Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth!

For those who required Linux wallet: I just compiled the linux wallet with the updated information in README.md.
It works! I will buy some to stake.  Grin

Just follow these steps:

git clone --recursive https://github.com/spectrecoin/spectre
cd spectre
./install_boost_1_67  # only necessary on Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/etc. If you have installed Boost 1_67 before, you may ignore this command for now
./autogen.sh
./configure --enable-gui --with-qt5=/path/to/qt/version/compiler  # leave out --enable-gui to build only the console wallet
make

Thanks mate, I'll check it out!!

In the beginning I also struggled with spectre requirement of newer openssl (1.1.0) than is in CentOS I have on VPS. Gandalf's advice to use older version which builds with openssl 1.0.1 helped me, unfortunately I can't find page he referred.
But basically it was this:
git clone https://github.com/spectrecoin/spectre
git checkout v1.3.5

I had to get over a few other issues, like install newer version of gcc (7.2.1 which supports C++14 standard - see RPM package devtools-7-runtime) and also build Boost C++ library (distro version didn't work, don't remember exact reason).

Finally I didn't know how to run it. Dunno is it is the best way, but I run it with -cli parameter under tmux console multiplexer.
When I ran it as daemon, I couldn't figure out how to connect to it to issue commands.
Also I needed to create .spectrecoin/spectrecoin.conf in my home dir where I enabled staking and set rpcpassword.
I wonder if there is a tutorial or comprehensive doc about this all (how to configure and run spectre without GUI). I didn't find any - I put everything together from pieces I googled out.

Thanks, this is a good suggestion. I can try to make more installation tutorials for different setups. The page that you are referring to was taken down by me, to avoid making it look like official XSPEC documentation and to avoid confusion with Wisp. I'll talk with the Spectrecoin team to find a place where these guides can be published.

Hey Gandalf,

+1 for this idea, I've was looking for info recently to attempt this so it would be greatly appreciated for any info in regards to this!!

Thanks

Ticket # 329459 - processing since 6th June (101 Days)

Maidsafe deposit never arrived up in my wallet.
I raised one other ticket in the hopes to maybe create some urgency but haven't heard a peep.
I'll report back here if I ever have it resolved.

I had my ticket resolved a couple of weeks ago, in total I had to wait about 10 months. They clearly don't have a very efficient system in place over there.

Good luck to you all, make a thread on the reddit poloniex page, I'm not sure if this helped but mine was resolved not long after I opened one myself.

Have anyone else suffered the withdraw problem on Cryptopia?
How long will it take for a successful withdrawal?

I made several transactions recently, one took a few days. The other couple went through within 24hrs. Not sure whats going on over there at Cryptopia but transactions are still working, they are just a little delayed.

As for anc I'd suggest you open a support ticket.

You are aware that you are sent an email to confirm the withdrawal as well?

what does it mean

you are not stacking you have unmature coins?

When you first start staking, I don't know the exact figure but I think it takes around 8 hours before your coins begin to stake on the network.
Heres a link for some info on Spectrecoin, it gets thrown around here often and is worth having saved in your bookmarks!

If you have any other questions, look to join the discord as there is plenty of help there as well.

Hi all,
I would like to buy some spectre coins. Is there a buy/sell thread for it (i don't have an account at cryptopia)?

Sounds like a promising coin.

Cheers

Just create one?!  Huh  It takes 30 seconds.

True, but i do not recommend to buy from cryptopia untill they fix their withdraw issues. Mine has been processing for over 5 days already.

Yeah I currently am waiting for Spectre coins to be released to my wallet from Cryptopia, hopefully it is resolved soon as I've had no issues in the past. I will post back here once my coins arrive in my wallet.

It appears Cryptopia withdrawals are working still, they just seem to be taking a while. I've sent 2 small transactions, one showed up yesterday (around 4 days since my withdrawal request) I sent the other today but am yet to receive it, hopefully they resolve the delays soon.

Is anyone having syncing issues with the new Mac wallet, I have noticed a red bar that will pop up in the top right corner, if I hover over the bar it reads something along the lines of wallet out of sync, catching up to current block. I have only noticed it doing this since updating to the new wallet. I have also had 6 of 7 of my last stakes "generated but not accepted stakes". Could this be due to the syncing issue I am having??

Any help is much appreciated

The red bar thing is called syncing, it's a good thing!  Cheesy

What "generated but not accepted" means, you can look up here: https://github.com/bitcoinx2/crypto-intro-guide/wiki/Proof-of-Stake#why-is-my-stake-conflicted-or-not-accepted

Note that you won't be staking until your wallet is fully synced.

Ah no worries then, thanks for the info and link Gandalf86, I've been curious about the difference types of POS so that link has some additional reading for me Roll Eyes
