You're better off keeping one PC for gaming and another for mining; if you plan on using the same PC for both, you're not going to enjoy that video card for very long Tongue  Plus, you have to decide if you wanna mine or if you wanna play video games, and that's always a bummer.  But anyway, the gaming PC I have right now cost about 1k, and with the accessories (monitor and stuff), cost around 1.4k.  I have no idea if there's any way you can get a good gaming PC for 700, but you'll likely have to build one if that's the case.

I'm not quite sure if know the answer, but given how you're a hero member....

If I get a desktop for gaming and whatever, and I have this laptop, if I buy an asic miner or something, could I hook it up with my laptop and it wouldn't make a difference if I used my laptop or my pc?

A pre-built computer capable of mining and gaming decently? I'd say that's not possible. You'll get PCs that are able to run most current games at medium settings but it won't be viable for mining.

I used my two years old gaming rig for mining until I realised that after subtracting the electricity cost that PC makes me less money when mining 24/7 than solving some tasks and clicking some ads for an hour or two a day gets me.

Did you have an updated video card?

Why do you want to make a gaming computer with such a low budget?

Buy*
I'd rather spend 2k on making one, I just need a simple one that can run decently.

I was looking around newegg and amazon for a gaming computer I could use not only for gaming, but also for GPU mining alt coins.

what are some good computers that you guys would highly suggest for ~700 or less?

Gratz. I'm going slow, but I'll get there, too!

It sucks because all the newbie threads aren't half as good as the other forums, but this is expected.
Yeah I keep seeing stuff I want to reply to, but can't yet. We should maybe make threads here in the newbie forum about the good stuff that come up on the fancy-schmancy "real" boards - a side discussion for us that the full members can get in on too if they want. Would help pass the time.

Or we can talk about stupid irrelevant things but.. is that against the rules? I don't know.
Whatever lol

Our goal was to create the easiest possible experience to get free bitcoins. You just enter your bitcoin address, choose the videos you want to watch, and payment gets sent!

sounds like a few bitcoins sites combined.

How much could you potentially make with any of these cards a day if all you plan on doing is mining?
I heard talk when I was in a game where a guy had "very intensive gaming hardware" and he was only making "a dollar a day"

Also, why not just get a miner?

At current difficulty I calculated it comes out to about $450 a month and I don't have any power costs. I have been mining LTC on my "Gaming PC" for the last 2 weeks about 8 hours a day sometimes more and have about 6 LTC. This setup should get me about 4-5 a day. I would like to add that I am by no means doing this to make a profit. I am doing this for fun and to help the coin community. I have been reading this stuff every day and trading what little LTC I have on BTC-E. Trading is a lot of fun too. If I make money then that is an added bonus. When or if I get board I will sell off my hardware and walk away. I think I am more likely to just reinvest into more equipment and re-purpose it if something happens to BTC or LTC. 4 months is my ROI plan though.

how do you feel about feathercoins or anything other than litecoins? also, what does ROI stand for?

Transaction fees will go up for sure, to make up for the difference...

What happens when bitcoin distributes another 11 billion coins and then there's no more blocks to get as the maximum coins have been given by the system? What happens then? Do they make more somehow, or the cost rise and it rises too high to the point where no one wants a bitcoin anymore?
