Re: [ANN] Hemis $HMS - A new layer 1 blockchain for contract free games of chance!

Furthermore, I would like to ask if there is still time to buy HEMIS coins on Xeggex and participate in the staking bonuses offered?

People hot staking Hemis right now will receive staking bonusses until the bonus fund runs out. Estimates are that this will take another month. So coins purchased on Xeggex can be staked and will receive bonusses still.

MAGIC! It's all working an hasn't broken (yet).

For those too lazy to click the link, here's today's update on hemis.tech:

Quote

We’re delighted to announce that the Hemis blockchain is alive and well!

The genesis block was mined successfully
The premine executed according to specification and all tokens are accounted for.
The Proof of Work mining phase completed successully.
Block time is currently a little unstable but difficulty is adjusting and block time is stabilising according to the specification of 60 seconds.
The P2P network is healthy, with seed nodes located in diverse locations.
The block explorer is live https://explorer.hemis.tech/
The blockchain is currently secured by staking with the dev fund. Any tokens generated by staking before the community have received their tokens will be added to the airdrop fund.

Token Transparency.

The airdrop token fund can be viewed at this address. https://explorer.hemis.tech/address/HU6sfgeo1UHKtpyJtLFn8d4T9AttLd1cAe
We estimate that the airdrop fund will increase by approximately 5,000 tokens per day as we add tokens from the private staking phase.
The early supporter/investor fund can be viewed at this address. https://explorer.hemis.tech/address/HNcgNsQqTmyVjaci5bfYkkKTL6FYetchmi
The early supporter/investor fund tokens will not be distributed to their respective owners until after the community airdrop is complete. The community will get their tokens first.

A Short Delay.

The original plan was to make the wallet open source this week. However during launch we identified six minor bugs that we would like to fix before release. We now expect to release the wallet and source code in week beginning 22 January 2024.

Next Steps

For a reminder on the launch process, please see this article. We are currently at step 4.

Airdrop Announcement & FOMO.

Due to the short delay in releasing the wallet, we do not plan to announce the airdrop until week begining 22 January 2024. We wanted to reassure the community that we will give everybody plenty of notice and time to participate. When we announce the airdrop there will be at least one week notice before the airdrop actually opens. It is of crucial important that as many people as possible participate so we have no intention of leaving anybody behind. If you are in our Discord or follow us on Twitter, you will not miss out!

A Proud Moment

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to TheExiledMonk, Infernoman, and AKCryptoGuy for their impeccable execution of our blockchain launch. Achieving a safe and flawless launch is a complex feat, and their efforts made it a reality. Additionally, my gratitude goes out to the entire Hemis team and our project backers. Your support has been crucial to the success of this project. Despite being an unpaid endeavor, faced with challenges of a global pandemic and personal hardships, the journey has been incredibly fulfilling. Seeing the chain go live is a proud moment.

Lets take this blank canvas and build something special together.

Over the year I've grown to be very proficient at identifying fire hydrants. This is an important skill in life and since in my country they don't exist I am really glad that bitcointalk taught me how to successfully identify them through this absolute nightmare of a captcha system bitcointalk has in place.

Every time I log in to Binance I have to slide a puzzle piece into place and if I manage to do that it will tell me that I did better than 98.7% percent of other users  and it makes me feel really good about myself.

Every time I log in to bitcointalk I feel really bad about myself because I am terrible at identifying store fronts and sometimes after having been at it for 2 minutes straight and finally making it I get a message about my IP not being trusted and then I have to go through it again. And sometimes the second one will be about buses or crosswalks and I have a phobia for both.

I really don't think I'm the only one who is annoyed.

ICOs cost you money.
by
Mrrr
on 15/08/2018, 00:01:25 UTC
These are the facts of what happens to your money if you "invest" it into an ICO at the moment:

https://icorating.com/report/ico-market-research-q2-2018/

-55% return on average on q2 ICOs.

Best part of course is that these disruptive novelty unicorns of start ups you just invested in will at some point dump your recently invested ETH/BTC onto the market because they need to pay for hip start up offices, organic Italian espresso machines and a lease Tesla for everyone involved.

So you get f*cked twice. First they sell you a worthless token and then they dump on you, devaluating whatever you have left.

Development Update — Lisk Core 1.0 Beta Testing

....

the f@ck this update post all about? I'm a little confused, the post of no post? or the post for the next post on update to Version 1.0.0 Beta 9? this is getting ridiculous!

What you are witnessing is actual software development rather than marketeers deluding you into thinking that their new Chinese ICO'd ERC20 token is the Ethereum Killer based on the contents of a flashy white paper that'll mention 10 million TPS and scalability through decentralized quantum sharding.

Re: [ANN] [CHC] ChainCoin - Cryptopia & Novaexchange - Required update 0.9.3.2
by

on 08/06/2018, 20:59:50 UTC
To clear things up a little: we have a major upgrade in the pipe. It is announced to be published on Jul. 4th. It will cover all features others (like Dash) are only dreaming about. Currently we are cooperating with mining pools to make sure they can actually  create all the blocks we are going to accept.

At a glimpse this means we are supporting of course everything that Bitcoin does like SegWit and additional features we ported from Dash like the governance system. The difference is, ALL functionality is based on scripting which allows conditional transactions on every layer of the network. Masternodes and proposals can all be paid out based on ANY script.

Chaincoin - just make things better.
If it's true, then this coin can to the moon, last year it went up by 5 orders, ofc it's not possible any more, but it might go by 2.

Well, last year had 'The Event' from which no one got any wiser. Also over the last year Chaincoin changed "developers" more often than a hooker changes underwear but fortunately the network did its job and persisted. Hopefully this time it will be different.

Can’t confirm nor deny. We have been jumping in after things went the way they did, to be honest we have been working from several code bases since last September and we decided to take our time, give a shit about the FUD all around and just do our thing. At least since half a year it’s all the same guys doing the coding. Lost a major portion of community, that being fact personally I don’t think that is a loss because they haven’t been thriving on tech like we do spend our days.

My comment came out a bit more negative than intended perhaps. Keep up the good work, I see a lot of good stuff happening here, and thanks for the reply Smiley

ICO child board
by

on 21/02/2018, 21:32:29 UTC
Considering there is already a token childboard for /announcements which does play its role in de cluttering the altcoins boards. IMO an ICO board could play a role in making things even a bit more tidy and manageable. I fully appreciate the fact that bitcointalk is for bitcoin and that the altcoin boards are here by good will/adverse possesion only but they've grown into one of the fore most watering holes of the industry and as such deserve some love.

Re: Should I sell my airdropped tokens quickly or hold on to them?
by
Mrrr
on 04/02/2018, 18:54:34 UTC
Well if you sell them straight away you'll get a little money for every token. If you hold most of your tokens will be worthless but you have the chance that one of them will do really well. Maybe do a bit of both. Sell the tokens you have zero confidence in and keep the ones that perhaps some day might be worth something.

Re: Cryptocoin prices dropped simultaneously
by
Mrrr
on 04/02/2018, 18:43:49 UTC
Pretty much all altcoins do not have a fiat pair (altcoin/USD). So what happens when the market turns red and people want to get into fiat to sit it out: they'll have to sell their alts for BTC in order to get the fiat. So when BTC/USD goes down, altcoins/BTC goes down and the dollar value of your altcoins will drop more than the dollar value of BTC.

This works in reverse too, when BTC/USD goes up steadily altcoins/BTC will go up and the dollar value of your altcoins will rise more than the dollar value of BTC.

Re: Is tron (TRX) a good investment for now? or risk?
by

Regardless of whether it will be a success or not: Tron, at this point in time, is still 100% vaporware and its perceived value is 100% speculative. That is something you should be very aware of when deciding whether to buy or not.

One more thing you might add to the first post: beware of phishing links. It is the no. 1 way in which people lose funds. Chances you lose your money through phishing are far larger than losing it to an exchange that goes bust or a wallet that goes corrupt.

hi guys i hope you are fine in bad days !
i want sell all altcoin and i can wait only 1 month ! because i need money and i must change to cash..
so i waiting for next 1 month and sell then or i sell now or soon?because i dont want lost more again
may market crash again china holidays ?
i have ark stratis lisk waves etn etc adx and litle qtm gnt
so what i do ?

If you need to sell it is smart to not sell everything in 1 go. Sell it in little portions so in case the market suddenly booms or crashes it will not hurt you so much. Look at the coins you are currently holding and see if they have any major events in the pipeline. LISK for example has some major updates coming that might drive up the price a bit.

Re: Do you believe in ICO Ratings?
by
Mrrr
on 02/02/2018, 15:27:37 UTC
Most ICO rating websites give you enough material for you to dig through independently, BUT they also have a conflict of interest in that they allow payments to list your ICO - so it is in their best interest to list as many ICO's as possible - that can lead to miss information.

I would suggest you take the popular ICO's and inspect it closely, see if it makes sense - or if it is just another pump and dump.

Also, gather information across various sites as this is a very new space, people are using varying methodologies as indicators for value propositions. Some are intelligent - others are not well thought through.

You don't want the tide to go out and leave you standing on the shore with "TRON" for example.

GL!

This precisely. If you skim through the announcements a bit you'll find a lot of sketchy ICOs that still manage to get a favourable rating. If these websites are indeed being paid by the ICOs they're supposed to rate (and there is no reason to assume differently) that is a big big big red flag. So X7's advice is a good one: just use them to find links, websites, forums etc and do your own research.

Re: Learning the Market
by
Mrrr
on 02/02/2018, 15:11:00 UTC
Just wondering if there's any resources to learn the market. I have babypips. Just didn't know if there were much better resources to learn how to watch charts, notice signs, or anything informative.

Is learning waves and what not even useful in the crypto world?

Thanks ahead of time. Will donate some xvg for helpful info!!

Just don't want to scroll through 1000s of coins so any help is appreciated!

If anything my experience with day trading crypto is that it is very easy to get burned. Don't automatically assume that the same rules for forex or whatever apply here too. This is still a largely unregulated market where insider trading and market manipulation is the standard rather than the exception. So as a new comer this means its not a level playing field. I think the best way to learn is through experience. Read a lot, know what you are buying and why. Take risks but with small amounts of money so you'll what to do and what not to do. You can be a TA ace but thats not going to save you if happened to buy bitconnect based on chart analysis....

If you have, at any point, the opportunity to cover your initial investment and still have enough crypto to play around with: don't hesitate and do it. It will give you peace of mind and it will allow you to trade with a lot less emotion and make better choices.
