I studied your setup some time back and may go that route in the future. Also, good to know about the Rosewill/D-Link Adapter interchangeability. What I was wanting to do for my current(no pun) requirement was to buy some of the slightly more robust/powerful power adapters with barrel plugs to replace what seems to be failed OEM supplied ones. I have read the thread and have noted the recommended ones but I have not seen/read any posts detailing specific experience with my contemplated plan with my specific hubs. Perhaps that information is in here but I missed it?
I now have the parts to make molex to barrel plug cables for when I have time to solder them up to switch to an 80+ rated supply with better efficiency.
Thank you fractalbc, good info. How long did it take to get the 5/5 from CHINA?
I ordered it on 10-Sept and it was delivered on 18-Sept
Works for me-THANKS!!

Thanks for the response Nemo.

Have read of hubs being disassembled but not how best to disassemble them. I hope someone will comment on that because I believe many here could benefit from that information. I know I would.
Again thanks for the reply and for creating this extremely useful thread.
@OldDutchman777: I know for sure that Rosewill and D-Link wall adapters are interchangeable. Tried that myself. Other than that, I don't use wall adapters any more. All cables have been spliced onto Molex and gobbling power from ATX/AT PSUs. (see my earlier posts)
@lanelander: The hubs/BEs can be really choosy where you connect them. A few examples from my experiments: - D-Link connected to USB 3.0 port on one PC will have every second BE recognised. - D-Link connected to USB 2.0 port on the same PC as above ad all7 BEs recognised - A single BE connected to the USB 3.0 port on the above PC was recognised.
- D-Link connected to USB 3.0 port on another PC had all 7 BEs recognised.
- 1 BE connected to a USB 3.0 port on a laptop was not recognised - 1 BE on USB 2.0 port on the same PC was recognised.
- 10 D-Link hubs connected through 1 Rosewill muster hub work like a charm.
Using Bitminter client v 1.4.1 What I am getting now, after reinstalling JAVA and Bitminter(trying different versions) is "Cannot Probe COM X, port in use"
I was having a strange problem with a brand new PC box where the bios battery would go dead in days. I would try putting in a new battery and see if that helps. Good luck.
Was running the best I ever have on 50+ BE sticks using Bitminter client with 3.0 hubs chained through 2.0 hubs but right at the time of Silk Road and forum being down, 3 OCT, have been down hard for days. Have been trying all manner of things to troubleshoot. No Joy, stumped. Please help. First question, what do you need to efficiently diagnose this problem? Java Log? TIA

SSB is an Outstanding Re-Seller! The level of service he provides is far beyond the expectations of the most demanding buyers. I have done three purchases from him recently and look forward to many more in the near future. Simply amazing.
Thank You SSB, you deserve every bit of success you achieve in this endeavor as you are earning every bit twice or more over. My praise of the service you have provided me is long overdue.

Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or NanoFuiry NF1? A List.
My best performing hubs are the "GEARMO" 10 port 3.0. Also, have an AITECH 10 port that does not perform as well as I expected based on reviews here.
+1 on the Gearmo 10 ports. Very nice hubs. Looking to purchase a couple more, but can't seem to find them available on Amazon.com at this time
There is a online distributor/retailer in Florida that goes by three names but all the same company/location. I am fairly certain that the "GEARMO" brand is only that, not a manufacturer. They told me they expect another shipment of 10 ports in about 3 weeks. If anyone is interested perhaps we could organize one large purchase and get a better price. The GEARMO 10 is very good but also very pricy. The added expense of any hub obviously makes the cost/benefit of USB Sticks even sketchier than the cost of just the sticks. The sticks price at least is coming down as difficulty rises-not so with hubs.
I'm about 110% certain that these in fact are the same ubs as the GearMo, just different label.
I think you nailed the probability on that one. Great find, thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the price is prohibitive even for the mighty Gearmo/Orinco.

Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or NanoFuiry NF1? A List.
It seems like faulty returns are reshipping. I've had problems with my last 3. None of them will do 10 USB Erupters (or 9+ fan).
And I've now experienced 2 power supply failures on old working hubs. Durability and reliability are definitely big concerns with the older squarish style hubs.
Thanks for that info. I have one Anker 9+1 that runs very hot(even with extra cooling on the brick and sticks), will only handle 5-6 stable. When my latest order of hubs arrives I am sending this back for replacement.

Sent payment for 14-1.89 email on the way and more orders to follow. Thanks SSB. Got my wallet issue sorted out.
NOTE TO ALL: There is a Bug Fix for Bitcoin-QT wallet correcting a problem with the blockchain becoming corrupted. Download ver. 0.8.5. If you open QT and get a message that the blockchain file is corrupted it is best to not do a re-index. Shut down QT, download the new version and run. That should fix the problem without the wait(long) to re-index.
Interesting. Installed the update and currently re-indexing; fingers crossed that will be the end of this issue. I'm on a PC running WB 7. According to other info I've received I should have never started re-indexing when the problem first occurred and just installed the 0.8.5 fix. Unfortunately, I did not learn of the fix until too late. Thanks for responding and hope all goes well for you.

Re: All Bitcoind / Bitcoin-qt nodes failing to come up. Workaround inside!
Just got this message with Qt: "Corrupted Blockchain Detected do you want to rebuild". Advice please. TIA
Click "Abort" and upgrade to Bitcoin-Qt 0.8.5 before restarting the app. That sorted the problem for me.
Thanks for the reply and I should have read this thread before posting.
One more question: When this first occurred, I selected the option to begin re-indexing. Then decided I'd better research this matter before continuing and aborted the re-index at about 67 weeks remaining. I have now downloaded and installed 0.8.5. When I run the new version it is continuing the re-indexing from the abort point. Any problem, risk with allowing this to continue? Thank you, I really appreciate your help.
I didn't go this route myself, but it sounds fine. It'll just take a good long while until it completes, so the "Abort" option would have been faster. Anyhow, one ought to always keep a backup copy of the wallet.dat file somewhere else, and with that in hand there's not much reason to worry; in the worst case you can always start over.
Thanks again for the excellent info.
