What are they talking about? Do they know anything about Bitcoin? Prof. FUD must be one of the most uninformed persons I have ever heard...

Doesnt sound like any of them have much experience with BTC.

Bitcoin fees as high as 9%. What?

I am going to call her "mrs. Ripple" cause she is obviously married to that scam. So we have prof. FUD and mrs. Ripple. Nice panel.

Can SOMEONE (looking at prof. Felten) PLEASE introduce the word "decentralized" in the discussion so that people can distinguish between real cryptocurrencies and the ripple scam.

I really hope that prof. Felten squashes the FUD from the dinosaur and exposes the lies from the Ripple-spokesperson.

So the third panel is a FUD-shouting dinosaur, a "professor" bought by Ripple and one guy that seems somewhat intelligent?

Hi. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for putting the effort into them. However, I must ask: Isn't there a keyboard shortcut to remove all those lines that you have painted? Seems like a waste of time to have to click on every one of them to remove them. :p

indeed, I was thinking the same Tongue

Will do !!  Grin Wink

Well, not for our sake - but for your convenience. What program are you using to draw those lines?

Re: RAM-Reduction & Backup Center Testing (version 0.89.99.5)

Yes, but the quoted statement from etotheipi suggested the possibility that the fragmented-backup format might yet change between testing version and release version.  That ambiguity hasn't been removed by a clear statement, although it seems unlikely that the format is going to change given how close we are to release of a new non-testing version.

I think he was making reference to the new paper backup format, exporting only the root key instead of root key + chaincode. M of N backups were not available to public at the time of that post, if memory serves right.

Regardless, the current M of N backups are only available as part of test builds, you're better off waiting for a release build before shoving the GDP of Zimbabwe into one of those babies =P. You're welcome to abuse them with cheap change or testnet coins, however.

I created a new wallet on my offline computer and printed a 5 of 6 backup. I then deleted the wallet and restored from the printed backups. There where no problems and the addresses that I created were the same as before. Are you saying that I have missed something and that I should not rely on that paper wallet for my small-country-sized-savings?

Also, this might be something to consider:

But I assume that people using Armory will be somewhat accustomed to using SI-units.

Would you put all your savings money into BTC rather than at the bank?

That's what I did @136. All of it. Been holding since.

Re: Add option to display mBTC instead of BTC

There was some discussion recently on the mailing list about this.  The general consensus was that:

(1) This needs to be done carefully to avoid people sending 1000x what they intended
(2) It is difficult to change an established system.  So we want to do it once.
(3) It'd be nice to only have two digits after the decimal since most accounting software can't handle more

Therefore, we go straight to micro-BTC.  It solves all of this in one fell swoop.  At the current Bitcoin price (~$1,000) that would be 1,000 uBTC per $1 USD.  That's a totally reasonable, human-usable system.  And accommodates all future non-hardforking growth (i.e. if we never need more than 8 decimal places, this will be last forever).

Sounds awesome!

Hi.

Could it be time to switch to mBTC as default in the client, or at least to add a switch allowing the user to choose what to display?

Thanks for your awesome work. Best there is.
