As somewhat of a newbie to the intricacies of Bitcoin, I am curious about "lost coins."

Is there a way for us to know exactly how many lost coins there are? Say coins not circulated in 5-10+ years?

If not, it seems reasonable to have those coins be able to be returned to circulation, somehow.

Also, say some something catastrophic happens, war, earthquake, tsunami, etc. Hundreds, or even thousands of BTC users wallets are lost forever. What then? The coins are lost forever as well? Will the rest of us know how many are left to circulate?

The mainstream media has been given its marching orders by its corporate overlords, and that is "Bitcoin is to be discredited by any means necessary."
The reason for this is obvious of course.

Well, I did it.
Clocked 5hrs (which was actually like 10) and I'm outa here.
I will say though I was tempted to whine over to the whitelist.
But there is a lot to gain from this forum even if you cant post.
and I do recommend hanging in there, reading up, catching up, and getting schooled.

All it will take to send bitcoin to even greater highs is the next scandal in the the fiat markets. Shouldn't take too long. Bitcoin could be in a bubble, but the top of the bubble could be in thousands of dollars value. More and more people are getting screwed by these central bank currency's, and despite the BS reporting of CNN and the likes, the masses are slowly waking up.
