+ 1 here too this one is another good option...

PS please put your KARMA donation address in your signature so people can donate for your efforts...

-1 I like the art, but I really disagree about using Dharma symbol for Karma coin. Dharma != Karma. It is like labeling peace symbol with word joy.

As someone with years of marketing experience working for the biggest ad agency in the world, I would suggest staying away from symbolism like a dharma wheel.

A white elephant outline is neutral, and would work much better (as a brand) than something that means different things to different people (and would cause many others to become indifferent to Karmacoin).

i.e., come up with something new. The elephant is good. Just make it outstanding and emotionally appealing.

The simpler the logo the better. If I was to design it, I would do something completely different. A blue and red logo like the old Pepsi logo but leaning towards a horizontal yin-yang and getting rid of the dots. Also, there's no need to put "Karmacoin" on the logo. (Such is the sign of an amateur.) The text can go next to it, on the right side.

This makes for a familiar symbol but still something new. Think big picture and long term. As in, what symbol would make a 9 year-old in the Kenyan highlands smile when they see it just as well as an adult in Shoreditch?

Nevermind what you like. The question is, what would most of your potential users like?

A good logo could mean the difference between success and failure of a company (or coin). (But again, it's not what you think is good...)

Deepak Chopra: "What is Karma? Karma simply means action. Every action has consequences. Karma creates the future, but it is also an echo from the past, conditions our soul through memory, desire and imagination."

And here is what urban dictionary says, for kicks: "The Buddhist belief that whatever you do comes back to you, e.g. if you do something good, something good will happen to you, and vice versa."
I disagree with this definition, because it limits the meaning to Buddhist. Does this sound strictly Buddhist: What goes around comes around? I don't think so. I am sure Justin Timberlake doesn't thinks so. Smiley

My love to this coin. Thank you guys for working on it.

...Now, to review the logos.

I agree  the word "Karma" is no more religious than words like Compassion, Kindness, Charity, Good

The Dalai lama pretty much explained Karma in a similar way as Deepak Chopra and Buddhism is either a Philosophy or a religion depending on how you look at it (just like KarmaCoin is either a currency or a payment system depending on how you look at it, how ironic..)

most people who grew up in the 60s knew about Karma, so were the hippies back then all religion freaks? of course not......

Karma is just the sanskrit word for the concept of "Cause and Effect" which is a scientific term.
If you back far enough and its not even an Indian concept originally, it (Sanskrit concept of Karma) predates Jesus, Buddha, Mohammad and most of what we now know today as Hinduism

the irony is of course that the word GOOD is cognate with GOD.

so by saying the Karma Coin motto of  "Doing GOOD is GOOD" you are actually being more religious than the guy who says "that's Karma dude!"

Beautiful points. Thank you. I didn't catch the parallel between a currency or a payment system and karma. Haha Smiley Love it.

Did you mean *not* more religious, or as it is: "Doing GOOD is GOOD" you are actually being more religious than the guy who says "that's Karma dude!"

Another variation, what do you think about the ying/yang?

http://i59.tinypic.com/30kbksi.jpg

I think that one is the best one yet. Looks professional and like something i would not be embarrassed to show in a presentation to real investors.

Good Job

-1 for Yin-Yang. Sorry. :\ Even if it looks good. Yin-Yang != Karma. For a person that even somewhat knows meanings of these words, it is like mismatching flags and names of countries. I do appreciate the effort.

Here's the dharma symbol...

http://i62.tinypic.com/2kg0om.jpg

A gentle fyi, this is not dharma symbol. It was used by The DHARMA (Department of Heuristics And Research on Material Applications) Initiative, which was "a scientific research project that had a large presence on the Island between the 1970s and the early 1990s. The project is represented by variations of an octagonal logo, a variation of the Ba Gua, which comes from Taoist mysticism, that appear on most of its products and facilities."

"If anyone has done Religious Studies at University or perhaps even studdied Buddhism or Hinduism you will know about Dharma and Karma..."

And how many of the crypto users and investors have studied that?

"Anyone who doesn't 'approve' of said religious connotations will stop at the name KARMA coin - they won't give a shit about the logo, their mind will be made up already. These people are few and far between and we need not pay them any mind. "

This isn't freaking Pope coin.. a lot of atheist believe in karma..and/or make reference to them.  The point of the design is to not spook any potential investors/users of this coin and take a middle ground.  If the name karma is already so religious, why would u add even more religious elements to it?  This isn't a coin for just the people that studies religions.

"Remember folks, 25% of the worlds population is either Hindu or Buddhist"

And how many of those people are interested in crypto?

"If anyone has done Religious Studies at University or perhaps even studdied Buddhism or Hinduism you will know about Dharma and Karma - it makes perfect sense to have the dharma wheel on the logo for a coin called KARMA"

We're not trying to do some hardcore rocket science research on the basis of a name..we're trying to appeal to as many people as possible.  It's not about what you like..or what is politically and factually correct.  Seeing anything religious like a dharma wheel will be a turn off for lots of people.  It reminds me of those jehova witnesses ppl knocking on my door..and bothering me when I'm trying to take the metro somewhere.  That's an immediate turn off.

A cute looking elephant is not bad of an idea.  It gives potential users a feeling of friendliness..and the fact that there's a friendly community that is intent on helping others.  Emotional appeal is important when you are trying to market a product to people.  People said Doge was garbage.. but guess what?  It's a funny coin..and people like it because it doesn't take itself seriously.  People felt connected to Doge..the fun coin of the crypto world..and look at it now.. it's huge.  The last thing we need to do is to put a religious symbol on the coin and turn off every potential user.

I have studied the  meaning of karma and dharma on my own, not at a university. I won't go into dharma here because it is irrelevant to this coin. In my view, the world karma is not strictly religious and it has multiple meanings depending on who is using it. It is also evolving in time as the time itself is evolving, and it is simple! Here is what Deepak Chopra says about the meaning of karma. I chose his definition because he puts is so clearly, and because he is one of the greatest spiritual/life philosophers of  this century belonging to multiple cultures and always considering science in his work. I can't think of a better source to define the meaning of karma.

A couple of questions/ thoughts to discuss with shibe friends.

Is doge being donated to any pet charity? Yesterday, I was reading all the pet charities that kitteh coin is donating to. I totally fell for it (yes, I am a woman, but I don't think it matters Smiley, and I feel that bunch of other regular folk will. Also, associating a coin wtih cute pet stories is a great way to promote a coin to general public, I believe. Youtube, reddit etc. can't get bored of cat/dogs stories, it seems. We should take advantage of that - I am thinking of charity and heartwarming or funny pet stories, not just of cute shibe. Smiley

Then, is there an easy way to give doges to children, in the way that they can understand that they hold some number of doges and see value in it? E.g. they can shop with help of parents online or donate, or just feel wealthy. Smiley The way wallet looks wouldn't be attractive to me if I were a kid. Is there a cute shibe app for it? I am thinking that marketing doges to kids is a great idea.

Oh, it was great to read that doge is looking for a developer to build a facebook doge tip app. Hope they found an excellent one!

What do you think?

Thanks!

I figure that whenever is buy price much lower than lowest sell price, someone is manipulating the price to go down. Just like yesterday and this morning:
http://doge.yottabyte.nu/

On a positive note, a little price fluctuation, trading doge is always a good thing. It makes this currency that much  more alive and used.

To the moon!

1 satoshi is incoming

R.I.P Doge Sad

Another retard to ignore.

Maybe he is right? Who knows what is happening in his imagined world

Even still, this is by far the most volatile it has ever been. I don't know what to make of it. Rock solid at 28-30 for 2 weeks. Then jumped to 50 for a few days, fell back down to 35, then rocketed to 150?

Some manipulation going on methinks. Granted, due to the rocketing, so did the difficulty. So it may stay, but I doubt it. It's 3x the value per month of litecoin right now.. Can't see that holding very long.

I think it's real. If this is manipulation then this is very expensive manipulation. http://coinmarketcap.com/ 24 h trading vol doge 8.1 mil, litecoin - 6.8 mil. And doge is viral, friendly. Soon we see 200 and much more.

I am with you. DOGE is viral and friendly. Excellent community support and DOGE promotions. Regardless if this is manipulation or not, I see it go way above 200 in the future.

BTC to Support (Water) Research and Science
by
MsD
on 03/01/2014, 22:57:55 UTC
First, I want to warn that this thread has two topics. One is general topic about BTC involvement in science and research. The other topic is a particular example of breakthrough research that is deemed 'radical' by current system, which needs our help.

How Can We Make It Happen? That is where I need you.

Why? Because currently available funding sources don't look favorably on radical research projects, such as, *water research*, any type of biohealing, natural ways etc.

Currently hot: Professor Gerald Pollack at the University of Washington has recently discovered 4th phase of water via nonetheless but proper scientific method and without dedicated funding for it. Evidence suggest that water in this phase is critical for cellular function! (99% of our cells are water cells. This is by count, not by volume or mass.)

To continue this research Dr. Garald Pollack is trying to raise funds through Indiegogo.com, a global platform for crowd funding.

Please take a look at Dr. Gerald Pollack's short campaign video. It explains water research vision and rationale for the next wave of studies. These studies will objectively test various waters for their ability to reverse pathologies including cancer, diabetes, and several other devastating diseases.
http://peatarian.com/32093/lets-help-gerald-pollacks-project

More about the 4th phase of water:
Check the "Ever wonder?" section at the bottom of the page!
http://www.ebnerandsons.com/

Please:
Help figure out how we could create mutual win-win support and interaction between BTC/alternative currencies and so called 'radical' research.

My Ideas: create a coin dedicated to it (how would this coin bring USD?), ask scientist to start accepting e-currency for donations, or better yet for salaries Smiley
