Looks like 0.8.1 was released on the github 3 days ago, anyone play around with it yet?
How did it go?

0.8.1 release was for basic support for rx 6000 cards. I have a 6900xt that's run on the new release quite stably for the last several days, just under 64 MH/s for 130W.

So for a multiple GPU rig, I would just set eth config with commas similar to this?   --eth_config=A,B,,,C,B   ?

Yes.

1060s can do 460kh/s and 1070s can do 650kh/s on VerthashMiner. Don't think your kernel merits the 0.005btc fee, and I caution anyone against wasting money on it.

Getting 11MH/s on ETH with 5700 XT, on older version like 0.7.22 i got 50mh/s. Haven't changed anything.
If you have the gpu connected to a monitor, add argument --eth_big_mode_adjust=1024. It's a resolution issue and the miner can overallocate VRAM unless you add this argument. Will be addressed in a future release.

I cant get proper hashrate on the GPU connected to the monitor.
That one gets 1mhs, while the others get 53mh/s.

How did you arrive at the conclusion it's not thermal throttling?
[/quote]

Cause the core clock drops to 930 mhz as soon as the memory is above +400 . Card temp hovers around 45-50c.

When a card thermal throttles it at least gets high enough to produce heat , my trio x does not even achieve that.

I experienced today my friend xc3 ultra thermal throttling and its not at all how my card behaves . His card hit 99mhs and stayed there for 5 min before throttling and crumbling down to 85 mh while temps were reaching 70C.

Pretty sure its a power limit issue . Some have fixed that by flashing the bios with a different brand bios with higher power limit .
[/quote]

You're only looking at one temp sensor. I know because I have the same issue with mine, where gpu temp looks low but there's more under the surface. If you have software like hwinfo64/gpu-z, you may notice some entries for performance limit. This will tell you whether it's thermal or power limit hindering your performance. The general consensus seems to be memory overheating with OC, and I've noticed thermal throttle being the performance limit even with low GPU temp reported in afterburner.

Does anyone know how to relate TRM device number IE -d 0,1,2 etc to the physical card in the rig on Ubuntu 20.4?

Thanks

In the past when I've needed to do this, the best way has been to change fan speed for one card in software to max speed, will then be easy to tell which physical card corresponds to which number in software.

dok, tried the 2 threads on ethash, trivial hashrate boost from 64.1 to ~64.3. bus width and overall memory bandwidth will hamstring this card on ETH, was somewhat expected; whether or not the cache can help in some way is yet to be determined I guess.

Tested various multi-threaded configs on cn_xhv, best final result is still 2400 H/s.

Will reach out on discord for cn_gpu.

@doktor83 kudos for being one the first devs to add experimental support for big navi.

No luck on cn_gpu for 6900xt, gpu is hashing but not getting any accepted shares on pool. Thoughts?

Can mine cn_xhv with accepted shares, strange behavior, hashrate will oscillate b/t 2100-2600 until settling around 2400.
Tried varying intensities, gpu seemed to prefer using dual threads, but similar results with respect to oscillating for first minute or two after startup.

Yes i have actually, now that you mentioned cn_gpu, because i just remembered i didnt compile it the way i should have Smiley
Going to be fixed in next release.

I dont have a 6900xt so i couldn't test, but looking at the specs i think you could try running 3 or maybe even 4 threads.

Code:
--gpu-intensity 896+896+896

For settling the oscilations you could try the new-old thread delay parameter i added, --gpu-extra-config (check details in Help\Gpu_Tweaking_And_Boost.txt)

Can you test it on ETHASH, im curious about the results ?

@doktor83, did test on ethash and performance is in line with other top miners, ~64.1 MH/s. About the oscillations, I was already using your new parameter which did help boost the hashrate to the 2400. It's tough to know what delay is proper, seems the gpu eventually settles on most appropriate workload distribution due to the oscillating going away after a minute or two. Will be interested to see how SRB performs on cn_gpu after updated compilation, XMR_Stak gets around 5k h/s.

Re: GPU miner in closed (server) cases - need some help
by
N2DCRYPT
on 01/06/2020, 16:56:21 UTC
Hello,

at the moment I have about 100 GPUs in a basement room with only one open side (former window) that serves one half air intake, other half air output with each having one big radial fan.
Temperatures get a bit uncomfortable in summer though. The room is about 150m³ big and I did not separate into cold/hot side because I have open air rigs with 12 cards each.

Now I want to put the cards all in server cases with delta fans and solve the temperature problem once and for all.
Can you recommend some good cases? Most of my cards are 3 slot height though (and none are blower style cards). So that's a problem with some configurations. Since I am not restricted to have them fit in server racks, the cases could be custom sized. But I barely find cases that fit 10 cards or even 12.
I tried some years ago a case with Vegas but they did not ventilate enough due to the small gaps in between them.
I am looking for small footprint, stacked, maximum airflow, high service convenience. So I can stack them, connect the intake air so the cold side, the other vent to the hot side and end the struggle in summer.

Any suggestions what I should look for?

Thank you in advance!!

Rosewill has server cases on sale. I am using these for my vegas due to the need for dual PSUs:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rosewill-8-GPU-Mining-Case-Frame-Dual-PSU-Support-Maximum-Airflow-Crypto-Mine/382470242450?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225074%26meid%3D9716a549d72c4bee9c369607d48a142c%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D183165870150%26itm%3D382470242450%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DRosewill&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A576c37ac-a420-11ea-af07-74dbd1800c3a%7Cparentrq%3A709878671720a9cd5c357b7dfff632b4%7Ciid%3A1

But I also use these cases from rosewill that are also on sale for the rigs I can run on one psu:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rosewill-RSV-L4000C-4U-Rackmount-Server-Case-Chassis-for-Bitcoin-Mining-Machine/173216919921?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225074%26meid%3D9569b0b6cb4f492b9cd73e8c213820dc%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D11%26mehot%3Dsb%26sd%3D382470242450%26itm%3D173216919921%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithBBEV2bDemotion%26brand%3DRosewill&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

Point of caution on the 2nd case though, if you have blower style cards you'll need to mod the cases to reverse the mounting bars to get the air blowing away from the front, default mount has the cards blowing air towards the front. For the money and for new cases, I don't think you can do better than these. Have to factor shipping costs in for anything you buy, cases are heavy.

Why are you even here - whats your goal?  You’re constantly spreading completely baseless BS, and clearly have no clue on how to tune GPUs/miners.

Go away troll.

Truth shall set us all free - share your source code to prove I’m full of shit!

Tbh, you're a nobody--and the devs that work on this miner are too busy producing software that this community values to have to prove anything about you one way or another.

So go spout your nonsense elsewhere; you're polluting a thread that's useful to me and diluting other member's worthwhile commentary with your bs.

But, thanks for getting to what you're really looking for, free code for nothing, probably to remove the well-earned devfee.

Looks like the first Ethereum asic ever released is coming to its end of life. According to a few people it no longer can mine ETC which is on Epoch 328.

Ethereum is about 11 epoch behind so it's about 55 days from being rendered useless. I wonder how many of the E3 miners are in existence and what effect it will have on the overall hashrate for ETH.

We will see what happens to the ETC hashrate after this however usually the ETC has a lot of volatility due to pool switching between ETH and ETC.

Funny that ProgPOW finally gets through just about when the first ASIC goes EOL.

In which version does this happen? Latest should work, but would like to test it directly. I had one version in between where it was indeed broken :/

Lollie, this is with the most recent version, 0.9.7.

Edit: It also looks like the memory requirement for the 16G kernel may have increased from previous? Not sure if that's what's causing the break.

Any recommendation for heavy algo and Radeon VII? I want to use extra memory to bump hash rate but it crashes immediately if I set 64 or higher intensity ((

Red, Vega FEs optimal intensity on Heavy is 123-124 with double threads... I know it's a different card but I'd expect the optimal intensities to be similar given the similar memory capacity, although FEs have more compute units. Will have to pick up a VII one of these days.

Claymore, I know I may be asking a lot here, but just in case it's not too much additional effort... The Radeon Pro Duo is technically Polaris. It's got Samsung Mem (16GB on each GPU); two WX7100s/RX 580s.
Was hoping your straps would work without having to try bios flashing the master and slave gpu bioses, but the miner instaquits it I run as admin with -strap 1. If I don't run as admin, miner runs fine, but with no straps. Believe it's related to errors reading the boot configuration data.
Driver is latest Pro Driver, 19.Q1.2. Have used the AMDMemTweak CLI from Eliovp, and it works, but would like to try the straps you are using in your exe. Others messing with AMD workstation gpus may get some good here too! Thanks!

Check the log file for details. Or create "config.txt" file with options and right-click EthDcrMiner64.exe and select "run as admin", it must work. Or start "cmd.exe" as admin and start miner from it to see what happens, miner cannot close without any messages.

Claymore, many thanks! it worked with the config.txt file, just not the start.bat file.
