WOW ! Nice man.. look at that usb miner.. I wish I have that just for the start.. And the fan too, it's cute man.. Can I ask how much you spend to all of that ? What do you mine ? Bitcoin ? Can I use it for mining other crypto ?
Thanks.  Most of your questions are answered above, I should take an updated pict since I moved my 2nd gekko stick to this little usb nest and have a 2nd fan going, too.  This set-up dust mines bitcoin, but at current prices even dust has value now-a-days.  The A6 quoted above is no longer in use, however.

how are these profitable at all anymore?
Just for fun, as expensive as leaving a light bulb on.

agreed, but we now see two types of setup mostly: large-scale (10kw+, which i love to see) or those with just a small handful of antminers tucked in a corner. gone are the insane contractions with large, unstackable and varying equipment styles.

heres what my setup looked like about 1 year ago - before the 1w/GH gear started to be shut down and sold/dismantled. now i only have a single s7 in hosting and a few sp3x units i need to sell still

Quoted for your pict to show.

To comment on what you wrote, I think that very soon we are even going to stop seeing the small handful of miners pictures as well.  With the halving happened and diff continuing to rise it's going to be a world of only mega-mines very shortly.

Nice setup, impressive!  Is that in a closet or a dedicated server space?  Wish I had a closet like that at my house.  Cool

You forgot to plug in the S9s (or are they S7s?), they mine better if you plug them in.  Wink

Clean looking gear, thanks for sharing.

Only if Mikestang is up for a promotion,he "polices" the forum to get his badges quicker  Cheesy
I get that you have a difficult time reading, understanding, and following rules, but really I think you've posted more about me than I ever did about people posting non-btc stuff in a btc forum.

Well, when you are NOT a forum moderator but act like one over & over & over & over & over........... Roll Eyes
Jesus christ would you get over it?  It was f'ing MONTHS ago and I said something like twice, and a moderator supported what I said.  Do you know why?  Because I was right.  Go bang your head against a wall or something.

I've ignored you now, tired of your harrassment.

My A6 in a spare room in the house, but it's quickly getting too warm to run it inside.  Been running it only at night lately, but even that will stop soon.  I might move it to the garage if I can find a clean way to run the ethernet cable.

A Gekko stick and 6 nanofury sticks, just for fun.

My USB "mini farm".

  • Three gekkoscience compacs up top @ 262MHz for ~42GH/s
  • Four CryptoRig Hitchikers (nanofury) along side and two more in front out of photo @ 50bits for ~12GH/s
  • There is a usb fan at the bottom out of photo blowing up on all the sticks.  They're setup like this taped to the back of the tower case because of usb cable lengths used, and it gets the sticks out of the way.

I have the ac set to have the house at 67,
Holy cow, you keep your house like a refrigerator!  My AC is set to 78*, it would run 24/7 for almost the entire year at your temp!  Hell, my heater comes on at less than 73*...

not sure which would keep the miners cooler blowing air at them or removing the heat they output.
Priority 1 should be to remove the hot air, cool air supply should be #2.

    • 1x Antminer S1 with Super Flower Golden Green SF-500P14XE 500W
Nice set up, but I hope the S1 is undervolted, otherwise I can't see why running a S1 today would be worth it.  An S3 will use the same wattage as an S1.

I finally upgraded my solo lottery machine from an S3+ to an S5, the trade of 50% more power for 200%+ time the hash was well worth it.  My friend is 3D printing my fan ducts and upper and lower covers, but I did a few things in the mean time to hold me over.  It is in my laundry room that isn't being used right now, so noise really isn't too much of a concern, but I lowered the fan to 60% and it dropped 4dB (70dB to 66dB) and runs at a steady 1.15TH @ 53.5*C.

I folded up some tin foil and closed off the bottom of the unit.

I ordered a fan duct off ebay so that I could focus the exhaust out my dryer duct.

I'll adjust the height of my shelf better for the final setup, but for now I just angled the S5 slightly to get the ducts to line up.

All buttoned up.  The final setup will probably use the insulated tubing to connect the S5 to the vent and see if that makes it quieter as well.

I also have an brand new Delta AFB1212VHE in a drawer that I can use as a pull fan and lower the fan speed further for a few more dB as long as I don't oc it.

compared to the s7 heat output the output from the s5 is like a warm summer breeze.
Well with my laundry room set up heat and noise are not really a concern to me, but my electricity rates are so high here that I think the S5 is all I'm willing to pay for for this "hobby".  After I move and see what the rates are like I'll look at the S7 (also after there is a used market for them).  It's fun to me to have a pony in the race, even if it's just 1 vs. the herd.

My Avalon 6 in the same spot, using two 850w OCZ psus, one on each blade.  Solo mining at the moment, 3.7TH of awesomeness.  Cool

My 3D printed ducts should arrive today,

Oh, and here's an updated pict (before the A6 arrived) of my S5 with the 3D printed parts on (intake fan duct, top and bottom heat sink covers, I did not use the exhaust fan duct) and I added a pull fan.  I also got some clear acrylic side covers because they are neat.  At 400 freq and 60% fan setting it runs about 50-53*C.
