Electrum 3.0.1 - Popup to upgrade version 4.0 - what to do?

Hey guys,

It has been a while since I used Electrum, but today I wanted to send some BTC and logged back in.

When I tried to send the payment, I got a popup saying that I have to upgrade the wallet to version 4.0, and the popup had some links to download files for separate OS, such as windows, linux etc.. I clicked one of the links, and got the message that the download failed. After doing so, I figured I would be able to update the client through the application itself, but could not find a way to do so. I headed to the Electrum website andfound that this was a malicious popup and that the latest version is 3.3.6.

This is the situation:
My existing Electrum wallet is version 3.0.1
I most likely clicked a malicious link, my browser indicated that download failed, but malware bytes stopped some connection to malicious websites since. (though no threats were detected when I scanned my laptop).
I did not install a version 4 manually (maybe the "failed download" did so automatically).
I have not logged in using my pass in another version of Electrum wallet 3.0.1, and have not entered the pw since potentially downloading the malicious installer.
I have not used my seed anywhere what so ever.

My assumption is the following: My laptop is most likely infected with some shitty malware, but I'm not sure if they are able to access my BTC.

How do I proceed. Can I just download the latest Electrum version on another computer, use seed to install wallet there? Then create new wallet / seed and transfer the BTC just to be safe?

Any thoughts? Smiley Fingers crossed I'm not too far gone, reading others' messages send chills down my spine as I don't want to lose my holdings..

This is a fairly popular exchange, I do not think that they can close or cheat, you have to wait and everything will be decided. Of course it's very bad when any connection disappears and I believe that they improve the connection with the site and feedback from users otherwise they will simply lose their reputation

You better believe that this can happen..

This is another airdropped shit coin with beer glass icon. There is no trades on Etherdelta yet. https://etherdelta.com/#0x7367a68039d4704f30bfbf6d948020c3b07dfc59-ETH

Who drops this stuff..

These shitcoins take away from the real value that crypto's add to the real world, and in my opinion slow the mass adoption of them as it are these coins that people laugh at and say; dude it's a bubble..

1. Wrong section of the forum, try to find the right one next time (it is not too hard).
2. Your're looking to buy an account, which is a very shady behavior.  Cannot you post for 30 days for a Jr. Member account? I do not believe you should be here if you are not willing to spend that time for the community.

If post for 30 days was the only requirement I need, I would have done it Wink However, I'm also looking for another requirement that unfortunately is beyond my control..

You're posting in the wrong section, check Invites & Accounts (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=234.0)
Secondly, Account sales encourage scams, spam, and account farming.

Thanks!

Selling or buying accounts is considered a wrong act and if anything like this is seen by the moderators or Default Trust users both, seller and buyer are tagged with negative trust.
Technically, it is not prohibited to sell or buy accounts as it is not mentioned that way in forum rules, but it is not allowed because people buy high rank accounts and use them to harm others as those accounts are more trusted than smaller ones like Newbie or Jr. member. That is why actions are taken against buyers and sellers of bitcointalk accounts.

I see your point, but as I stated I'm not looking for a high ranked account, I'm looking for a Jr. member account. Smiley
