Re: How to make money
by
Millersonis
on 03/10/2023, 05:09:23 UTC
Get a job: One of the most straightforward ways to make money is to find a job that pays a salary or hourly wage. You can search for job openings online or in your local community.

Freelance or start a business: If you have a particular skill or expertise, you can offer your services as a freelancer or start your own business. This could include things like graphic design, writing, web development, tutoring, or consulting.

Invest: Investing your money can be a way to earn passive income. This could include investing in stocks, real estate, or mutual funds. However, it's important to do your research and understand the risks before investing your money.

Rent out your property: If you own a property, you could rent out a room or the entire property on platforms like Airbnb or VRBO.

Sell items online: You can sell items you no longer need or want on online marketplaces like eBay, Amazon, or Facebook Marketplace.

Thank you so much for telling me, I was just looking for that.

Re: THE OBVIOUS CHOICE FOR GAMING IS WEB3
by
Millersonis
on 25/09/2023, 03:32:51 UTC
The truth about gaming is players don't care which platform the game is running on, web 2 or 3 we don't care, we just need a better gaming experience, not those crazy web 3 projects that became beneficial only to early investors and early players, at one point it will become less profitable, new players won't earn anymore like the early players.
web 2 and web 3 or what ever people called it was actually BS. The main aim for the gaming in the crypto was play to earn mechanism. I have seen bunch of games in crypto but they have no users caused by the demand was coming from play to earn mechanism. I just wanna try to remind OP if he has beens scamming some of his participants who participated in the education bounty. Better to let him pay those who already participated. lol
Game has nothing to do with web 3 or whatever people called it
Awesome, thank you for giving me a good and detailed outline.

As we all know most of Nigeria populations are aware of Bitcoin. So I was thinking about how many of Nigeria's top politicians, musicians, and actors or comedians might be involved in Bitcoin or cryptocurrency. It was also interesting to wonder if some of these celebs are part of this forum too, but due to anonymity, no one can reveal their true identity.

The great thing about Bitcointalk is that everyone is treated equally regardless of their status (as long as you don't break the rules) which helps prevent intimidation. It's a place unlike our daily social medias. The main purpose of Bitcointalk, is to serve as a community for Bitcoiners and so we are not supposed to care if you are anybody out there.

Lol, Im just a wiredo  Grin If you happen to spot someone here who writes like a celebrity, feel free to give them a virtual nod or wink Wink
For me,

The only person I haven't seen yet is OBO, wizkid I guess some others might be here somewhere. but remember, shhh... we'll keep their secret safe in the world of Bitcointalk anonymity

I like the picture rep by CryptoHeadlineNews so I decided to add it to my thread (thanks)

Re: Why do you favor betting on spesific sport?
by
Millersonis
on 19/09/2023, 23:35:55 UTC
Predicting a champion in league is completely hard, but usually it's not away from the top 3 favorited teams. But I'd consider to bet on a match, not predicting the champion.

Not only the Champions league, predicting any sports isn't easy at all, because even games with low odds can lose, how many times we have seen our parlay lose by 1 match, it's really common.

Personally, I like to bet in UFC because the fights are fast, you don't need to be waiting a long time to see your bet results, and since it's a 1 vs 1 sport is common to win with the underdogs, you only need to see one good punch to turn the odds in your side.

Underdog winning all the time is not really true in combat sports like MMA or boxing. I have been a fan of UFC  for quite awhile and certainly the promotion knows how to handle which fighter needs to fight who so that the public can witness fair matches.

There's not much David vs  Goliath match in the UFC these days unlike the early phase of UFC where there is no weight division.
Even on other sports which weight division is something that should really be having because its really way too simple on betting up on those sports if ever this category wont really be that applied because the bigger and heavier would really be definitely be able to win but of course we do really have that underdog chances on beating up the favorites but we know that this doesnt happen all the time and something that you cant really
rely on to have this kind of betting behavior.

In the talks about betting on a certain sport on which you are knowledgeable then it is really just that a common approach or must be to be done. Gambling or betting is for fun and betting on the sport on which
you are completely that fully aware or does know its mechanics and does know teams is more entertaining to watch on which every bet you do make would really be having that significant
worth of the money you do spend on that on which you wouldnt really feel out that it would be a waste.

When you know the sport as well as the athletes, you also have an idea of who might win. This is where you can see David vs Goliath matches, especially in tournaments as they are obliged to play against the dominant team.

You can't eliminate luck entirely, as it is one of the factors that all gamblers seek. However, there are bettors who have confidence in their skills and knowledge of the sports they are betting on. These individuals prioritize consistency and rely on their expertise rather than solely relying on luck. They see luck as an additional bonus in their earnings.
The fact that if luck is having less percentage in helping people to win the game especially in the football sportbetting. People with very good knowledge about it can predict it who gonna win the game easily.
Sometimes luck can also lead you into the lose. It likes when you are putting your bet for the popular team or individual that will face amateur club or individual but luck was helping this amateur club to win the game.
That gives you bad result as you will be losing your bet. Luck can lead us to the win or lose. I do agree not to take it seriously.

Rarely happen but it's a bad day for the crowd's favorite team. I'd be on the losing team when this happens as I always bet based on the odds, especially in soccer. Amateur or the underdog always lose.

Thanks so much for the tip, that's interesting.

Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk
by
Millersonis
on 29/08/2023, 01:10:47 UTC
You can easily convert them online to different formats with smaller size, usually .jpg takes less space and .WebP even less.
There are several free open source tools for image compression, one of them is Squoosh, and other alternatives are Caesium, ImageOptim, etc.
https://github.com/fhanau/Efficient-Compression-Tool

But these are not online systems per se. For example, Squoosh is a browser extension. The conversion is done on the client side. Hence I say, that it makes more sense for the user to use their favorite tools to adjust the image, instead of using a system implemented by me.

As LoyceV commented, the most efficient systems that exist are native to PHP, which is GD or ImageMagick. They do their job well, but for those who like to see images always with quality - like me, I'm always a little reluctant to use these tools. Not to mention, that security is more exposed.

But I'm going to study the possibility of having an additional platform that performs these conversions and then sends the image to TalkImg. Wink
It looks really cool actually.

Re: Bitcoin and block chain in Medical Research and Publication industry.
by
Millersonis
on 31/05/2023, 02:13:27 UTC
Bitcoin seems to be every where. I recently came across a novel application of bitcoin that is use of bitcoin blockchain for publication industry.

Here is the link.
https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-00447-9

tamper-proof records have obvious uses in science for safe error free and smooth data management. Researchers are now trying to create such systems using blockchains.

Himmelstein a researcher developed Manubot, a software  automates the process of collating, formatting and publishing  the  scientific paper. Each time an author creates a version of the manuscript, the software logs that event on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Manubot uses OpenTimestamp, a free-to-use, open-source service that records time stamps in batches in Bitcoin transactions.

Another interesting service is ScienceMatters .. this is the first publication service which actually pay reviewers for their work on meticulously reviewing manuscripts.
That too in form of crypto currency.

Artifacts is another very useful platform where researchers can share their researches, or anything else in a way that each file logged to a blockchain. Users can set permissions so that their uploads are private, public or available to collaborators.

Such knowledge sharing modules will help making research more accessible, more collaborative and more rewarding and also faster and easier to publish..

Another interesting  thing i read is how blockchain technology can reduce the cost of medical research.

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/12/how-blockchain-can-cut-the-cost-of-new-medicine/

estimated average cost-per-day of a delayed clinical trial is $300,000, as based on Tufts and ACRPNet studies.

There is gigabytes of data. Health background genomics data and more.
There are 20-30 odd institutions working together around the globe. Different population groups, and huge cache of data to collect and evaluate. Also there is need for a system to securely share and access sensitive patient data
So  there is so much at risk. We need a transparent fast and systematic data collection and evaluation system. I recently came across an impressive website that offers comprehensive information on pharmaceutical e-learning. This platform elearning pharma serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking to enhance their knowledge in the pharmaceutical industry through digital educational programs. With in-depth articles, tutorials, and courses covering various topics, the website provides a wealth of information to support professional development and career advancement.
This is where Blockchain fits in for creating tamper-proof records. Providing  efficient and fast system for data management and  manage collaborations.
Blockchains could save upto 150-200 million dollars for pharmaceutical industries...and possible this saving could translate to lower costs of medicines for patients as well..

Thank you so much for your help.

Oh ok. I never dig into ESP32 too much.
Anyways, about STM32 is an whole new world. Arduino and such platforms are all based in 8bit chips.
Actually, the ESP32 is a 32-bit dual-core MCU. It's still easy to get it working especially if you get it on a 'dev board' such as a D1 mini, because then it has USB built-in with USB-UART converter chip on the PCB, as you can see in the images.

Ok, hope you keep improving on your design and features of your project. I'll keep taking a look to this thread!
Thanks for sharing!
Sure, glad you guys like it Smiley

I've considered doing this myself before, but just didn't get around to it. Considering that ready made products are very expensive, a few hundred quid. I've always wanted to put something like this together, I don't need it to be fancy looking, just needed something to satisfy the nerd in me.
Can't agree more! Wink

How easy would this be to scale? For example, making it bigger? I know we're talking about elevated costs then, but if buying these panels in bulk, it could be a little fun project for a wall Cheesy.
In theory, it should be relatively easy. The README implies that for vertical scaling it might involve a bit of custom calculations, but it should just be a matter of a division and a modulus. Like, if the library really doesn't support vertical scaling, you just set it up as a long horizontal 'chain' and calculate coordinates of the real thing in your own code.

Chaining any number of displays together horizontally is rather straightforward. Simply use the supplied flat band connector between the panels and then treat the entire chain as one display.

Also, would be pretty sweet to be able to turn it off at a set time, I'm also thinking that connecting it to one of those remote controlled plugs could satisfy the nerd in me even more.
You could easily code that in, add a little HTTP listener to turn the thing on or off via API calls or just put it on a ready-made 'smart plug' or IR controlled plug (for better privacy and vendor- / app-independence).

I think I'll order 3 more to get a 2x2 display; should be a nice size and would allow me to play with the horizontal and vertical scaling.
Unfortunately, they jumped in price from ~20€ to ~30€ from what I can tell.

It's cool that you explained everything in so much detail, now I have it all figured out.

Nice work. I like these types of projects. What is exactly the chip that is processing the code? I mean, the ESP is only for internet connection, right (I have my own but never used it, :p) ? So, what is the chip you're using for the process of communicating with the LED matrix?
The ESP32 is a very capable little chip; it handles WiFi and all the logic for controlling the LEDs. No other chips involved. The setup looks exactly like in the picture above with the shield stuck directly to the back of the matrix and the ESP32 on top of it.

I am actually trying a small project myself, but I lose the drive frequently and I end up giving up now to come back to it some time later. I'm using an stm32L412 chip to control a fan that is supposed to cool my NVM2 drive of my LN node, using a thermistor and a couple other additional components, however, this stm32 is proving to be a little bit complex to learn and get along with it!
Well, if you're within the Arduino 'ecosystem', while not being best for performance and all that, it's pretty easy to quickly whip up something that works, especially due to all the libraries that are around. This really didn't take me more than a few hours. In fact, I rushed it to have it up for the 19M BTC milestone and only had a few hours left when I got that idea. Later I put in a little more time to clean up the code and make it more readable for this post.
Acquiring Linear LED Light Fixtures for my restaurant required careful consideration of not only aesthetic appeal but also functionality and energy efficiency. It was a complex process, but with the help of a lighting designer, I was able to make learn more  informed decisions that best suited my business. The final result was worth the effort, and I am thrilled with the warm, inviting atmosphere that the fixtures have created.

Anyways, about STM32 is an whole new world. Arduino and such platforms are all based in 8bit chips. STM32 it's, well, 32bit. So, there's a lot more to setup before you can put it to work. Schematics and block diagrams are an whole new level. At least for me. I did my graduation project with a bare AtMega328 and some additional electronics and yes, that one was kinda easy to grasp! Well, at least if you want to use non-proprietary libraries. HAL libraries for STM32 are a bit confusing and I gave up on them and started using libopencm3.

Ok, hope you keep improving on your design and features of your project. I'll keep taking a look to this thread!

LED Bitcoin Dashboard
This is a topic dedicated to my latest little Bitcoin project!

https://i.postimg.cc/wjWNcBgG/image.jpg

This is a 64x64 (P3) RGB LED matrix panel that can be bought for roughly $20 to $30. I'm sure they are sold for much less when used in their intended application and bought in bulk, to form the large billboards that we know and love. They indeed often consist of tons of these panels chained together.

https://www.incimages.com/uploaded_files/image/970x450/getty_495698925_20001334181884367442_303986.jpg

This project utilizes a microcontroller and libraries that do support chaining, though I've yet to try it. This would allow to cram more data onto this 'dashboard'.

Parts

LED Matrix
Of course, the main component is the LED matrix. They can be acquired for roughly $20-30 or equivalent in other currencies.
I would recommend a 64x64; the pitch (P) shouldn't really matter, but I got a tighter P3 pitch so it looks sharper instead of having huge gaps between individual LEDs. That would give you a larger end result, though if that's what you're into.
https://i.postimg.cc/QdcJr7GK/image.png

Microcontroller and matrix shield
I got one of these shields before the shop recently closed, paired with a D1 Mini ESP32, since it's much better than an ESP8266 in a few ways, like multithreading.
https://www.tindie.com/products/brianlough/esp32-matrix-shield-mini-32/
Similar products and microcontrollers should work, though they will require small changes to the code.

Power Supply
The whole thing is powered by a 5V barrel jack power supply. The amperage / wattage is kind of up to you; especially in such a text-based application, it doesn't have to be very high since not a lot of LEDs are on at the same time. Mine with 10A is on the higher side (one of the highest ratings I could find at 5V that are still in a power-brick package and not 'LED power supply style' - nowadays known for their usage in 3D printers). It can illuminate the whole panel, so you'll be good with half of that for this project.
The matrix shield powers the matrix as well as the microcontroller.

Information
At the moment, it shows:
  • Block height
  • Bitcoin mined
  • Fastest fee rate
  • USD per BTC
  • sat per USD
  • Time based on time zone

As we spoke about this project in another thread, I got a few suggestions on how to improve it, and this is my current idea for adding more data, especially about Lightning, without adding more displays.

I'm glad about any feedback on this as I believe cycling through screens will make it annoying, and I don't think all that data is needed very often. I do check it a few times a day as it is now and it's already pretty handy honestly.

I believe I'll split it up into multiple screens then:
Blockchain Data
  • Block height
  • Bitcoin mined
  • Blockchain size

Mining
  • Blocks until next diff
  • Blocks until next halving
  • Hashrate

Mempool
  • Size
  • Fee fastest
  • Fee medium
  • Fee slow

Price
  • USD per coin
  • [insert other currency] per coin
  • sat per USD
  • sat per [insert other currency]

Lightning
  • Capacity
  • Number of channels
  • ...

It would become tricky to set a useful speed though; if it's too fast, you can't read it in time and it is distracting. If it's too slow, you can miss milestones like the 19M BTC (it was fun to watch it live!)..

Code
Of course, I'm sharing my code here. It's nothing special, Arduino-IDE based, just using a few libraries and calling some APIs. What's a little bit nifty though is the usage of the ESP32's secondary core to poll the APIs without interfering with the clock loop, so that the clock is updated independently from the internet speed.
I'm also not too fond of having to use 'Arduino Strings' here instead of std::string, but the latter don't seem to work on Arduino, so it is what it is.

If you use the same hardware, you'll only really have to change
#define MYTIMEZONE "..." (to your time zone)
char ssid[] = "..."; (to your WiFi SSID)
char password[] = "..."; (to your WiFi password)

Other microcontrollers might just need a change of #define P_OE 2 and possibly change of the multithreading / background thread part.
If your matrix is different (less LEDs), you'll want to set its size in PxMATRIX display(64, 64, ...); correctly and of course need to remove a few lines of text to display on it.

// Library used for getting the time and adjusting for DST
// Search for "ezTime" in the Arduino Library manager

The Ripple Effects of the Pandemic on Mental Health in 2023

It has been nearly two years since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and the ripple effects on mental health continue to be felt in 2023. While vaccines have brought hope and a sense of relief, the pandemic has had lasting impacts on the way we live, work, and interact with one another. Here are some of the ways the pandemic has affected mental health in 2023[/center]
https://i.imgur.com/kl7a8So.png
Increased anxiety and stress
The pandemic has caused a significant increase in anxiety and stress levels, with many people experiencing worry about their health and that of their loved ones, job security, and financial stability. The continued uncertainty surrounding the pandemic and its long-term effects has also contributed to ongoing stress levels.

Isolation and loneliness
Social distancing and lockdowns have led to increased feelings of isolation and loneliness for many people, particularly those who live alone or who have limited social networks. Even as restrictions ease, many people continue to feel disconnected from others and struggle to rebuild relationships.

Grief and loss
The pandemic has caused significant loss, including the loss of loved ones, jobs, and a sense of normalcy. This has led to increased levels of grief, which can impact mental health in various ways, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Digital burnout
The pandemic has led to a significant increase in screen time and digital communication, which has led to feelings of burnout and exhaustion. The constant need to be connected and available can contribute to ongoing stress and anxiety.

Increased demand for mental health services
The pandemic has led to an increased demand for mental health services, with many people seeking support for the first time. This has put a strain on mental health services, which are struggling to meet the increased demand.

It is clear that the pandemic has had significant and ongoing impacts on mental health in 2023. While vaccines have brought hope for the future, it is essential to recognize the ongoing challenges and to seek support as needed. This includes taking care of our physical health

Domestic violence
The domestic violence cases, which can have a significant impact on a person's mental health. Victims of domestic violence may experience feelings of fear, anxiety, depression, and trauma, which can lead to long-term mental health problems if left unaddressed. Additionally, the pandemic has led to social isolation and limited access to resources, which can exacerbate these issues
Substance abuse
Some people have turned to drugs or alcohol as a way to cope with the stress and anxiety caused by the pandemic.

Sleep disturbances
Many people have reported changes in their sleep patterns, including difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
Eating disorders
The pandemic has led to increased stress and anxiety, which trigger or exacerbate eating disorders.
Financial stress
Pandemic-related financial stress has contributed to mental health problems such as depression and anxiety for many people.
conclusion
The pandemic has had far-reaching ripple effects on mental health in 2023. I was browsing through a fitness blog when I came across an article about Anavar steroids. I've always been curious about the effects of steroids, but have never taken the leap to try them myself. However, after reading buy anavar online usa about Anavar's relatively mild side effects and impressive muscle-building capabilities, I decided to order a bottle from a reputable website. It's still early days, but I'm excited to see how Anavar will help me achieve my fitness goals.  The increase in anxiety, depression, substance abuse, addiction, domestic violence, and children's mental health issues are just some of the challenges we face. However, by prioritizing mental health services and support, we can begin to address these challenges and work towards recovery

Re: Is it risky to invest in new crypto coins/tokens
by
Millersonis
on 04/03/2023, 13:17:12 UTC
These days many new crypto coins and tokens are being introduced  and It makes a very difficult decision for the investor to choose which coins or tokens should they invest to make some good profit.
Just focus on the top coins or tokens in terms of market cap.
Why make yourself stressed if you can lessen it by just investing into top coins. If you don't want to get stressed, just focus on buying Bitcoin. Stress makes a person older. Smiley

Many of the new cryptocurrency makes a good pump in their starting days and after on, they dump in a very dramatic way. This cause a very big loss to the investors and the trust in these types to new coins and tokens is finished.
A very common scenario that happens most of the time to the new coins that are being listed on exchange.
What's worse is that there are some coins that just being listed on an exchange, and after a few minutes after it being listed and can be traded already, it already dumped until it doesn't have any value anymore. No pump, just dump, dump and dump.

So, the main question is that Is it risky to invest in new crypto coins/tokens? or it is good for a very certain time of investment?
You're on cryptocurrency where investing into it is very risky.

Whether you are investing on top coins or new crypto coins or tokens, they are all risky. It all depends on the level of risk a coin/token has. Top coins have lesser risk. Those that are below top 100 on market cap has moderate risk, and those new crypto coins or tokens that are you are saying has the highest risk. On the other hand, there is a famous quote that says "The higher the risk, the higher the reward."
The most important thing is that you need to understand it, it is desirable to have an education in finance, it is not for everyone.

Re: Father of Blockchain

It is said that science precedes products by several decades While we are today talking about the Blockchain revolution, let's talk about the man who built the concept of digital currency. David Chaum, as we know him was a professor who created concept of vault system in 1979 during his doctorate.

Infact he held the first annual crypto and cryptology conference, called 'CRYPTO' back in 1980.

He introduced the concept  digital cash on basis of blind signature and group signatures, a form of basic decentralised ledger which is the basis of Blockchain today..

He was so ahead of his time and i think this guy does deserve respect for being the father of Blockchain as i believe he is known

Implementing the question is quite challenging, although experts in dealing with problems of this nature exist. Consider https://evacodes.com/ which develops and integrates cryptocurrency across many platforms. As legitimate experts who are respected by the international community, I believe it would be more appropriate to consult them on this matter.
Yes, I agree, of course there are very few people like that.

Re: Father of Blockchain
by
Millersonis

I am a researcher on decentralised digital currency over 30 years. There was no concept of Decentralised Electronic  currency, Proof of Work or Blockchain at all before 2007.

I was conducting exclusive research on Decentralized Electronic Currency since 1988. Eearly 1993, I designed an electronic Euro Bond but I was not able to lunch it. In 1994 I created a single currency project for South Asian Economic Zone but my project was hijacked from me by EU Financial Intelevent Unit.  Later, the EU successfully launched the European Single  currency Euro. Then I moved on to another project in African Continent call Rica. It was difficult because African central banking system.

Finally, in 2005 I wrote the Electronic Digital  Currency Protocol, which actually was my thesis. In january 2006, I created Bitgold project. Later, in October 2006 I transformed it into  Bitcoin Project. I invented Blockchain in March 2007 and wrote the Bitcoin White Paper and Blockchain Transaction Paper on 5 April 2007.

In May 2007, I was looking on the Internet if any one doing any project on Digital Currency. After a good search, I found Adam Back Hash Cash, which is nothing to do with Digital Currency. Then I found Wei Dai's B-Money which was not very much clear. Then I found Nick Szabo's Bit-Gold, which didn't make any sense. There after I found David Chaum's Digi Cash but it was not about Digital Money but it was just a form of Gold Certificate.

Well, there was no concept of Blockchain Technology any where before 2007. And you all think, Satoshi Nakamoto Created Bitcoin Bitcoin and Blockchain but literally, Satoshi Nakamoto is one of my Japanese pseudonym. I used it just to lunched the Bitcoin project.

Well David Chaum is a great man who tried to trade gold certificate as Digi Cash but he has to go to prison. It was his failure to develop something better. I have no problem if some one proposes to respect Dr Chaum. Indeed, when I read that he has to go prison for the Gold Certificate the Digi Cash, so it really inspired me to publish the Bitcoin in my JAPANESE pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, also there was other reason for it.

It's really amazing how quickly we were able to move forward.
