even regulation or reclassification could make it worthless. There are safer speculation vehicles if you think the economy is going to tank.

Re: Why Is Bitcoin's Value So Volatile?
by
Melissa95
on 29/09/2017, 08:13:22 UTC
Bitcoin’s value is dependant on the intensity of demand and supply there is. The demand is a market factor. The intensity with which the market needs the commodity fuels the demand aspect. Supply however is a limited factor within the Bitcoin economy since the number of bitcoins there can exist within the network is limited to 21 Million. This often causes a difference between the buying and the selling price. To answer your question, there isn’t any actual set price for a Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin is a balance between what price someone is willing to trade with to part from the Bitcoin and what someone is ready to pay to acquire it.
Bitcoin exchanges and companies that transact using bitcoins determine a lower and a upper limit around what a person in possession of Bitcoin is willing to sell it for and what a person is willing to pay in order to acquire it.
A price is determined after setting upper and lower limits between a seller and a buyer. A price is determined between the limits based on a pricing strategy that the company(exchange) employs.

Re: Why not just print dollars?

Now, when the government runs a budget deficit they are essentially “printing” bonds and adding them to the private sector.  This adds to the net financial assets of the private sector because the non-government sector has a higher net worth.  This can correctly be referred to as “bond printing”, but it is not the common way that people discuss “money printing” as is usually referred to in discussions about QE and Central Banking.

Re: bitcoin prices go to the moon?
by

It’s difficult to determine a cyclical effect of Moon phases on the market. What is clear from the chart below is that significant market highs and lows coincide with Full and New moons. Market esoterica such as “Sell on the New Moon, Buy when it’s Full” seem to have a statistical chance of getting traders and investors in and out of the market at reversal points. However, as seen in the Bitcoin price chart the maxim does not hold true in all cases.

Re: Coins with Masternode?
by

on 09/09/2017, 08:54:46 UTC
Masternodes are part of the infrastructure of certain crypto currencies. They are interesting to speculators because they offer yield. This yield is denominated in the underlying crypto currency. Masternodes earn this yield because they provide services to the cryptocurrency infrastructure.

At this time the main role of masternodes is sending coins anonymously and instantly in addition to mining. These services add value to the users, create more security for the masternode network and decentralise the node network.

got it the summer of 2014. I leave it out in the sun either on the dashboard or work forklift, and have had it dunked in caustic at work. my only problem with it is the side holder for the 3x credit cards broke off recently due to wear and tear. Other then that, i really think it is a very well built wallet and will end up getting more.

Currently, the Russian Ministry of Finance also limits Bitcoin to a full-scale citizen development and promulgates regulations that only allow qualified investors to trade Bitcoin. The altcoin market is shrinking

I feel like we will find new opportunity to invest in new coins. Chinese panic may help people from all other nations. It will help bitcoin in biggest way anyways.
But China has a huge impact on the altcoin market. Finding new coins is good but with the current situation is still unstable

100% Ripple coin. More aiming to get into advanced and everyday industry.

Already got large contracts/backing. Plus looking to get more.

Price has increased high but steadily since contracts signed with banks.

That's my opinion
I also choose ripple. It is safer than other coin
