Why is Bitcoin difficult to understand?
by
Ozkhan
on 21/06/2018, 04:28:33 UTC
⭐ Merited by Getmon (2)
If you look at it as Currency, it is difficult for an average person to understand it because it is different.
Bitcoin, being a different kind of a digital currency, it breaks down conventional thinking in many aspects. No central regulatory body. The concept of mining. The open-ledger (blockchain), the way miners are rewarded, how transporting value is determined by its packet size and not value, the hash rate, the concept of limited supply. The 100 Million pennies in a Bitcoin, etc.
Its difficult enough for people in the money space to thoroughly understand Bitcoin (we all say we understand it, but do we really?).
For a common person, its an overkill. Its like trying to explain the concept of TCP/IP, Networking, Routing, the Internet for someone who wants to use email.  Overkill.

Re: How did you recover from your loss in bitcoin investment?
by
Ozkhan
on 20/06/2018, 20:34:16 UTC
If by loose, you mean totally wiped out maybe because of bankruptcy, it isn’t recoverable.

This happened to me with WorldComm stocks and bonds. The company reported fraudulent earnings, got caught, and went BK. I received nothing for my stocks and maybe 10% of the bonds. I declared the losses on my taxes the following year.

If by lose, you mean the stock price dropped a lot but is still operating, you have to make a choice. Was the loss due to market conditions or the company itself? Today, April 6. 2018, many stocks were hurt when the indexes dropped by 2% or more. Good companies will recover. If you can’t stomach the loss, sell the stock and recover what you can.

Re: What is Bancor?
by

on 19/06/2018, 14:12:02 UTC
The Bancor protocol is a platform to help create smart coins and give these coins liquidity and asynchronous price discovery. It allows users to create smart coins which can be traded for other crypto coins right away. There is no need to look for a buyer or seller who has a matching need. Also, it lets new coins to be traded right when they are created. New coin creators don’t have to wait for them to be listed on an exchange and an interest in their coin to be generated. Bancor is paving the way for smart coin exchange.

The Bancor Protocol is a standard for designing digital currencies, called smart tokens, with the embedded automatic convertibility directly through smart contracts, serving as decentralized, autonomous, and reliable market makers.

Re: What do you think about Hitler?
by

A failed liberal arts student that decided to make his country a socialist one. But in terms of the Holocaust. He had a delusion that somehow all Jews had contributed to the loss of Germany in WW1 when it was just a select few (we all know who “those” Jews are). He caused an unforgivable amount of collateral damage (17 million fucking people) in his misguided quest to rid the world of those Jews and later expanded his blame-game horizons to include Poles, Slavs and Russians, Gypsies, Africans, homosexuals, disabled, and pretty much every other ethnicity/sexuality that he and millions of people, even in America and the rest of Europe including Germany, had considered to be inferior for a millennia. He was a person who capitalized on that hatred and forged it into a weapon that would bring havoc to the entire world.

Re: Was bitcoin created by the NSA? your thoughts
by

on 17/06/2018, 12:51:08 UTC
The CIA and NSA, like all of the other 15 elements of the National Intelligence Community, collect and analyze foreign intelligence related to US national interests and disseminate finished intelligence products to foreign policy decision makers in the federal government.
Bitcoin is not part of that picture.

Re: Why EOS is actually killing the market
by

on 17/06/2018, 12:43:38 UTC
I don’t think that EOS would “kill” Ethereum. Their technologies have much in common so I think if EOS does well, also Ethereum would do well. If EOS would become a big think, I think also Ethereum becomes a big thing.
at the moment I am investing on Ethereum and not on EOS so I think it reveals my personal opinion.

Re: Soft and hard fork ??
by
Ozkhan
on 29/05/2018, 17:02:41 UTC
Hey,
As a newby i want to know more about bitcoin and blockchain technology. Can you guys help me understand Soft and Hard fork of cryptocurrency.
Thank you
Soft Fork : When anyone (anycoin) release an update on the blockchain, they can either release the update in such a way that the new version of software is completely backward compatible with the old version i.e. the old version would be able to interact with the new version (the people who have the older version and not upgraded yet can interact with the people having new version). The new version has some kind of extra features that are only available in the new version, if the fork is soft fork then those new feature shouldnot prohibit this backward compatibility.

Suppose I have not upgraded and i am using the blockchain with it's older version (fork) but you have upgraded and using the latest version of blockchain then in this case, i am able to communicate with you and also with the person who havenot upgraded yet. And you will also be able to communicate both persons.

but but i will not be able to use some extra features of the blockchain which are added after the updation so if i want to use those features then i need to update to the latest blockchain.

2. Hard Fork : It is an upgrade that is not compatible with the old version of software so if the block size in the blockchain is increased, that would be a hard fork because the new version of software that works with increased block size wouldnot be able to communicate with the old version of the software and vice-versa.

Those two different versions would be running on two completely different blockchains, these blockchains would look identically to point where the hard fork happens so they would agree on everything. Actually , they become two separate coins (blockchains) so if you are using old version sofware and people who have upgraded to the new version cannot communicate or send coins from old to new version so the new version becomes most relevant and majority of people switch to the new version. This fork splits the blockchain.

Blockchain developers usually tell everyone that from in about a week or a month or sometime we're going to have a hard fork, you can already now download new version however it will function exactly as the old one until that point and from that point in the future is going to function as the new version and that is to give time to people to upgrade and then the hard fork really happens. If the people dont upgrade, they will be on the old blockchain that is completely separated from the new blockchain.

Re: Gwei and Gas
by

on 29/05/2018, 16:54:11 UTC
I tried to experiment my Metamask,  I entered to MyEtherwallet i think , and im researching for ETH and BTC , and when im on MeW I saw:
Gwei? and Gas? what does it mean? and do i need that ? thanks guys, thansk for the help  Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley
Each instruction executed on the dapp costs Gas. This Gas is an arbitrarily set number.

Programmers want to keep Gas consumption high enough so that nodes are motivated to pick up their dapps and run them, yet keep them low enough for users to be able to use the dapp.

Setting gas cost is upto the programmers. It’s a balancing act of matching supply with demand.

Setting gas price is upto the users. If you set a high gas price, the dapp will run faster.

What is altcoin?
by
Ozkhan
on 28/05/2018, 06:37:17 UTC
An altcoin is a common name for any digital Cryptocurrency similar to Bitcoin. The term is said to stand for “alternative to Bitcoin” and is used describe any Cryptocurrency that is not a Bitcoin. This approach is relatively easy to carry out because Bitcoin is a free, open-source platform.
Altcoins are the alternative Cryptocurrencies which were launched after the success of Bitcoin. Generally, they project themselves as better substitutes to Bitcoin. The success of Bitcoin as a digital currency has paved the way for many others to follow. There are varieties of altcoins in the digital marketplace.

I have no idea about this. But a reply to a beginner's post said there are opportunities for earning.  How? By investing?
most mining option online are scam  therefore  you should research these business carefully i would advice to consider investing in crypto directly  especially since mining become less and less profitable over time due to ETH and others planing to switch to proof of stake rather than proof of work

Re: What Is A Blockchain
by

on 27/05/2018, 07:40:46 UTC
Hey guyz
I am complete noob in crypto. I need to know what is a blockchain? How to use it and what if it goes offline? What affects it will occur on bitcoin.

I have tried understanding it but it looks very complex There may be a simpler way to understand it guys

Thanks for the help
Blockchain is a distributed database system that acts as an “open ledger” to store and manage transactions. Each record in the database is called a block and contains details such as the transaction timestamp as well as a link to the previous block. This makes it impossible for anyone to alter information about the records retrospectively. Also, due to the fact that the same transaction is recorded over multiple, distributed database systems, the technology is secure by design.

Re: How does a mining pool work?
by
Ozkhan
on 27/05/2018, 07:34:07 UTC
Hello,

I have a 7mh/s gpu. I want to mine some coins. My question is how does this work. If a coin is worth 1$ and i can mine a max of 100 coins with my gpu. Does that mean that i will get 100$ a day?
Thank you
The mining pool coordinates the workers. Think of it like a lottery. If you and your friends all buy tickets in the lottery the group has a better chance of winning. To be fair in the lottery example everyone should be rewarded proportional to the amount of money spent on tickets. So if there are 20 tickets for the pool one person purchased 10 and two people purchased 5 each - if one of the 20 tickets win the person who purchased 10 gets 50% and the other two get 25% each.

What a mining pool does is function as a coordinator for all the pool participants doing:

    Taking the pool members hashes
    Looking for block rewards
Recording how much work all the participants are doing
Assigning block rewards proportionally to participants

Miners mine differently by running pool software instead of the bitcoin client and just performing hashes for the pool

Re: Muslims can trade with bitcoin according Islam.
by
Ozkhan
on 26/05/2018, 09:06:16 UTC
i am not shore abut this qustion .because its not easy . but i read on book  writer Albert Flack  was Professor of Islamic finance and I trade currencies and cryptocurrencies.

1   As about Bitcoin ,with the lenght of the process of the settlement, it is no more seen as a payment tool, yet, but it is seen as a warehouse of value ( an asset) , if you want like a Diamond. It is rare and people do not trade diamonds for buying a coffee. So it is a digital asset. It is not seen as a currency but it is seen like a digital gold. No problem. Gold Silver is one of the 7 islamic finance currencies, you buy it cash , you sell it cash. Bitcoin are traded cash .

 (a)   For the other currencies you may consider they are still payment tools because they have cheaper value and some like Ripple etc are indeed in the creation of a system of payment. Once again there are cash payments.

  (b) what is HARAM not authorized, is to buy more then what you can pay cash , or to sell short what you do not have. Because it enters in the notion of speculation and hazard, you may loose more then your money , or you may enter in a systemic risk. If you loose your money ok you lost it, but if you loose and can not settle debts then your problem become the problem of your lender who may also not settle his debts in a cascade of systemic problem, harming the community and the system.

(2)What is also Halal is the notion of Property under construction : I explain. If you know that end of the month you will receive your rents, your retirement, your reimbursements, or some money lets say inheritage. you can buy in advance borrowing money now what will arrive to you later on. Let’s now exagerate and say that you have a flat and that you now you will receive the next 12 months of rent or lets say you have a field of petrole, producing 100 barrils a day, 36500 barrils a year. You can sell the petrole 36500 barrils ( why not 10 years also), and OR borrow money , for this money and invest in cryptocurrencies because you know that these future incomes or flows will arrive to you. So you can buy in advance ( with credit and not cash) the future flows that you know will arrive to you

Where has this Ether come from?
by
Ozkhan
on 20/05/2018, 08:10:47 UTC
Ether is the currency of the Ethereum platform. Anyone who wants to use Ethereum platform will have to use Ether. Ether can be traded around the web and mined exactly in the same way as Bitcoin is done.

Ether’s supply and rate of issuance has been decided by the statistics gathered from the currencies 2014 presale.

There is this misconception that Ether is a currency, but its founders say that Ether is not a currency as much as it is “crypto-fuel”, which means that it’s a token that has one main use – to pay for the Ethereum platform. This means that you probably won’t be able to buy stuff with Ether online. However you can still trade it and invest in it in hopes its price goes up.

Well obviously no one knows... or very few people know (I still think that there are a couple original bitcoiners on this forum who are 99% sure that they know who Satoshi is).

Whats your favourite theory?

Mine is that it was John Nash   Roll Eyes

Please provide some proof for your theories. Would love to look into them!
While there have been two misfires someone with the same name that newsweek mis identifires  as the inventor of bitcoin .craig wright who claim he used the name as a pseudonym,A third incarnation has now appeared
