Ffab thanks! I did read the readme  (badly) and saw those options but it didnt stop the reporting error. I'm guessing I have to install the driver you mentioned first and then add that line. (My miner is working fine so I dont really want to start messing with drivers as I'm sure windows will mess things up for me if I did!) So will have to just ignore the error repeating. Thanks again! Myrdd.
Wise move.  I'm pretty sure that if you installed the driver, you wouldn't be able to use the setup you are using since it would replace the driver you are using.  Ouf of curiosity, though, why don 't you want to install the driver and use the device in cgminer (even if a separate instance) instead of running two different miners?

As my block erupters were working in cgminer I did try that first, but with no luck, probably windows fault, and bfgminer worked straight off. Now I know how to fix it, I may try cgminer again when I get a little time. Guessing it may hash a little better?

My question is how do I stop cgminer from searching for or reporting this device, as it makes for messy on screen monitoring of my block eruptors.

Add
"--usb BAS:0"

It is covered in the readme under Advanced USB Options

Error supressions/usb detection surpression question

Apologies for noobish question.

I have  been using cgminer to run my 6 usb block eruptors for a few weeks now with all being great. Now that I have finally received my BFL little(which also performs perfectly well, running with bfgminer for now) my cgminer keeps reporting:

Code:
USB init, open device failed, err -12, you need to install a Windows USB driver for - BFL device 5:1

But I already have all the drivers installed and the device is running just fine in another window.

My question is how do I stop cgminer from searching for or reporting this device, as it makes for messy on screen monitoring of my block eruptors.

The line that initializes the block eruptors is:

Code:
cgminer-nogpu.exe -o stratum.btcguild.com:3333 -u myUserName_com9 -p 1234  ---icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S //./COM9

Apologies again for a noobish question! Many thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Very easy and smooth transaction.

Many thanks

I think the OP was wondering if theres android software to drive the jalapeneo and get it mining (without the need for a PC) I understand BFL were saying something about developing this?

(I'm not a BFL apologist but. . .  please all do not turn this into another anti BFL rant, theres plenty of other threads where that can be posted.)

Is this the correct homepage of cgminer:

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/

Seems down to me.

Never mind I have 3.1.1 which is quite recent. All 3 USb miners hashing away right now. Quite warm. Strange to actually ever receive an ASIC!

Getting 333 -333 -334 out of my 3. Very warm to touch have a fan pointed at pc, may get another.

Thanks A+C for excellent administration of group buy, and thanks Bob for link to easy walkthrough setup for an ASIC newbie!

What mining program do you recommend? What's the hash rate?

Overclocked, running at 78-85 degrees depending on ambient. 3+months no problems. Consensus seems to be this is a little too hot.

I was thinking of this! I have miners going for the first time this summer. All winter I have a naturally cool 10-16 c room (attic) but it gets to 25/27 C in summer for a few weeks. Was looking at an air con machine, but that's an expensive electric product!

I don't have bitcoins, but have paypal.  Not looking to pay $500 on ebay, but someone with a decent price.

I have some, but wouldn't part with them for less than the value you listed sorry  Embarrassed

Lets face it once bought they have very very low running costs, as such Roi can be high as difficulty raises wont make the power consumption a problem for a long time.

Also difficulty has been raising much slower than anyone would have guessed 6-12 months ago!

With bitcoin running at roughly 100 times fiat standard denomination I agree! (I know we shouldn't be comparing to fiat, but that's how people currently think and work. It has also been the most difficult thing when getting family and friends involved! They agree to buy 1 then I say it's £88 and they say that's a pity I'd buy one for a tenner!)

He saying books are straight so no body can be going to jail, but hundred-of-thousand of BTC being stashed away in secret and not being found when going bankrupt.   Law can only say bad managers, not fraud.  He not telling how he finds out this - but he having something to do with p2pool.

Topic being hijacked as another anti BFL rant. Enough of those threads elsewhere. Please move there.

Back on topic of BlockEruptors, can you post pics of colours etc?

So excited!  Grin

Newbie orphaned block transaction fees question.
by

on 31/05/2013, 18:23:55 UTC
My question to try and better understand what us on the wiki, is what happens to the transaction fees associates with transactions that were processed in the orphan blocks? I know the teansactions themselves are queud to be added to the correct blockchain but surely there's no way to take the bitcoins off the miner that generated the orphan block? If the transaction fees simply disappear doesn't that mean we will eventually over time lose bits of bitcoins until we start running out!?

Am be putting in pre-order for 5.  If it would be helping, I could be preordering another 10.  Could also be picking up any units from first batch that pre-order person not taking.

All units from the first batch are already paid. You can try to contact the buyers to know if they are interested to sell their units.

If you are ready to pay for 15 units, place the pre-order. There is not a maximum limit of units to order the second batch.

My brother is saying that you are asking for more in shipping charges than the cost of the goods?  Over $1200.00 US for shipping 20 ounces of merchandise?  Is this being correct Huh

I don't know about total, but he has used uk Royal Mail postal calculator to correctly calculate postage as far as I am concerned!

BitcoinPlus is a Scam.

If you ever successfully manage to mine enough to justify a payout it will crash.

Lovely site.

Problem: It links to BitcoinPlus a well known scam (search this forum) on which I have personally lost 0.3bitcoins! (Theres a crash page whenever anyone mines enough to generate a payout.)

Cheers.

in summer if the sun is on the roof it can get up to 24/25 degrees C in there. Is that too hot? I will obviously place a fan facing my pc+miners.

It depends how big the rig is. The heat generated is directly related to the wattage the rig draws. If your attic is too small, or not well ventilated enough, the heat will build up before it finds a natural balance (and that will push your ambient temperature up). Find out what temperature sensors your equipment has (NOT just the miners themselves, your PC can also suffer in overheated conditions) and check them as the summer comes around. Sorry, there's no single correct answer to your question!

Waw thanks I agree with monitoring!

I only have 5 of these usb blockeruptors coming. Opening the windows in the attic will maintain a max temp of about 25 degrees. The question I guess I'm asking is operating at 25 c for 12 hours a day 6 weeks  a year too hot for them? I will obviously have a fan pointed at them to maintain airflow. (Most of the year they will be below 19c)

My rig will be in the attic. It is very cold in winter months sub 10 degrees C (and actually uses electric heating so electricity costs are non existent 6months+) However in summer if the sun is on the roof it can get up to 24/25 degrees C in there. Is that too hot? I will obviously place a fan facing my pc+miners.

Opinion?
