Re: Bitcoin right now [Nov 14, 2018]

Massive fear for bitcoin cash fork, so it seems.
Probably after tomorrow market will start to recover, depends on how the fork turns out.

was my first idea as well. All this raerae cursing and threatening with attacking other's chains (empty blocks) doesn't make crypto look like the serious business it usually is.

In addition to that we have quite some fears lingering in whole economics. Stocks are bearish, many experts talking about the next big crisis around the corner, national depts are skyrocketing, Italy doesnt care about EU's financial rules........................................................

looks like bitcoin isn't considered the safe haven like gold to many big investors (yet?)

As others pointed out before: nice moment to buy some bitcoin and good alts.

cheers

Those "old" coins have already proven that they work and that they have dedicated teams supporting them. New coins have to do that first to catch up or even take over.

If the new coins have advantages they will grab their share of the pie for sure, but as the whole crypto market can still grow a lot and I believe it will, there's room for many coins. It's always good to have competition and alternatives.

Re: This guy predicts bitcoin to be $20,000 in 2 years. What do you think?
by

In my opinion these predictions are well possible if we have a slow growth. We can't say what the future brings and we didn't have something like cryptos yet.....

Maybe they'll all fail because of bugs what's very unlikely imo. But if they fail, they'll be more or less worthless. I don't think that any entity be it banks, investors, governments or whatever can seriously harm them on purpose. So if the community can solve the technical problems (and I trust those guys...) cryptos won't fail imo.

Bitcoin is a new kind of a currency and it's a great one imo with many big advantages over others, I don't go into details here. It's still some "hassle" for a newb to get bitcoins or other cryptos and few stores accept cryptos yet. It's changing slowly and cryptos are more something to invest into atm. BUT things could change rapidly now that more and more ppl are aware of cryptos and the fact that they work well.

History has shown many inflations and often times people in countries with high inflation used foreign currencies because they didn't lose their value too fast. Now that cryptos are available and most of the people walk around with a quad-core-computer (smart phone) in their pockets, why shouldn't merchants in such a country prefer the "easy" to get cryptos? if that happens in just one country the so called market cap of something around 100bln $ that bitcoin currently has is just nothing in comparison.

So x10, x100 or even more are possible in the near future imo. But we could also see x0.0001.. I for myself doubt that and think btc will be worth more than 20k USD in 2 years maybe even more than 100k, it'll maybe take more than 2 years but I'll hodl some, alts as well.

Question concerning cold storage (Bitcoin)
by
Naccamotor
on 21/10/2017, 15:14:32 UTC
short:
Is a wallet created on an offline computer with Electrum unique?

longer version:
I like Electrum and have used it for quite some time now. Now I wanna do this:

http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/coldstorage.html

I did research a little (just a little sorry...) but couldn't find the answers to the questions further down. Maybe one of the pros here can answer them easily. Thanks.

Electrum can't find out if the Address it creates is already in use since I plan to never plug this computer to the internet again after downloading Electrum. So....

1. Will it for sure create a new address?
2. Are all addresses created unique? For sure?
3. Do I have to hurry to put BTC into the offline created address, before anyone else gets it in a hot wallet?

"Bitcoin is a bubble, but blockchain technology is interesting." that seems to me, what 99% of all bankers say.

If you read more of those (felt) 99% you realise that they lack a lot of understanding about cryptocurrencies themselves. Maybe they're great experts in their own field but the longer I read bullshit from bankers like "bitcoin is anonymous, and therefore only for criminals"..... the more I wonder why do they expose their ignorance that much, afraid?

A replacement for Ether running on Ether-blockchain.... sounds stupid (my oppinion)

Targeting mass adoption.... sounds great... but what are you actually doing to reach that target?

Re: Do you trade based on your emotions?
by

To the question (header):
Emotions have a big influence into my trading decisions and honestly I doubt anyone could trade completely emotionless. How could you do it without hope for success? No one knows the future so best thing you can have is hope for success imo hope is an emotion. This hope can be stirred by knowledge of the market, news, analysis of any kind but in the end to decide wether to invest or not, you need some "gut feeling".

To the ICO:
Interesting approach, sounds like it could become a real big thing, still my guts tell me that it won't and this won't be the first ICO I invest into, I could argue for or against investing here with many pros and a lot of cons but I think it's up to yourself if you want to invest or not, laugh at me or feel sorry for me after becoming rich due to investing here IF it will skyrocket.

Good luck ppl

I've sold 70% of my BCH at a good rate (800$/BCH) and kept the other 30% just in case I was wrong. Now I feel bad for not having sold all of my BCH, I doubt it will ever be at 0.1BTC or higher again. Though the world needs good alt coins... imo there are better alts out there.

After watching your video I wanted to say: "So sorry for your 100 bucks."

But after thinking about it a little more, I'm meanwhile expecting this to last longer than a year before it collapses. There are so many alt coins that are just copy and paste coins with empty promises, this one offers a working pyramid scheme Smiley

Since it's a working alt coin we can hope it will crash "smoothly".... still I wouldn't bet on it, not a cent at any time.

Imagine this in your country
by
Naccamotor
on 15/09/2017, 23:15:24 UTC
Imagine that after ppl have burnt their fingers using toasters the state decides to ban toasters. A week later online shops have to stop business within 2 weeks. Some online shops may stay in business for an additional month because they've never sold toasters....

Luckily there's Bisq..

Lucky me for living in Switzerland.

I bet in the long run Chinese government will cut their own flesh, IF they really keep up the ban. Ppl WILL find a way around. No government can design the future. Imo cryptos will be the future of payment.
