Re: How much did you invest?

I invested my life for the past 2 years and have only worked in bitcoin businesses, living off of and paying debts *only* with bitcoins I earned from work I have done inside of Bitcoin. I don't see that option though.

I salute you!

I don't think we've seen the end of the correction that began today.  I'm confident we'll go below $100 before we reach $200 again.  Though I don't see it getting anywhere like as low as $50. More like the $80 mark, and not for long.

Wishful thinking. I hope you're right  Grin

The first sell of was in 2011 and teh big  one was two weeks ago so obviously we're at return to normal.
This shit is going to fall hard within the next few days. Bitcoin hangs from the thread that is mt. gox. If anything at all bad happens to them, the whole market is fucked.

Haha, so we're headed down to ...breaks out the calculator $3? Being optimistic?

The true valuation based on fundamentals should be around $55.

now is this strictly based on number of bitcoin VS. difficulty to get?

So, has anyone received their USD back from bitfloor yet this week?  As it stands now, I have not. Not saying I won't, but every day that passes doessn't make me feel any better.

just wondering...

I have read, either in this thread or another that one person so far has said they got their funds. He said that it was also a substantial amount however he was one of the select few that got an email about it. Sounds sketchy to me

So far I think I have read that 1 person here was able to cash out and it was a large cast and also relieved an email. I have email their support and have not gotten anything. A statement on how this is being handled would be nice. Right now still looks bogus

is there anything to say we wont get funds back? I too am VERY skeptical because the whole thing is sketchy. Some people get emails some dont, hell I only had usd in bitfloor for 2 whole days and it shut down. On the other hand I am hoping i get my funds that i requested back. I can honestly say that if I dont it would be the end of bitcoin for me unfortunately. Although I believe in it.

I literally put my funds in on Monday. If they knew this was going to happen they shouldn't have allowed me to put my funds in. Still garbage

if current system is too bad, go use person-2-person transactions.
Because that's so easy to do right? Wake up. Bitcoin will die a slow death if the only thing left is P2P exchange.
no it wil not.

How do you plan on getting the merchants and average non-tech savvy Joe onboard with using bitcoin as their main form of currency if they have to jump through hoops to get some in or out?

Believe it or not the rest of the world outside the (pretty small) bitcoin community very much runs on fiat. If you don't make this easy as hell as in the click of a button or an ATM machine screen, then they won't get onboard. Nobody will take it seriously and it will remain traded by just a bunch of "geeks and hackers" as the MSM puts it.

Exchanges are the key to this and our current Achilles' heel vs banks and governments until the world is free of fiat.

This is how I feel as I fit the average joe that isn't tech savvy at all. I find it overwhelming still, but still sticking with it mainly because I love e idea and see the potential. I cannot say the same with people I have talked too about it, I get em excited they see how much work it is and then get bored

Just out my request for withdraw in. This was my first week with them and my last. It's frustrating. Finally get up land running and then this happens. I am very skeptical if I will get my funds.

Re: two factor authenication

You might be able to set it so that you only have to do 2-factor once for a particular browser-computer combination, but if you or some malicious person tries to log in from a different computer or browser, you/him will need to have your phone.

Also, it looks like Google uses the SMS/Text messaging system.

Yes this wont work as I wont be able to get any sms/text.
2 factor authentication confused me at first but its fairly simple. The site gives you a code to scan with your phone when you set it up and your phone generates a new code using the sites code and the current time, they're only valid for a short time (I think its 60 seconds).

The phone doesn't need to be online to do this, google authenticator just keeps generating the codes endlessly while its running. The method used is quite simple and can be implemented by anyone, google authenticator is just a convenient app for it but there are plenty more ways to generate them. Keep a copy of the code the site provides and you can use it in other apps to generate the code you need, a google chrome plugin is probably the next most convenient but it should never be used on the same PC or even another on the same local network.

An old PC kept permanently offline is very useful with Bitcoin and is the next best thing to a smartphone for 2 factor auth but I guess it wouldn't be much use to you in your current situation.

If my phone does not have to be online then I should be able to use this. I have the Google Authenticator app on my phone. I was just nervous that once I turned it one that I would get locked out of my Acct. and lose my bitcoin.

cashing out bitfloor
by
MykelJH
on 18/04/2013, 08:03:00 UTC
Ok. So I have some USD on bitfloor and want to cash out obviously, question is besides my ID and bank acct/routing number will there be anything else required to transfer? I am out of the country and cannot go to a bank  (not sure that I would need to) but has anyone cashed out with them before? What was the process?

Will it better to have my GF back in the states do this process?

Thanks

Yes, it's a small inconvenience for a huge increase in security.

I am not in the country right now and wont be back until june. So I have to rely on "spotty" wifi service. Thats why i wanted to confirm
