Re: is this the end of crypto?
by

It can't really be the end of Crypto. The falling of the market was based on a bunch of factors such as the possibility of market manipulation and the talk of impending regulations, This type of slump happens in any type of market but just as usual there shall always be a bounce as time goes. Apart from the financial aspect connected to the Crypto market, there is still a huge gathering of companies taking up various forms of Blockchain tech to improve the way that they operate as businesses for efficiency and productivity. There is a lot of FUD being spread about Crypto but the movement of peer to peer distribution is far to strong to bury your head in the sand clutching on to your cash.

Re: Potential coins
by

There are a lot of potential coins and projects that could have potential in the coming future. My personal favourites are:
ETH (because of the adaptation of their Blockchain tech but it might be too late to get into that one)
IOTA (They have a lot of adaptation by big companies and organisations such as governments)
Cardano (there is an interested amount of chatter on with connection to their consensus algorithm)
Waves (might be worth holding in the long run with more adoptation)
Bitcoin Origin (seems to be a bit of excitement about the possibility of this project. Greener project, Proof of Ambassador algorithm, Sever-less Blockchain etc etc, [read through their whitepaper])

Keep on the look out for coins that interest you personally

Re: what makes you trust a new altcoin?

When looking at a new coin, I do a lot of research on the particular coin and all it has to offer me or the real world application. The more information, the better. If the coin has a lot of unrealistic ideas then I am more likely to be hesitant. When a project, such as Bitcoin Origin per say, has a lot of potential upside to it in terms of ambitious ideas but achievable aims such as a multi-fork or a severless Blockchain, then I am much more likely to invest in such a project. There has to be a balance in the amount of strengths and weaknesses. They have a large amount of potential at Bitcoin Origin if it goes well so keep an eye out for that and read up on their whitepaper
Here's their whitepaper to make it easier for you: https://www.bitcoinorigin.io/pdf/BitcoinOrigin-PositionPaper.pdf

Is it a good method of attracting clients to use their exchanges by offering them benefits of their tokens for transacting on the exchange that can be used for whatever purpose they decide or redeemable for other coins? ie. Binance Coin

With Ripple CEO comparing Bitcoin to Napster, is BTC the coin breaking open the Crypto door into the mainstream to let other more progressive coins pass through into the mainstream?

Do the "improvements" of BTC Cash open the door to a monopoly in the profits of mining by big companies such as Canaaan etc are doing with BTC mining? The increased rewards for mining etc would be enough of an impetus for big companies to control the mining market for their own profit?

Re: the future of bitcoin forks?
by

Bitcoin forks are a great idea for the future of Crypto because they improve the capabilities of coins coming into the market with subtle improvements on the original BTC. The capabilities and adaptation can go either way. They all have some sort of improvement they're bringing to the market such as Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold etc. Even saw recent chatter about a Bitcoin Origin, which looks like it might have a ton of potential, if they can pull off the improvement leaps they're attempting.

Have a look at this:

How difficult is it to transfer between multiple currencies in a short amount of time or do I have to convert each coin into another to trade each time? I've heard of something called a Multi Fork being introduced by a coin called Bitcoin Origin. How would that even work?

Is Ripple about to step into the mainstream market more with news of events such as notable names such as Ashton Kutcher using XRP for public donations etc? Does this mean its the right time to get into Ripple as it attempts to take on ETH for the title of King Of The Altcoins?

Have you guys read the reports of a new form of Malware out there that has been used to hijack people's Apple Macs to use to mine Monero. It's called something like "'mshelper". All of this after Mac users used to say that their devices do not get affected by the troubles of us "common folk" but guess that's old news now. Beware Mac users!

Re: Is energy consumption going to hold bitcoin back?
by
Nimblecrown
on 25/05/2018, 07:24:01 UTC
The amount of energy BTC mining consumes is insane at this point and will definitely be its biggest flaw for a while. There are figures that mining BTC currently consumes more power than 159 countries around the world. There is no way that figures like that are sustainable unless BTC miners have some plan to move to greener forms of mining or more power efficient mining farms or BTC as a whole has a plan to switch to another consensus algorithm other than Proof of Work but that is hypothetical. This is one of factors that makes people believe that BTC has an expiration date.

Re: 2018 Ethereum price....
by

With the latest reports that Ethereum is about to come up with new forms of token protocols that will possibly replace the ERC20 Token at some point in the near future. Is it a smart idea to go deeper with Ethereum before these protocols come into play and possibly take the value of ETH to the moon? Also how will all of this affect other Altcoins that are using Ethereum's Blockchain tech and ERC20 tokens?

First thing you should do is begin monitoring the highest rated coins on most people's lists and research all of them in depth to see which one feels right for you

Other than the obvious candidates like ETH, XRP, LTC etc. My personal ones to watch are ones like TRX, XMR, WAVES, NEO, LSK. That is my personal opinion on a few but you'll probably uncover a lot more after in-depth research.

Good luck investing

Re: Do you think Verge can do better in future?
by

Is Verge even worth getting into at this point in the market? With the news that they were hacked again this month, making it twice in the space of two months and something around a million $ worth of XVG was stolen. Have they actually made efforts to come up with a permanent solution to the vulnerability that keeps being exploited or is it another temporary fix?

Re: is Bitcoin used to extort people?

Hi there

There are quite a few instances of insidious people using the anonymity of BTC to buy things that would normally be deemed incredibly illegal, extort people etc. These are some of the concerns that government institutions continuously bring up as consequences of BTC but tracking or catching such individuals is getting easier and will probably get much easier as the government regulations that are being spoken about are brought into play

Re: Tactics When Market is Falling
by

Hi

Usually people tend to panic when everyone else is hopping on the selling bandwagon but I personally feel like the better strategy for this is to research what upcoming news or developments may be happening in the coin because it may be good to wait for the dip and get in before the coin has a bounce since most coins have a bounce after the panic has passed and then you can just wait to see if you make a profit on the way up.

I have been reading up on the fact that the Chinese Ministry of Information Technology rated Ethereum as the #1 for of Blockchain tech and Bitcoin only made to #13. This has to be a big validation of Ethereum tech being the future in Crypto and Bitcoin having an expiration date in the near future. Even though China has banned the trade of Crypto, that ranking is a big deal.

I've been watching Waves since it was at about $3 and ive seen it go through the massive spike when it got to about $17 and came back down. Is Waves one of the smart Altcoins to hold on to? They don't promise you the world during launches but show their achievements and the possibility of real world application (which seems like a good sign to me)

Im already in it, I just need to know how deeply I need to go?

Re: Is worth buying coins under $1?

Hi guys

I'm looking to invest in a coin that is valued at less than $1. How do  you judge which coins worth below a $1 are worth investing in? Such as Tronix which is in the Top 10 but is still valued at less than a $1

Thanks in advance
