Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners

Trying to set up a new mining software as in the managed software section of the AW help website. I can make it work by specifying the path to the mining software on any particular rig but that means making a separate template for each rig. How can I set things so that one template will work for all rigs? I tried putting the miner software in the same folder as all of AW's miners but that doesn't seem to help.

Re: Motherboard and GPUs

The risers fitted with the molex 4 pin connector take +12V and +5V from the molex. The risers fitted with the 6 pin power connector only get +12V from the connector so need an on board regulator to produce the +5V needed by the GPU. The 6 pin type is best suited for when you have a separate power supply for the GPU's as there is then no possibility of connecting 2 different power supplies to the GPU at once. The 6 pin types have more components on them to give the +5V supply and therefore have more scope for failure.

Nonsense. PCI-E GPU's only use 12V, which is what the PCI-E specification calls for. Up to 75 W though the PCI-E slot, 75 W through the 6-pin and 150 W through the 8-pin VGA power inputs. The voltage regulator on the 6-pin risers stabilizes the the 12V line to prevent spikes. It is NOT a transformer to convert 12V to 5V.

If you look at the pin connections of a PCI-e slot you will see that it also needs a +3.3V supply (I was wrong saying 5V it is 3.3V). All the 6 pin risers I have seen have more components fitted than the molex types. I can only think that it is easier to derive the 3.3V from a 5V line than it is from a 12V line.

Guys, I have another question here. MB comes with only 2 USB ports. I have kb, mouse and usb stick. Weird, but how you deal with 3 usb devices with 2 ports? Some kind of replicator?

A cheap passive USB hub will do for that.

Or get one of these neat little keyboard mouse radio units - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sonnics-Wireless-Rechargable-Multifunction-Raspberry/dp/B0152A76H2

My Onda 1800 just arrived from China. Just a motherboard in a bag, no box, no documentation, nothing else with it at all. Is that how they are normally shipped?

Re: How can I set up my own Proof of Stake Mining Rig?
by

Proof of stake is where you get rewarded for holding coins (usually bought). Proof of work is where coins are awarded for mining. Many of the recently launched coins are POS only and no mining is involved. Older coins tend to be POW only. Some coins change from POW to POS at some point. Just have to study the coins you are interested in to see how they operate.

Looking around I found the UQUID card which seems to be a suitable replacement

Not actually a Visa or Mastercard but if you can fund Paypal with it then it is almost as good.

Re: Bitcoin to PayPal GBP?

The UQUID card can take funding in a variety of cryptocurrencies and can be linked to your Paypal account as a source of funds.

Go here - https://uquid.com/account/register/a?u=UQ936161

Thank you. Would I send the bitcoin from blockchain to uquid.com, then to Paypal?

You will need to first create an account at UQUID and give them 2 proofs of identity. Once your account is authorised you can get a card which you can link to Paypal to draw funds from, much like a debit card. You would then load your card by paying in your cryptos. Have a look at the website it is all explained there.

The airdrop is not a real airdrop, it is more like a social bounty since it requires to advertise you on 3 different social networks. Please call things with their name.

This is true, what the OP is calling an airdrop is in fact a bounty.

Is there some reason why Ethminer is not included in AM? Or is it just not as good as Claymore for Ether?
