The market always goes in cycles . What happened in 2017-2018 winter was a fantastic bullrun making all altcoins do a 2-3.....20x .
Bitcoin in my opinion has found it's bottom , it is a matter of time until we pick up volume , thats what we are lacking right now . As for altcoins , they move in cycles too , you can check turtlebc website -> tools -> buy market percentage and spread it out on a 3 year period .

Risky m8, at the current price action is fairly safe to safe it won't see 5k , we may see another half month of sideway price action but eventually it will jump .
You must always buy on the way down and always sell on the way up .

First of all , check the whitepaper , dev team , roadmap after that you can worry about marketcaps and so on . the marketcap ,,, if you invest in 1 coin in the top 100-200 you'll rarely get high profits . I like searching for gems under 10M marketcap . Another aspect are the events that follow for one particular coin on coinmarketcalendar , i like picking mainnet realeases , token spaws , token/coin burn , airdrops and so on .
You can make easy money in crypto, you just need to invest time and knowledge .

Can easily reverse tomorrow , can easily last another half year . You never know but we sure need smart money coming in .

Right now , it is a great time to buy , pretty much all coins are bottomed out and at early december levels(before the grand bitcoin bullrun) . Ofcourse you must research what you buy first , check the legitimacy of the project , the roadmap , the dev team and so on . Any thoughts on some coins for short term profit ?

I allocated some of my funds 40% to elix , oyster perl , monero and ethereum classic . I think these are good for mid-long term investment . Still have 60% , you guys gave me new insights and i want to thank you all for that . I think monero has some great long term potential being one of the best anonymous coins (I can see there is high demand for these kind of coins in 2018) . I'm looking into XSPEC also , but i really hate dealing with cryptopia . I will study all of your suggestions these week(there are a lot) . As for ICO's i don't consider myself experienced enough to start taking risk in that category .

Ethereum just climbed on the 2nd spot crippling ripple so i'm sure i'm gonna invest some of my money into that , stable investment , growing day by day , but what impact will it have when they implement PoS ? Gonna put some money into that for sure , but not all of it in one basket as someone stated above .
