For some reason, according to this chart, the bitcoin network hashrate is having major fluctuations and it appears as it is losing its exponential growth:

Why is that? Some big pool is having issues lately?

At the very end of that graph, aren't the estimate lines speeding up with a vengeance?

Re: Alt-Coins

Almost all of the alt-coins are there are going to be a waste of time.  They're being created to take advantage of people who get super excited about different things and then get pumped and dumped.

Be careful about wasting time with too many alt coins.

I bet thats the kind of thinking many had about Bitcoins in the beginning but look where it is now. I am not bashing you in anyway, I just feel like qualifying your statement. People should really research what their going into because maybe one of the Alt-coins will have a boom like BTC.

Agreed. Many alt-coins out there have great potential and some-not all will hit it off big.

I agree as well, there is still room in the marketplace for many many successful coins.

Many very broad niches have not been targeted and a large portion of the current community is underdeveloped. We will definitely see some new comers tearing they're way up the charts. Just wait until individual corporations get involved and create they're own internal currencies.

I'm very curious on what those niches could be. Can you please explain? What kind of features would other alt coins provide that BTC and LTC don't?

The only other niche I can imagine is a currency like USD where more and more are minted every year, as apposed to decreasing amounts.  Wink

The KNC miner seems like a good deal at $4 per Gh/s https://www.kncminer.com/products/neptune, but that is a lot of cash you need to put on the line.

It's because of the news out of China. We've seen crashes before it will stabilize around production cost.

How much is the production cost?

well seeing as the cost for equipment to mine has gone up that would mean the value of BTC should be going up.

As the costs increase how is that supposed to push up the value? Does each miner go "BTC needs at this price for me to be profitable, I better go buy some to increase its value!" ?

I've got a very similar situation here as well, except I did get an email notification.

For those that contacted coinbase support, how long did it take for them to respond? It has been 2 days since I've sent my email to them and I haven't heard anything back.

Olaf are you still around? I'm unable to send a message to you directly as my account doesn't allow it yet.

Here is how my transaction looks like: http://i.imgur.com/SCk33ii.jpg

I am starting to get worried.
