I do not understand this 'hobby' deal , I mean this is a business , this is not a hobby , if you are rich enough to consider this a hobby.
Compared to other hobbies this is quite cheap, Model Train hobbists spend THOUSANDS of dollars on set that "never ROI" Hell some people spend thousands of dollars for little lead figurines for a dice game of chance.It's only around ~$25 for a single BE now including shipping, I think it's a perfectly reasonable hobby considering what others call "Hobbies"
Steamloader.com isn't the only way to get a Steam card. It's a more round about way but you can use Gyft to buy a Zeevex card and exchange that card for a Steam card code. I just checked and it was .062 BTC for 50$

I'm having problems connecting too, maybe it's some DNS server or something being wacky. I also had issues connecting to the website (I got forced into a redirect via cloudfire for a good 10 seconds) Also Bitcointalk.org was down for a while for me.
Oh boy, Guess what? 
It seems like at least it's TRYING to work but something hitches, Back to 3.6.3 and restarting every ~24 hours.

Thanks for all the effort you do Con, and Thanks for compiling these Shep. Whenever you get to 3.8.5 I'll give it a go again.
Also I ment 3.6.3 in the last post, Which has been stable sense I upgraded my firmware and reinstalled Optware fresh and will stay that way I hope.

This may be burried somewhere in this thread, but i haven't seen it. what does the"CG" in CGminer stand for?
Cpu Gpu Miner I think. I've tried to make the current git master compile against the system libusb optionally now with the --with-system-libusb option.

I could compile a debug version for you, which you'll have to run with gdb, to try can catch the error.
There's a 'low memory' flag you could try adding to cgminer.sh '--lowmem' might help?
I'll try running with that flag next time, I can't get cgminer running as a service FYI. Every time It crashes I have to kill the screen instance if it doesn't default back to a prompt and retype the whole damned line.
