What would happen if someone owned all the Bitcoins?
by
OneEyedJack
on 04/03/2014, 19:10:09 UTC
What if some time in the future, one person winds up with all the mined bitcoins?
What then? Would Alt currencies be used?

What are your thoughts?

Why not create an alt called 'Credit'?

Why not create an alt called 'Credit'

Think about it. Then you could fall in line with so many lines of fiction stories that have laid 'credits' out as the main line of currency once hard currency is done away with.

If done the line, hard currency does go away, and Credit is already out there, maybe they would accept uit as a viable alternative or replacement since it's established and already circulating...

Sorry maybe it's too much soda today

Re: [ANN][GRA] Graincoin - New PoW/PoS coin | Fast, secure | Version 1.4 Released!

I need Graincoin to grow beyond the confines of BTC valuation and the llegal stigma of questionable merchandise.
We should use this board community to find solutions, as to how to get GRA integrated into the marketplace.
Of course you will never have a commodity/currency that won't be used for illegal transactions, that's just greed and no morals.
Anyway, however, you can use GRA for legal and morals transactions. But it's the ideas and how to integrate them that we need.

One thing I would like to propose is getting GRA into a MMORPG. Using it as a transactional currency between Real World Cash and in game currency.
Or using it as a promotional currency as prizes to buy things from the MMORPG Website.

It's a good place to start.

I just don't understand how this guy thinks that Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme.
It's nothing like it at all.
Ponzi schemes require you gather investments from individuals to pay off other individuals investments and so on.
BTC doesn't do that. Hell you can get involved in it without spending a dime of real money. People truly are stupid.

**UPDATE on Wallet Issue

Ok so here is how I resolved the slow wallet issue.

Did what Bosian said. Installed 1.4 on another machine. Let it sync to the chain.

Opened the old wallet up, without internet connectivity. Plugged in internet and started transferring.

Had to do it in 24k bunches as I was getting an error on anything larger than that.

Got all but 30k. That is still stuck in there. Hopefully I can get that moved over this weekend.

I remind once again - vote for Grain. More exchanges needed.
If someone gets a mistake trying to vote - this happens, just visit the site some time after and try once more.

Just a little reminder... Wink

I don't get how Unioncoin, an unknown coin that has no following is near the top of the list?

All it takes is one person to set the tone. To say what a particular coin will be worth.
For instance if I said, I have a 1 TB drive for sale and I will take 100 GRAs for it, then that sets the worth of the coin. From that point forward, anyone else who decided to hop on board and start selling would gauge the value of the item they are selling, on that first sale.

Right now, we gauge the price of GRA on the current value of BTC. When we should be trying to set our own value on it.

Once you do that, the price will then be more stable and increase as sales continue and investment opportunities arise.

If he dumped all his coins he made at least 50 bitcoins. Not so bad.

Read the thread - I repeat again. He has given more than 60% to bounties and giveaways - it has been checked by block explorer many times.

Read from the beginning...

The premine was 1% of 50,000,000,000 coins, or 500,000,000 to start.

What amounts were sent as bounties and giveaways from the 500 million? Even if 60% was given away (which is still far too low) that leaves approximately 200 million.

  • Checking the block explorer only confirms coins were sent to another wallet address. It doesn't tell you the owner.
  • 192-200 million remaining still makes up a large (too large) percentage of total coins in circulation.

You guys were mislead from the start.

Premined or not, it is not up to the developer to get his coin accepted as a viable alternate to BTC. It's the communities job to endorse it and get it integrated. Even if he did pump and dump, it doesn't affect the GRAs I have. They are worthless if I deem them so. If I (the community) sees fit to get this coin going, and get it integrated into shops, mainstream, etc, and the price goes up, then his pump and dump scheme becomes null and void. The ones holding out while the price skyrockets, would be the smart ones.

His address is posted somewhere in this thread if someone wants to check it and see if it's empty

I think this is it? http://coinblockchain.com/grain/address/98sNiCGjGK6L4ukoxTQvW99Mxx3SxFLqUW

Well that would suck if it is his... wallet is empty..........hrmmmm.....

I've got the same issue. It's going really slooooooooow. Taking me about 30 mins to sync 50 blocks. Horrible

What files do we delete to get the wallet to resync? The Resync and rescan options work, but they do fix anything.

Anybody else having issues with the GRA wallet this morning? Mine is acting very weird. Slow, won't respond to normal clicks. Did a rescan and a reindex thinking it might have something to do with that, nothing, still slow. Anyone else? Or is it just me?
