Hi guys, I have Java installed, downloaded NAS, unzipped, cd to NAS dir, then

java -cp nxt.jar;lib\*;conf nxt.Nxt          and instead of NRS starting it says  'lib: command not found' then a few lines down  'conf: command not found'

Any ideas?

It is an ARM-based Infinitec 8 GB internal memory, 1 GB RAM, currently mains powered. Solar/battery referenced as the "Display Goal"
I just picked it up locally as I saw Nxt NRS tv sticks being referenced in this thread and figured I would try to set one up.
I would say I got the wrong one. That's ok. It is just jealous it doesn't have Nxt like all my other machines!

Hi martismartis, there is no wireless mouse with this one, only a keyboard and separate remote. Maybe Europeans are more familiar with Android TV stick; I had never even seen one before yesterday. I booted into recovery like I normally would to flash a new ROM, flashed a root package specific to the TV stick I acquired, and then rebooted into the Andoid UI. It is at this point I am stuck. The next steps would be 2. install linux 3. install NRS 4. provide a solar powered battery power source to the TV stick. 5. Wifi radio has to work.

There are too many steps for the average user to set up a NRS tv stick node, I will tell you that much. I have NRS 0.8.11 running on my Linux laptops and have rooted Android phones and tablets, but I think that just like phones and tablets, different TV sticks may work differently. It may be just this one is giving me a hard time or I need a standard mouse and keyboard.

martismartis, I have an android tv stick and I am definitely stuck with it. I think I have it rooted, but the whole motion sensor IR keyboard thing is a technological non-starter. I would probably need a real usb keyboard and/or mouse to actually setup NRS on this particular unit. I will send it on after Coinsumm.it for the next Nxt conference ambassadors but I don't think I can have it running NRS by 9 am Tuesday.

Hi Fatih

How is going with TV stick? Are you stuck with it? Smiley

I use radio mouse, which was in the set together with the stick. At which stage are you stuck?

Good morning Infrastructure Committee,
This is a brainstorming session. We stand at the helm of the most efficient blockchain technology available. We need to set a course. We need a roadmap and timeline of Nxt goals.

My Proposed Goals:
Nxt AE release must be coordinated with an effective Marketing Campaign.
Nxt needs to (IMMEDIATELY) put together proper advertisements for programmer jobs complete with description of required duties and offered pay.
Nxt needs a USDollar to NXT registered exchange, preferably in New York State.
Nxt Point of Sale Use Case development.

We should open subthreads once the first top one or two priority projects on the roadmap are identified.

NXT Infrastructure Committee please brainstorm your ideas for Nxt infrastructure goals.

Thank you James for your consideration of this important security issue. There definitely is technical merit in using SSL to avoid plaintext transmissions within the Nxt network, particularly with certain Nxt applications.

Marcus03, You are correct that NXTmixer and NXTcash work trustless.  However, as I mentioned earlier the mere fact that a Nxt transaction succeeds does not equate to guaranteed security of network participants. SSL represents the middle road of network security. It is not wide open for anyone to inspect, record, analyze patterns like the plaintext (HTTP) transmissions method of communication is.

The danger lies in the patterns that can be inferred from the mere fact that data has been transmitted. Originating and destination IPs can be identified and if HTTP is used every transaction can be identified too.
Implementing SSL into the Nxt ecosystem provides an important margin of security for network participants.

If infrastructure committee pays for half, I will authorized NXTcommunityfund to pay for the other half of the SSL cost. Maybe it is more of  marketing thing, but I think there is also technical merit to avoid plaintext transmissions, especially for NXTmixer and NXTcash usage.

Why? Do NXTmixer and NXTcash not work trustless?

Hi Nxt community,

I am going to step out on a limb here a little. Let's say you have a safe in your house (Curve 25519 encryption algorithm) and do not have a lock on the front door to your house (HTTP). Even though you have a really awesome safe, you still don't really want everyone who wants to just wandering around your house.

All modern high security online facilities use a double lock security mechanism. The first lock is the HTTPS secured by a CA. The second lock(s) are the user passwords (names/passwords). Banks, schools, governments, etc. all use SSL connections. In the case of the need to remain anonymous, some nodes can be their own CA and issue their own certificates.

At the end of the day, when the rubber hits the road and the crypto becomes fiat; trusted (known) Nxt gateways that are in AML/KYC compliance will have HTTPS (SSL issued by a root CA). Would you enter your credit card number into a browser window requesting payment details that is NOT displaying the "Lock" icon? If your answer is YES to this question, then some serious study into network security is in order. All information transmitted over HTTP is the equivalent of talking on what used to be known as "the party line" to our grandparents. At least over HTTPS, only the NSA and GCHQ can peer into RSA; everyone else stays out of your house; for now.

Please be your own CA for now if that is what it takes for Nxt to "lock the front door". If anyone thinks I have my interpretation of network security all wrong, let me know. Otherwise, I think the competent and trusted network VPS operators need to take the steps required to make this a reality. Will the network run slower? Yes. Will there be more coding work required to the Nxt core? Yes. Will it cost money? Yes. Is it worth it? I think it is and so do at least a couple other Nxt community members.

Sincerely,
Brian Snyder

opticalcarrier, thank you for carrying the torch on the SSL issue.

As Marcus03 pointed out, "Technically, there is nothing that needs to be protected. The transaction data that is sent from clients to nodes, is the same data that is exchanged between nodes, which themselves do not uses SSL.
Or in other words, the beauty of the implementation lies in the fact that no trust is needed. It can't get any better. Putting SSL on top of it, for me just hides the beauty."

However, in the case of an NXT client operating from behind the firewall of a crypto (freedom) unfriendly nationstate, the mere fact that transactions are transmitted "in the clear" provides easy detection ability that a cryptocurrency transaction occurred. I know that if the primary goal was profit at the core operation level of the Nxt network, SSL would not be considered. The socio-political definitions of what is acceptable to particular jurisdictions is likely to change often in the coming years, and I think that providing maximum security and the ability to maintain plausible deniability to end users is a strategic advantage to Nxt.

The transaction may be secure by design and will succeed, but what good is that if the originator of the transaction runs afoul of misguided local crypto regulations? I don't know if this helps or not: https://www.cacert.org/

Please read article at http://www.nxtcoinmagazine.com/try-the-silky-smooth-nxt-asset-exchange-today/

Mastercoin hasn't done anything to address the "Transaction Malleability issue" besides mandating long confirmation wait times and manually checked withdrawals.

This is the REAL news right here, courtesy of Come-from-Beyond;

so,what the difference or relation between guid and TXID?

Quote from: Come-from-Beyond on March 09, 2014, 10:12:16 PM
I pushed code that supports GUIDs. When Jean-Luc puts it into the production exchanges will be able to use guids to track transactions without worrying about transaction malleability. NIP #1 is not ready yet so I created the solution as I felt it should be.

Bolded for emphasis.  GUID is guaranteed.  TXID subject to transaction malleability.

Nxt Promotional Material Idea

Nxt plans to continue attending conferences and every attendee at the conferences wears their credentials with a lanyard.  A good looking Nxt repeating logo sewn or screen printed on  (white?) on a blue lanyard material would be a very high visibility marketing tool.  We can offer a NXT paper wallet bounty for each attendees official lanyards as we switch them out with Nxt lanyards.

Couple of points: I've stressed that we need a stand with some form of sunlight for the RaspPiSolar, the conference people (who are, so far, totally interested in NXT, btw) think it's a brilliant idea and are going to help as much as possible with stand placement.
Apparently the entire crypto world is going to be attending, this is shaping up to be the biggest BTC conference ever organised (according to the over-worked organisers):

The solarPI is great, but will anything be forged in the demonstration? ;P must be a fat wallet
Good point....need access to very fat wallet. Would any whales be willing to step up and give us access for forging ?
Maybe the unclaimed coins ? Promise not to run off to Costa Rica as soon as the conference ends.  Grin

What happens if you don't forge a cent with a big wallet? They laugh. Maybe play the "it's not about mining/forging" card and watch how the crowd reacts.

Mining does not equal forging.  I could be pool mining some pump and dump alt right now, but it is not even worth the time to compete with the mindless mining masses.  Instead I am forging on the Nxt network, helping secure the Nxt network.

Also, it took a few minutes to download, sync, and verify the entire Nxt blockchain.  Try doing that with the bloated 16GB Bitcoin blockchain.

The main features of the Nxt cryptocurrency ecosystem should be emphasized with the Raspi display.  Generate Authentication Tokens, Demonstrate the Asset Exchange System, Send an Arbitrary Message, Explain Transparent Forging, etc.

The Nxt raspi is not a Mining Rig.  "But it also functions as a space heater the miners claim! I heat my home with it!"

The Nxt network is sustainable, and future proof.  No other cryptocurrency is.  Forget about trying to appeal to the miners with their space heater mentality.  Nxt has a lean code base, fast transactions times, is scalable, and most importantly; the Nxt cryptocurrency is a vibrant and rapidly developing community.

The new2nxt needs a re-direct, or a full re-build, but I think a re-direct to nxtcrypto.org is the best short-term solution.

ATTN: URGENT

The great looking Austin Trifold Brochures that went to the press this weekend (for good money) has links to incomplete web content.  The http://new2nxt.com/ is NOT READY for primetime AT ALL.  Is rickyjames the webmaster at http://new2nxt.com/

Can http://new2nxt.com/ simply be redirected to http://www.mynxt.org/ or http://www.nxtcrypto.org/ immediately please until adequate content is at http://new2nxt.com/

This is the kind of stuff that deserves attention as Nxt presents a more cohesive marketing front moving forward.

I would like to match the business cards I make for Coinsumm.it with the blue Nxt logo on the Trifold Brochures unless anyone has any other suggestions for logo use.

However, Black cards with round large embossed gold Nxt logo on reverse with gold rectangular Nxt Logo on front with contact/web info would look slick too, just would not match Trifold Brochures.

I have keywords on my sites.

Huh

Nxt is developing innovations in the field of Financial Cryptography, an industry five years young.  Nxt is drawing from diverse disciplines including Accounting and Auditing, Programming, Systems Architecture, Cryptography, Economics, Internet, Security, Finance, Banking, Risk, Marketing and Distribution, and Central Banking.

Including some of those industry keywords in the metatags will include your site in a wider variety of searches, therefore raise the site's organic search ranking.  Someone correct me if I am wrong on any of this or if there are more disciplines that Nxt stands at the crossroads of.

Damelon,

Sending more Nxters to Bitcoin meetups to educate Bitcoiners and gain new users is one of the great ways Nxt can gain traction.
Thanks for donating 500 NXT to be distributed in paper wallets in Ireland.
We need more of this type of activity.  Hence the Swarm Request.  We can Swarm the Bitcoin meetups, ethereum meetups, and schedule Nxt meetups and give away NXT Paper Wallets.

QBTC, Great work on keeping Nxtcrypto up to date on web, FB, and Twitter. Thanks!

Allwelder, thanks for all your Nxt web work.  I haven't looked at your search rankings.

Mario123, please add some Nxt NXT Cryptocurrency  etc.  KEYWORDS to the metadata of your sites.

Currently Nxtcrypto sits at #4 on Google Search and mynxt.org is not on the first page of results.  Nxt needs better search ranking.

Nxt Search Engine Optimization is needed.  All Nxt Webmasters please update your html metatags.  Thank you.

High Search Engine Rankings are a good way to add Nxt interest.

Hi Marketing Folks,

Can we get start a Social Marketing Swarm please? lyynx mentioned that he would like to meet some other nxters at a  Nxt Meetup in the near future.  Nxt should be active on www.meetup.com.  Swarm needed.

Who is updating and maintaining the Nxt Facebook page?  Does Nxt have a Twitter account; who is updating Nxt Twitter account?  I know these are centralized social media sites and Nxt can build their own Social Media Platforms, but for now; Facebook has 500 million potential Nxters.

Other Social Media platforms need an immediate Nxt marketing ie Weibo (China Twitter) and WeChat (China Facebook)

Other countries' Social Media platforms coverage?

Let's Do Nxt Social Marketing Swarm.   Where do we start and who can organize this Social Media Swarm?  Do individual social media sharing contributions deserve small bounties from Marketing Fund? (Maybe 3-5 NXT per social media share?)

Comments, answers, solutions?

EDIT: Found the Real Nxt Facebook Page at   https://www.facebook.com/nxtcrypto
