Hi, I had NEM at snapshot date for XYM; Seem opt-in at that time failed for me. Can I still reclaim XYM  or is it too late?
Thank you.

Hello, I have bytes in the windows Obyte light wallet and looking to swap them using a DEX.  Which wallets connecting to the DEX has an ability to receive bytes? I tried OKX which contains GYBTE ERC20 tokens, but can you receive tokens there by sending them from the light wallet? Thank you,

Who are the direct competitors of Blocknet?  Is blocknet aiming to do what Polkadot/Zilliqa/Cosmos are trying to do or is it different? Thank you

How is XEL doing? I was checking the cryptoslate website: Computing sector (Ontology is on top). If XEL is not dead then it would be great if it were listed there.

A word of appreciation for TKN, after all this time they seem to be on track to delivering a product and growing into a profitable enterprise, unlike other ICOs I have been following.  Go TKN!

Sad that Cloak is down so much.  The wallet is elegant and sturdy; I started staking out a number of coins last year, every single wallet hang up and became a hassle to manage, except the Cloak wallet which I still stake to this day.  This coin ought to be more valued than it is.

Re: Maximum price that BTC can reach realistically

I think there is a moderate/high probability its a quadrillion dollars or more.  Here is the scenario: fiat starts hyperinflating sometime in the future (perhaps decades from now) but its almost a certainty that purchasing power of dollar and fiat will go down significantly in the long term; meanwhile bitcoin has survived and thrived, retaining top position or venerable position or both among cryptocurrencies.  People thus dearly buy bitcoin to safeguard their wealth as government starts printing Zimbabwe style dollar bills.

I haven't received any dividends from the delegates I voted for.   I would like to vote for some better suited delegates, but it costs me 1 shift? This doesn't seem fair.  Perhaps I can vote again for free after 1 year or so?

I take it for granted the new fee will be adaptive, so that if XBY rises 10x from here, it would adjust accordingly.

Do you guys think there's any chance XBY could get into Monero, Ethereum, or Neo levels in terms of price one day?

I'm debating getting into this versus quite a few other low market cap coins and considering XBY has already gone up so much in price, I'm a little more weary as I feel like the chance to get it at a low price has already passed.

I would appreciate any advice, thank you.

When investing in long shots, I recommend diversification. You can choose a favourite, but it's still a long shot that will go 1000% and more, you only need 1 to succeed, many will fail. It's the VC(venture capitalist) mentality

I think XBY has the potential on the par of NEO at least.    last I know, NEO currently works by having a fixed set of nodes which have to validate transactions and have to be on all the time.  These servers would be equivalent to XBY L1 nodes; XBY seems more flexible in that the nodes can be on and off and should be more decentralized  (NEO is promising to decentralize by next year).  If the design works as envisioned, in this current environment XBY could go up quite a lot l believe on the par of the above (probably not Ethereum market cap, seems to impossibly high at the moment).  In a cold environment, I think it will have to find a niche of users/developers who would use the network in order to preserve value.

I agree about the a technical white paper, and maybe even go further, something like what they are doing in ADA/Cardano, where they are undergoing peer review and have adopted an academic process to develop their technologies.

by

I think it certainly is possible it may keep increasing forever (with some major corrections along the way). This is because the comparison currency, the dollar is doomed to continue decreasing in value constantly until a final hyperinflation , then it will be replaced by an alternative like the 'amero'.

Specific Bitcoin Tax Question involving transfers
by
Optimiza
on 16/12/2017, 04:34:11 UTC
Hello,
I have been investigating whether transfering bitcoin from coinbase account to a hardware wallet is a taxable event that should be reported to the IRS, but because it is not a disposition of bitcoin no tax is due.    I get the fact that no tax is owed.  However, I am very unclear if the transfer itself should be reported to the IRS as an event.  This is important as failure to report can result in massive penalties in the future.  It also very inconvenient as all transfer in and out wallets in your control would have to be reported to the IRS.
The best I have been able to find is that nothing should be reported to this agency (by far the preferred solution), but there should be record keeping in case of an audit later on.  I am not sure though, there is no clear guideline on this.
This also raises the question that coinbase reports transfers as sales and will likely report this to the IRS. What can be done to indicate this was not a sale?

Appreciate your input if you have it.

Thank you,

First, getting the US, China, and Russia to work in unison seems like a tough feat.

And even if they did control the majority of STATIC nodes, they wouldn’t control the network.

From the FAQs...

While owning 51% of the STATIC nodes would not be technically or financially impossible, this in itself does not ensure control over the STATIC node network. With PoSign consensus, a minority of STATIC nodes or even a single offline STATIC (call it an ace in the hole) could blacklist any number of STATIC nodes that do not agree on consensus.

In this case, owners of the blacklisted STATIC nodes would have to come back into consensus before they would be allowed to return to active status.

Simply put, a 51% attack is not a possibility on the XTRABYTES network.

https://community.xtrabytes.global/faq/why-isnt-xtrabytes-vulnerable-to-a-51-attack.95/

Thank you; it seems to me for safety the static nodes should preferably be distributed throughout the globe so as not to be too geographically dependent. Also, they should  be as anonymous as possible (so as to be under the radar); Not sure is this is achievable under XBY since I believe  nodes are known and identified . Anyhow, that was just a thought, not that I want something like that to happen, as a XBY investor!

Here is a stress test:  Suppose the US, Russia, and China decide to destroy the XBY network.  Would this be easily achievable, or a difficult proposition? Seems that an government attack would start with identifying and 'neutralizing' the static nodes and rounding up the developers.
