Re: [ASK] Can We Insert Messages In Transactions On The Bitcoin Blockchain?
by
NotATether
on 05/05/2025, 14:29:54 UTC

In English: Honey, don't WhatsApp me, my wife is already suspicious of me, let's just chat through this.

This is done through the Toncoin network, back to the basic question, as a pioneer in Blockchain technology, can the Bitcoin network do the same?

Mybe this is a stupid question, but I just saw it for the first time & want to know more about what the Bitcoin network can do.

This is not a stupid question at all.

The fact of the matter is that they are idiots for keeping their conversations on a public verifiable ledger instead of using encrypted messaging apps like Signal or even Whatsapp.

Just because people don't know about sending blockchain messages does not mean that it is something that you should try. Especially for sensitive content. (Though I generally discourage infidelity in the first place.)

Verification data for Bitcointalk service providers
by
NotATether
on 05/05/2025, 14:19:13 UTC

As you all know, scammers impersonate the identities of various Bitcointalk.org users on different platforms with the objective of robbing unsuspecting users. This is why it's important to verify the identities of the people you trade with on this forum.

There are two primary methods of verification:

1. Staked Addresses
2. PGP Public Keys (more secure)

When dealing with Bitcointalk users who provide escrow, campaign management, and other types of high-value services, you should always demand for one of these verification methods. The more addresses and keys provided, the more confident you can be that you're dealing with the real person (short of a SWAT team raid and hardware confiscation, but that is extremely rare and is out of scope for this thread).

On this thread I will list the profile information for all service providers on Bitcointalk, their handles, and how to verify their authenticity if you want to contact them. Especially for interactions outside Bitcointalk.

~WIP~

Re: NotATether's Professional TRX and TRC-20 => BTC exchange service

Hello dear NotATether,

Again I need some BTC, i need 250 usd worth of BTC now to buy some miner equipment.

let me know dear if you accept this high amount as i could see you stated max 0.0007BTC,,

Sure, I can do that. USDT right? It will be at 5% premium as normal.

Yes, usdt,
Since it is a partial big deal, could you lower the commission a little something like 3%, my brother, I would appreciate that..  Smiley

Code:
Amount in BTC: 0.002614 BTC
BTC Address: bc1q7qucznecscvpk7jzd9v0099eq25rz8hc9qp436

3% for this amount is not going to be enough to cover the minimum gas fee for TRX (I don't keep a TRON reserve), so I think 5% is reasonable. It is only roughly a $12 difference anyway.

If you need exactly 0.002614 BTC, I can arrange for that if you're OK with sending 262 USDT.

I actually don't know what's the real issue with mine, why the verification process hasn't been completed yet, it's looks like I will be starting afresh if sir NotATether don't mind.
I may restart today or tomorrow probably.

That's strange.

Approximately how much progress does your node make per day?

If the internet speed is decent, it should take 1-3 weeks to finish on average.

Many modern games are so badly optimized that you can't even run them on 5 years old high end GPUs.

Obligatory homage to Crysis here  Grin

But in all seriousness though, it was pushing the raw CPU power, not the graphics card.

If I tap the "Add to playlist" button on a playlist Apple generated, and tap "New Playlist" (counter-intuitive, I know), will this freeze the playlist from any songs being added or removed?

eXch may have shut down, but you shouldn't worry! At BitMixList, you can find all of the highest quality private exchangers available on the internet.
It looks like you are trying to use the shut down in your marketing. Cleaver 😉

Lol  Smiley in all seriousness though, I have found a memory-dump of privacy exchange sites in the Exchanges section. So eventually I'll have to list those too.

I even made a new website about brutally honest exchange reviews. I'm not going to link it though, because there are t actually any reviews yet.

Prepaid burner phones or prepaid SIM cards aren't avalaible officially without KYC <cut>

Seriously? You can no longer buy a prepaid SIM card or a burner phone without KYC in Germany? That's a shame. I didn't know that. Here in Croatia, you can still walk into a Tisak (newsstand) or a Tele2 shop and grab a prepaid SIM with no questions asked.

And here I was thinking that you can only get one like that in the US and UK.

No SIMs here without KYC either. (I won't state the country so the TempleOS-namesake nutjob doesn't get the hint, but it's really not that hard if you do a few forum searches   Grin)

But roaming is expensive, so here I am with a local SIM.

I'm more surprised that people aren't entirely on eSIMs yet.

I can't be the only one who was surprised that they didn't ban Binance first and then cryptocurrency payments second, LMAO   Grin

Anyway, good for Kyrgyzstan. This agreement with Binance will certainly be of benefit to crypto users in that county. I wonder how the rest of the ex-USSR bloc will react to this though. They might treat this like El Salvador and either embrace them or be hostile to them.

It was good that Trump helped bring down the trade deficit, but do you have estimates for how much the deficit has decreased for each country?

It can be a web resource if you wish. The important thing is that we have lower deficits with the countries whom we have the most trade.

Alts only rise when Bitcoin is also doing well, I have observed in the past. So as of right now. It is possible we will see an uptrend for some altcoins. Especially Ethereum. WTF has been going on there for the past few months? If I had large cash to spare, I'd invest in Ethereum.

I would have been inclined to say that this event is the main reason for Bitcoin's jump back to almost $100k a few days ago, but it looks like this happened last week and then some days ago. So I guess the market does not react to the SEC anymore.

Re: Britain to bar consumers from borrowing to buy crypto under new regime
by
NotATether
on 04/05/2025, 05:13:39 UTC

I think it's fair because only credit cards are being barred, as the article said, which means that they do not want individual users to be borrowing money and taking loans in order to invest in an asset that might go down in a 12-month period.

You can still use a debit card or wire transfer to purchase crypto from my understanding.
