Apologies to everyone, we've had quite a bit going on.
Here is where we are currently:
Development Issues:
We are still looking into the incorporation and legal implications of doing so. We are still working on expanding our presence on the exchanges but we are not focusing on it until some of these other parts are in place. Anyone that is interested in helping, should reach out to us through any of the channels available through the website, Discord, here or elsewhere.
Admittedly, the challenges of starting a platform for a crypto currency through a public community and Discord can't be understated. Different time zones, language barriers, desire to stay anonymous, different cultures and belief systems, combined with an almost exclusive online-only presence has made it difficult to move at a pace we desire, but know that we are constantly working to overcome these challenges and believe the reward is worth it.
Here is where we are currently:
Development Issues:
- The core wallet apps are getting their splash screens and logos updated with the correct sized images to reflect the new branding and website soon to come.
- we are working on building out a web based wallet based on the bitcoin JS library and doing some proof of concept work with the library to see if it's fit for the purposes we need and secure based on any changes to it we have to add.
- the voting application needs to be built out, iterated on to get it to where we feel we have all of the functionality and data needed in order to facilitate giving away Ohm and eventually building a subscription application for mobile devices so that people can be notified of available AoK that they can participate in (think member rewards service).
- Android wallet needs to be worked on or completed, which a different developer is leading on now that one of the previous developers has left, but really requires some heavy Java expertise that we are currently looking for.
- Our core bitcoin code needs to be updated before we can add any features or changes - this requires going through the updates to the bitcoin libraries and merging in specific groups / branches of code and testing them with the daemon and wallets, this will not be trivial and we have only one developer that has the majority of expertise in the blockchain code space, so he and the other developers are going to work on that together but we will benefit greatly from having a dedicated C++ developer that is well versed in the blockchain / crypto space.
- complete the full site map for the new platform and applications (current and future state) showing how the applications will interact and move the ohmwallet.com domain to a new hosting account and start migrating new Ohm applications (voting application, web wallet, etc) to new servers one at a time after they have been completed and tested. This will allow us to keep a secondary set of servers up for making quick changes without breaking production and act as a "staging" ground for us to collaborate and work from on site changes before they are moved to the new production cloud servers, and gives us a fall-back point if something goes horribly wrong on the user-facing side.
- once completed, start utilizing ALL of the tools we have built so far to do marketing campaigns for 1 million acts of kindness to funnel users in first to the web wallet and AoK platform (likely to get the most attention) and for other serious crypto buyers, to send them to the main wallets where they can mint larger quantities of Ohm coin

It's still a concept that is coming to fruition because it is not as commonly used, but Ohm uses Staking vs Mining, which is similar but I encourage you to look into the specific differences between them because it's a bit much to go into here, but essentially, the mining processes is resource intensive and staking moves it to your local device with better efficiency and less energy use overall.
Ohm is currently earned through Acts of Kindness (AoK) that we are developing a platform for. More to come on this. The idea is that Ohm can be purchased through an exchange, but can only be earned (given) for proven acts of kindness. We are looking at trying to achieve at least 1 million acts of kindness by encouraging people to make positive impacts and to pay it forward - if you earn Ohm through an act of kindness, you can also give it to someone else for the same. This not only circulates the currency, but it also promotes the type of positive changes in the world we hope to achieve. Through this type of incentivizing, the Scrooge syndrome / myth is reduced as even people who only do something kind for a reward, through repeated acts, will start to find reward in the act itself and not the financial incentive.
We are working hard to bring together the right people in development, marketing and crypto-financial experts, to build a sustainable platform for change. With the efforts being purely volunteer, and through the community at large, we have a group of core people working consistently, and many people that want to participate, but aren't able or willing to commit to the effort needed to move certain parts of the platform forward. This has been an ongoing roadblock for quite some time, so some vetting of participants has been necessary.
The support from the community continues to grow and we really appreciate everyone that comes to this thread with interest in our project.

Here's where we're at! Apologies, again, for the sporadic nature of updates. We've got a lot going on. Here are some highlights:
Thank you for bearing with us and supporting us with your continued questions, involvement in the community, etc. It's deeply appreciated. I know it sounds like we haven't made a lot of solid progress, but the truth is that we've got a much more refined mission (and more specific, short- and long-term goals) than we've had to work with in the past.
- We are developing our own software to manage social media and host the organizational/project side of things.
- We are in talks with an RFID developer about potential applications for OHM. Don't expect anything out of this soon, but we're hoping to develop some innovative real-world applications based on this exciting technology. Since this was mentioned in a previous update, progress has been made, in that we are now actively talking with a developer instead of "planning on it."
- We've backed off the exchanges, somewhat for a number of reasons. The feeling is that we may have progressed a little too quickly, which resulted in our hitting a wall with the more high-volume exchanges. We have lots of talent, but as a volunteer organization, coming up with the bitcoin to fund premium listings is proving problematic. So, we're trying to get a little more cohesive first. With that in mind, next item:
- We're looking into incorporating as a not-for-profit organization, then moving on to the 501c (one step at a time). We've got some potential sources for pro bono legal assistance in this process. Once this is done, we'll be launching a patreon account, and start accepting donations. In the meantime, given the lengthiness of this process, we might consider operating as a general partnership, but more information is needed on the particulars of this: it's potentially high-risk.
- We're still hard at work on branding. Not much more to say about that, other than we want to look spiffy. Also, sound spiffy. Videos, music, and a more coherent visual theme are all WIPs.

When are new exchanges expected?
We're excited by our sudden escalation in value and volume on Nova, and are currently holding an internal fundraiser for Yobit. Previously, they had expressed reluctance due to our relatively low trade volume. We're going to pay the .5 for a premium listing, and are hoping that this + our recently bolstered trade volume gets us on board within the next 10-14 days.Next stop: Bittrex. We've already been in contact with them; they like the coin, but are also reluctant, due to low trade volume. Again, we're hoping our newly organized direction will help us, along with the expected further increase in trade a la Yobit. Timeframe here is fuzzy, but we're trying to maintain this forward momentum, and are looking to be on both exchanges by mid-August.

I'd like to add something that one of our devs, chenstyle, created after a virtual meeting we had a few days ago. It's based on what turned into a 2.5-hour lecture he delivered, which belongs on YouTube alongside the likes of Feynman. It was seriously awesome.

This represents two different types of mindsets that hold true for everyone - service-to-self and service-to-others. Some people are motivated by how they feel rewarded by helping others, including acts of kindness, and others are motivated for self gain, and we see this all the time within the pillars of humanity, in finance, law, medicine, technology, politics.
We have learned that money in its current form is also used as a tool for manipulation and provides a path to corruption. Ohm, SVV and LAMB all have a goal of changing the world, and changing how currency is valued.
The SVV has a focus of improving self through learning, meditation, spiritual exploration, math, music and other positive actions through an ARG. For those who dont want to take part in that aspect of self-growth but enjoy the idea of being rewarded for acts of kindness, there is LAMB. For those who want to hold a currency where the value of it is supported by making the world a better place through genuine, experiential acts that have been recorded with evidence, they can buy Ohm directly.
The purpose of all of these methods is to improve the world through actionable means and give a different meaning to the word value while simultaneously moving to a decentralized monetary system that is backed by peoples actions.

^^^ This is the best expression of what it is that we're trying to do that I've seen yet. Having it put this way actually galvanized a lot of people into higher levels of involvement; there were a lot of people who'd been looking for a way to express what it is that they were trying to do, but they'd had trouble putting it into words themselves.

We've been sadly remiss in keeping bitcointalk updated on our progress, but we've turned over a new leaf recently (it turned out to be a page in a book on business management, but more on that later). We're trying to be much more organized, open and transparent than we have been, which was always our goal. If you have any questions you'd like to ask (like "where the heck did you go," "is OHM still active?" and so on) feel free to. We'll answer them directly; people deserve a little individual reassurance, at this point.
With that in mind, here are a few things we've been working on over the last two weeks.
That's the last few weeks in a nutshell, barring the usual day-to-day running of an organization consisting of a diverse range of individuals. We have students, experienced professionals, and people working more than one full-time job alongside self-employed freelancers and people down on their luck. Everyone has something to contribute, however, and we're all united in our enthusiasm to see a platform take off that, rather than simply rewarding acts of kindness, creates something new. The acts of kindness and sustainability are what provide value to OHM in the first place. We're convinced that, if OHM's focus is on kindness and sustainability as being a source of value, not simply a way to earn it, our message will become much more powerful.
We'll be on the road to changing the world, one act at a time.

- Reorganization: We're using a suite of tools we hadn't taken advantage of previously to ensure that everything stays on track. Web-based tools, file storage, password management apps, you name it. Now, more or less, everybody knows what everybody else is doing. Access to OHM's social media properties is in the right hands, etc.
- Media rebranding: We've got a team of 6 people who are more or less digital wizards (it's more, trust me) pumping out a lot of images. We're addressing our somewhat inconsistent visual themes, and developing media kits. There are digital video recordings in the works as well, to help propagate our message; one is similar to a public service TV announcement, and the other is more like a rap video.
- Android Wallet: This was delayed by an unexpected computer meltdown. All information was saved, and the primary developer on this particular project is now focused specifically on expediting its completion (he's not currently working on the AoK blockchain until it's done; see below for more on that). Glad to see you "resettled," MC!
- iOS wallet: This is proving problematic. Historically, Apple doesn't accept altcoin wallets, and we'd have to completely rewrite the code in Swift even if they were to do so. We may have to take an alternative route to the established concept of a cryptocurrency wallet; we'll have more on this as it develops, but (without similar impediments facing us) we're currently focused on Android. We will not abandon iOS, it's just going to take us a little bit longer than we had hoped for.
- Acts of Kindness Blockchain Development: At its heart, the LAMB initiative is an experiment with providing a blockchain-style structure to a registry of acts of kindness. Currently, LAMB is managed manually, but our eventual goal is the incorporation of an automated process, confirmed by members of the community. In return for providing confirmation, those members share in the OHM bounty awarded for the act that's been recorded. The idea is similar to wikipedia; a small team of community managers, bolstered by anybody who'd like to help out, with a few standards in place to help ensure that only appropriate acts are added to the blockchain.
- RFID Technology: The iOS wallet is giving us some grief, but we've made contact with a developer for an entirely different field of software application. The goal is to create an RFID-based network for real-world OHM distribution. The possible applications of this are numerous; for example, let's say someone plants a tree. We can periodically provide a chip that's embedded in the tree with a small infusion of OHM. This could reward the planter, or they could use it to get other people in their local community involved.
- Charitable Outreach: OHM is tightly united, at present, with SVV, as we continue to help each other advance and receive more recognition.
Down the road a ways, we will return to our formerly loose association, with the sole focus of direct connection between the two being the LAMB initiative. Our goal is to reach other charitable, goodwill, or positivity-centered organizations, and work with them to achieve recognition as a recognized form of internal currency. Having OHM used as a medium for charitable giving, in widespread fashion, would be hugely beneficial to our underlying message.
