Re: Is trade war good for crypto?
by
Opurum

I personally think that the trade war has no benefit to the market development of cryptocurrency, and it will only drag down the development of the cryptocurrency market. The trade war will not only hurt the other side, but also hurt oneself, affecting the development of the world economy, and of course the cryptocurrency market. Will be adversely affected

That is the point. I think the crypto market gets a boom whenever there is a slow in The global economy as investors look for alternative investments. In this case of US trade war with China and the EU we should expect a diminision in some sectors like manufacturing and shipping and such downstream industries. Moreover, there could be shocks on the exchangdm rate of the currency of a losing economy (country) in a trade war, and some investors, I think, would probably seek a safe haven in cryptocurrency in the absence of other viable alternatives.

Re: Dead altcoins worth reviving.

The cryptocurrency space is an ECOSYSTEM and only the fittest of the fittest survive. For whatever reason a coin dies it is an indication that it was either poorly engineered "genetically" (faulty code) or poorly built "physiologically" (design, ease of use and usefulness). Dead coins simply can't compete in the crypto space and should remain dead  and burried to free up the crypto space for worthy projects to thrive.

Re: Crypto market getting many new people. Is it good or bad for us?
by

on 08/08/2018, 05:27:55 UTC
It doesn't really look like the crypto market is gaining more new entrants, if it were so we should have noticed significant rise in the overall market cap due to new investment funds coming from the new entrants. What is happening in reality is that more people are becoming aware of crypto but without getting involved.

Re: why does coins change price constantly?

The dynamics of demand and supply holds the answer. Price falls when supply exceeds demand or vice versa. Plainly speaking, when very few are willing to hodl and many more are willing to sell off price will fall because buyers simply have more than they needed. Conversly, hodl coins generally creates relative scarcity that would cause the coin to rise in price, simply because scarcity is a measure of value, they say.

Yes you can, if you have good writing skill and a blog or content website, you write review articles or contents for startup ICOs. And if you are multi-lingual you could also do language translations for ICO contents. These may earn you over a thousand bucks, that is, if the ICO is legit.

Re: Forgotten myetherwallet password
by

Maybe you are confused what is the use of that password when you created your myetherwallet address. That password is useful when you will open your address via JSON file. It is more safe to open an address via JSON and your password than opening an address through private keys. Either of the two can still open you etherwallet address when you want to transfer your tokens to an exchange.
[/quote]

Neither of private key and json file with password is safe enough on the MEW platform. But, relatively speaking the pair of json file and password is safer because it requires 2 seperate variables. In other words a hacker who gains access to your password can do nothing without the json file, but with the private key alone the hacker can steal from your wallet.

What trade war are you referring to? I would really appreciate it if you could throw more light on this and provide links so that I can find out more about what you are saying. Anyways to me, for people to jump into crypto, i think they should first understand the usefulness of the technology and not just to come and join a "get-rich-quick" venture (which anyways is not so here).

I am making particular reference to the multi-billion dollar tarriff being imposed by Trump recently on Chinese exports to America and the counter measures taken by the Chinese by impossing multi-billion dollars import duties on US agricultural and industrial products.

It's not a matter of panic to forget about your EtherWallet password as you have your private keys and Json key. It would be possible for you to transfer and withdraw your coins with the key you have. But I will suggest you contact MyetherWallet support center and try to recover your password ASAP as it will make your account safer. You will not lose control over it. you may also transfer your most of the balance if you can't make it.

Etherwallet clearly stated  on its T&C that they do not hold your password and will not provide assistance for password recovery. I think MEW is designed that way to absorb the admin of any responsibility for any loses that may occur to MEW users. So, don't waste your time and energy contacting them.

Re: Coins kept in exchange, are they safe?

I would rather keep my coins on exchanges than keep them in my own  hot wallet. Though, exchanges are equally hot wallets but, as corporate entities they should have better security tools than any individual could ever have.

I think the ICO will follow the trend of Telegram and sell out before you say 'jack'. Also, I the coin will become one the most popular coins if it will be used for p2p payment on the fb platform and without doubts lead hundreds of millions of new entrants into the crypto space.

Re: Are we doing enough to save the planet?
by

on 03/08/2018, 23:34:50 UTC
No, we are not doing enough because mitigation policies are not rightly directed. Global prosperity  comes at a huge expense of the natural environment. Ironically, poverty remains one of the root causes of environmental degradation globally. From the dwindling Amazon forest in South America to the expanding Sahara desert in Africa and the disappearing rain forests of central and western Africa, all are traceable to over exploitation by impoverished peasant populations struggling to make a living. We will still not be doing enough until global poverty is tackle head-on and reduced to the barest minimum particularly in Latin America and Africa.

It depends on the kind of data and how much of it I am giving out. For an instance, I don't feel confortable giving out my location information to the point of verifying my residential address. It shouldn't go beyond my country and city of residence.

In times of economic recession investors find a safe haven in cryptocurrency and other securities. If the current trade war between US on one hand, China and EU on the nther hand continues to a point where the resulting collateral damage slows down the global economy we may then witness the inflow of new funds into the crypto market, I think.

Re: Why do older people like investing in Gold/Silver?
by
Opurum
on 02/08/2018, 23:37:15 UTC
I see 2 main reasons why older people prefer investing in gold and silver to other forms of investment more especially cryptocurrency investment. One is the conservative nature of the older generation who are most times overwhelmed by the fast pace of innovation and could hardly catch up with the new ideas and systems. So, they are more comfortable sticking to what they know and understand better. The other factor is what I term technology gap.  Investing in precious metals is quite conventional and straight-forward, investing in cryptocurrency is on the other hand technical  in both the skill and tools of investment. Most elderly people (especially in the developing world) can hardly comprehend the workings of the computer or the blockchain and may not have what it tbkes to invest in securities or crypto.

So glad I got the email invite to this bounty campaign because the project has great concept. Could the moderators please confirm the official website of this project. I suppose it is mobu.io, but the the bounty link on mobi.io leads to a different bitcointalk trade. Please clarify this observation. Wishing the team and the project great success.

Re: Finally I am Victim Now! Myetherwallet got Hacked
by

So sorry, but here are a few additional tips to keep your hot wallet more secure in the feature:
1. Never store your private key or json file on google drive or any other cloud storage

2. Never use your gmail account password as your wallet account.

3. Bookmark your wallet address on your prefered browser on your device. Never click on hot links to your wallet address from untrested sources such as emails and other webpages

4. Avoid bounty campaigns and airdrops that asks you to verify your wallet address via direct link. You might be phished.

5. It is safer to check your token balance via etherscan.io and not by logging into your wallet often. You might compromise your security in the process

6. Never root your android device if you use one. Doing so would render most google security features ineffective.

Nevertheless, no measure is as safe as using a hard wallet such as Trezor.

Re: I will never join AirDrop programs any more
by

on 31/07/2018, 21:28:10 UTC
There are still profitable airdrops out there, but the challenge is in findin the right one. I have learnt that airdrop campaigns that requires you to do a lot of social media tasks are not genuine most times. They probably want to exploit your time and your social space for cheap policity. But about half of the time airdrop campaigns requiring only KYC turns out to be legit.

Re: binance or folkdelta or bancor
by

on 31/07/2018, 11:21:55 UTC
These exchanges each have there uniqueness, but Forkdelta is the odd one here because it is a decentralized exchange in its own class and while binance and bancor can be seen to be classic and traditional exchanges they also have their puculiarities. Bancor basically provide easy liquidity to tokens by offering interchanges between all supported token pairs but at a fixed rate, binance provides a more regular exchange service of great trading volume and support large number of coins but with limited exchange pairs. So, for ease of use I go for binance.
