Re: STAR COIN [STR] - The coin with bonus STAR blocks

Cryptsy has already updated their Starcoin wallet to v1.7

We will be releasing a v1.7.1 either tonight or tomorrow that will resolve the slow sync/start-up times and the checkpoint too old warning message.

Is the latest source still at https://github.com/strcoin/starcoin ?  Most recent commit there is May 23rd.  Thanks!

You'll have to notify Cryptsy of the source change, and even then they may not switch since it's not official code.
I opened a support ticket with Cryptsy almost two weeks ago.  It's still "being processed".

Anyone have an idea what's going on with StarCoin?  As of this writing, the last block generated was 777855 approximately 5 hours ago.  Both of my nodes are on the same block, and CoinWarz also lists 777855 blocks.  Difficulty isn't astronomical or anything.  It's almost like something got stuck.

If folks are having troubles getting synced up, my node is up most of the time on 10 Mbit static IP.

All talk about the issue with the wallet, wrong forks, etc. I don't mine 42coin but decided to try to mine some coins solo.
Just found a block and sent coins to Cryptsy. The coins deposited very fast and without any problem, ver. of the wallet v0.7.0.0

What are guys talking about? Didn't notice any problem with 42coin!
Many people (including pools) didn't know about the mandatory client upgrade, so the network forked for a while.  It seems relatively stable now.

Only remaining question for me is which is the company that Konen is partnering with. A lot of people on twitter act like it's too obvious who this is, I guess I am too stupid to figure it out.

All signs lead me to M-Pesa
While I see the logic there, I wonder why an already established electronic fiat payment system would embrace crypto.

I think humans in general (not just Americans) are quick to fear that which they do not understand.  It's a defense mechanism.

But the media surely plays a part.  If the only time you heard the word "Bitcoin" was in conjunction with "Silk Road", you'd probably think negatively as well.  (Unless you were a fan of Silk Road products...)

i am using cex.io for few days and can someone tell me how is possible to price of btc drops and price of ghs rises. sorry if question is stupid but that not looks logical to me. thank you in advance.

Well, one school of thought is that since BTC value is dropping, mining is less profitable, so GHS price should drop too.  I think that's what you describe.

Another school of thought is since BTC value is dropping, it takes less fiat to buy a GHS.  So instead of it costing $6 for that GHS, it's now costing $4, so the price of GHS goes up to compensate.

You could say the truth is somethere in the middle, but as it has already been said logic and rationality rarely seem to enter the cryptocurrency world.

Is 42 now a hybrid PoW/PoS coin?

I am a small time holder, but I have not been keeping up with the latest developments. I think I remember someone discussing changing 42 to PoS but I did not keep up with the thread. Is that what the hard fork is for, or is 42 having some other changes made to it?

I do not think so.  PoS was discussed as one of the options (at least by posters in this thread), but I think the devs went with KGW instead.

5) New feature added, of being paid out in MINT instead of BTC.  We will be testing this process over the next few days, and assuming no major hiccups, this is hopefully the first of a number of coin options.

Why did you choose MINT?

Try these nodes:

69.147.229.226
76.164.206.58
212.83.191.197

e.g. addnode=69.147.229.226 in your starcoin.conf file.

Bump for lulz.

How'd that withdrawl go, OP?

I never actually had anything in there.  I think I created the account around the first of January.

Is there a problem with the blockchain?  It's been about half an hour since the last block.

Nothing wrong just high difficulty and low hashrates , a block should be solved soon. Smiley

Well, that's the thing - a difficulty of 26 29 is not particularly high.  I understand variance, but a coin with a 42 second target should not go almost an hour without a block.  (55 minutes at this time of writing)

In addition, I'm getting peers connecting to me advertising larger block heights (one said 80349, another over 200000) periodically.  Almost smells like some kind of DDoS attack.

(I'm no crypto expert, but something seems "not right" currently.)

EDIT - got my numbers wrong.
