Re: Best BTC Pool for ASIC USB STICK MINING ?
by

on 24/07/2013, 05:34:29 UTC
I'm using noob-friendly Bitminter on a Mac -- one USB as an experiment -- and getting 0.0087 BTC / 24h.

Thats about dead on.  Will take years for ROI. But oh well.

Please take this as a face value question: Have you ever studied discrete mathematics?
No, should I say.  "You'll never get ROI?"  I believe BTC will go way up in price.  Therefore ROI is possible.

I agree that ROI is possible, but in many ways.
More specifically what I referring to was the concepts of overlapping ROI, resulting in reinvestment of most of the mined coins.  Cool

I'm amazed at how many people here don't read... it's a little depressing considering this is a forum (which, by its very nature, requires reading).

Whilst I agree with the reading issue, perhaps you could change the title to help our special newbies.

https://www.btcguild.com/index.php?page=store They are only BTC1.05 including shipping for US customers.

+1
I ordered some when they were out of stock, it took less than 12 business days for them to restock and ship my order; not bad for such a bull market item.

Icarus commands - Please Help
by
Mikeologist
on 17/07/2013, 03:04:41 UTC
I am new to asics and their commands
My block eruptors use commands that start with icarus
I know that there is:
-options args[baudrate : number of controllers : chips per controller] <-timing args[3.0 = 100] <
also:
Is there a dynamic timing setting?
What are the know speed settings?
What other commands (such as options and timing) exist?

I have tried to sift through this forum but have been unable to find this topic elsewhere.

Thanks for the help

2.53 Gh/s using qty 4 7970's and cgiminer

Total power consumption is around 940 Watts

What CPU are your using?
What is the core clock setting for your GPUs?
You must not be pushing them to the max, or you'd be using more power.

Pure curiosity:
How can one be sure a coin is funded?
How can one use this coin for an online transaction, if say 10 were collected?
Forgive my ignorance; point me to a thread and I will read it myself.
Thanks

From the auction:

Quote
For every 1K under 25K on the final sales price will cause a delay in shipping by one week. Please do not bid if you have a problem with this!

Creative, but really?

I'm not sure you can actually do that and not violate EBAY ToS...

I guess it did, the item is gone.
I was going to buy it for whatever it took.

Re: Anyone have issues jumping PSU after power loss?
by
Mikeologist
on 19/06/2013, 14:27:54 UTC
It might be the circuit protection kicking in - I have exactly the same issue.

To reset the "breaker" you have to kill power to the PSU then it will start up again.

Do you know what caused the power loss? Or are they just cutting out?

If they are just cutting out then it is overload.

oh no it was me switching configurations around, it may not be an issue with an actual power loss due to longer length

jw if anyone had a cleaver way of fixing this cheap

If you are having trouble restarting your PS after a shut down; the only likely issue that I can point to is your 5V reserve rail.
This rail is responsible for the power standby necessary to start the PC.
It is also the first rail to take damage when you overtax your system: usually, through a ground imbalance.
This means that you are overdoing it. If you have an 850W PS, you only want to use 680ish or less for video cards.

It is likely fixable, but way beyond your capabilities (no offence). May be worth it if you could fix it, but not worth it to pay.

Unfortunately, like a $2 whore when your're done, You're Done!

Are they under warranty?

around 580 - 1x Lancelot FPGA + 1x 6850 running at the moment. Got some issues with my 2x 6870 Cards sitting in my rig right now, cant get them to do more than 25-30MH/s .. Sad

The problem is your drivers.
Easy fix; uninstall the entire amd suite through the catalyst control panel uninstall in ad/remove or whatever.
Restart the machine and reinstall.
I have to do this every once in a while, whilst tuning a rig.

Why do I have to be restricted to the newb section before I can make a real post?

Interestingly, you answered your own question.

he said handed out, so no charge imho

All the best scams begin with a free giveaway  Undecided
But if someone receives it?

That is often part of the scam.
Imagine this:
You have access to 10 or so widgets; each of which is worth $100.
You give the 10 widgets away and promise to sell your falsely inflated stock at $40 per.
Every dumb*ss in the world preorders at $40 per plus S&H, because there has never been a deal like that and they know of people who have actually received these widgets, and for $40 they kick some serious *ss.
Meanwhile, our friend with the low post count, who has been paid in BTC, just sits back and relaxes with your cash because most countries do not have laws against stealing BTC yet.

No such thing as a free lunch, even if it is sitting right in front of you.

Ok, I have RPC miner and a bitcoin wallet setup.  I thought I did everything right but I keep getting this...

"No blocks are being hashed right now.  This can happen if the application is
still starting up, you supplied incorrect parameters, or there is a
communications error connecting to the RPC server"

Host = http://api.bitcoin.cz
server port = 8332

any ideas?

Thanks so much in advance

What kind of rig are you running? You may not want to solo mine at all.

I'm running a mac pro with two ATI5770 cards.  I've done the whole pool thing but I'm kind of in the all or nothing phase right now.  I may cycle back around to pool mining but I wanted to get this up and running just as a curiosity.  Again guys, thanks for the posts.  I appreciate the community support.

Two things:
1) If you want to mine on a mac you should use boot camp to boot into windows or linux; macs are awful at mining.
2) If you get this online as a solo miner, you will not even reomtely have a chance of finding a block within the first 32 months, at current difficulty, considering 800MH/s; even then, luck must be on your side.
