Appreciate all the tips. Basically, I got into the crypto game late December of 2017 and it’s been definitely one hell of a ride. My lack of patience is costing me $$$. I day trade and don’t hold. I’ve made a few bucks here and there but as of now I’m at a loss of $2200 out of a $10000 initial investment.

When the last crash happened, I sold everything at a $2500 loss(all ethereum)because at the speed the market was going down, I was worried I might lose most of my money if not all of it. Even Ethereums cofounder posted on Twitter yesterday that this market might crash to zero anytime. After the crash stabilized, I bought some etherum and ended up at $8500 out of the $10000 and then back down to $7800 today. There were many times where I bought ethereum or btc at a certain price only to sell later at break even or a loss. Like today, I bought btc at $10,530 and then for next few hours it stayed in the $10,400-10,500 range so that made me nervous, especially with all this talk about there is a btc correction due soon. Of course as soon as I sold at break even, it goes up $400 more within a few minutes.

The main reason is I watch the market every 2 minutes on my phone and when you start seeing it go down and up and down and up, it drives you crazy and really stresses you out. Heck I dont even sleep much now. Crypto always on my mind!. It’s not really the volatility that bothers me as much as the feeling that this market might crash to zero. I always get the feeling I must sell fast before something happens.

I mean I know how to make money. Actually, I just made $60000 in the last 2 months doing non crypto stuff but when it comes to crypto, I’m not that good!. At least as of yet :-). I just don’t like losing money!.

Re: do you day trade or prefer a long term hold?

I have been day trading since I got started in Crypto and honestly I’m not sure it’s worth it. It’s very stressful and although I’ve made Good money day trading, I’ve also lost a lot. Always checking your phone or pc is not good for your health. I started with $10000 and so far have lost $2200 overall day trading. I make $900 then lose $1000, the lll make $600 and lose $500 and so on. I’m going to keep on day trading until I recover my initial $10,000 and then I’ll add more money and switch to either holding or buying when the market crashes and selling once it recovers.

EVen professionals traders that I know get stressed out big time day trading. I think if you plan on holding, the best strategy is to buy after the market crashes and then you can get the most value for the money. Although the market seems to be recovering now, crashes happen frequently. Heck, if I fart now, it’ll probably cause a crash!.

I agree!. Bitcoin is holding back a lot of better coins. I think bitcoin needs to go so the others can flourish instead of these massive price fluctuations we are having.

Re: Binance Down

I was finally able to login into the binance website last night. Had to go to us.binance.com as binance.com wasn’t working. Sold my coins and when I clicked on the email confirmation to withdraw, it wouldn’t work. I was finally able to withdraw my coins by doing this trick I found on twitter. Basically, copy the link of the withdrawal page after you click on it and then take out the www and put us instead. I’m going to wait a few days before I put any money back into binance. 30 hours downtime in the financial world is a disaster!. They need to find a better solution to avoid this happening again.  Good luck!

Being the first doesn’t mean anything!. It might give you an advantage in the beginning but in the long run, that’s not enough!. There are better coins out there with cheaper fees and much  faster than bitcoin and I think they’ll eventually replace bitcoin. Most people who are not familiar with the technology that buy bitcoin buy it as it’s the most famous one but don’t really understand the technology. MySpace was first but when Facebook came along with a better product, it wiped MySpace off the map. I personally don’t see a good future for bitcoin. Again, this is my opinion.

The crypto market is very volatile and for those comfortable riding the waves there i a lot of profit to be made from volatility.

I don’t mind riding the waves but it’s hard riding a tsunami(government interference). That’s really my only fear. Volatility doesn’t bother me as like you said, that’s how you make good money.

Crypto market is very volatile!

Hello people, although I’ve only been trading crypto currencies for about a month now, I have learnt a lot. I have made good money on the regular stock market many times but to be honest, my regular stock market profits(although good) are boring compared to what’s possible dealing crypto currencies.

What I don’t understand is what gives these coins their price other than basic supply and demand?. I just don’t get the fundamentals of this market. For example, what makes an Ethereum worth $1000?. How do you know that’s what it should be worth and not $500 for example?. Again, other than supply and demand.

I have about $10,000 invested so far and want to invest more but I’m always scared that I will wake up in the morning and find that the US has banned or is working on banning them and that will make the crypto market crash beyond repair. Even with the latest crash, I haven’t lost money yet but the market is too volatile. Too many inexperienced traders in the game trying to get rich. Although, I don’t mind taking risks, I don’t want to throw money either. To the people who have substantial amounts invested, how do you deal with the fear that this market is so volatile like and any major bad news could lead to you losing all your money. Definitely a very risky market compared to the regular stock market. Do you see this market lasting a few years without government interference?.

 Any insight would be appreciated
