Me too. Can't withdraw. Does anyone know if the automatic payment threshold is working?

Not with me, my 1 BTC-threshold is now exceeded about 0.6 BTC.

Can't withdraw too at this moment. Page shows that payment will be executed but then balance remains the same... and no coins on the way to wallet. Huh

I see too much blind optimism. Everyone thinks bitcoins will rise to the moon again.

Remember some points.

1) Bitcoins are as useless now as they ever were

2) Bitcoins are not a commodity, they are not consumed. Everyone who bought on the way up, needs to eventually sell them.

3) The market is very tiny, and is growing slowly at best.

4) 5,000-7000 new bitcoins come into existence every single day.

5) Most people sit with bitcoins on a rally, but eventually it will stall and they will start selling. This will push the price back down.

6) Obvious signs of price manipulation for the pushes. Is it someone using the push, rinse and repeat strategy playing on many of blind optimist suckers?

7) Now that the price has been potentially manipulated higher, will the manipulators keep shelling out their cash to try and hold the price high?

Cool Anybody who wants bit coins already owns a substantial number of these useless coins. Will they keep buying more to help maintain a high price? Who are the new suckers coming into the market now and buying them?

9) Market depth supporting the now $5.00 price is looking very weak on mt. gox.

10) Last but not least, who the hell is stupid enough to pay $5.00 now for a bitcoin?

My first transaction was in June last year. End of july 2011 I had est. 2.800 confirmations on this first transaction.

Now I have exst. 30.000 confirmations on this transaction.

So: a lot more people and a lot more BTC-clients are envolved now. The networks hashrate remains even in the descent more or less stable between 6.x and 9.x TH/s - compared to june/july 2011. This network capacity consumes MWatts of electrical power and we all people are paying for it, continued investments as well.

But one of the main arguments is that there is a real exchange rate above the 1:1 ratio USD/BTC. Despite huge selloffs in recent months we had still 1  BTC >/= 2 USD.

Lets assume that is the bottom line. Then this is the usage value for BTC: arround 2 $/BTC. The price for the possibility of nearly instant, trusted, verified and individually based transactions.

Speculation then creates on top value which is then creating the higher and more volatile market value. Sure, there is a lot of speculation but this is for good. It brings money and believe into the system. I just bought these days a new HD 6990, adding up my capacity to 2.5 GH/s.

Then look at the failure of the US supercommittee and look at the souvereign dept crisis in Europe. There might be events in the nearer future of the next two years that could be bring bitcoins into the position of a additional transaction alternative for ordinary people if their trust to normal banks is finally eroded or simple there are no trustworthy banks anymore or we can have a lot of inflation. This will take the usage value upwards significantly and the market value even more.

Start to think yourself about these mechanisms. Start reading ft.com.

It might be naive to be too optimistic. But who on earth had foreseen the rally of May/June/July last year? So its not justified to be too pessimistic as well. We have to decouple our expectations for a fast profit from the BTC system evolution.

And this is real: the system is there, it is evolving and developing. This will take time and we don't know how much. But if there where no market for BTC, it has been vanished last year.

You guys should come and try out mineco! https://mineco.in

Im now with 5 workers & 1,200.xx MHs @ deepbit and Im feeling cool about it and about deepbit & Tycho! Appreciate what you've got!

+ With how many workers I can come in on mineco?

+ Is there a proportional mode like deepbit have one (PPS - mode seems to me a much more slowly way to get BTC while you have some hashing power arround 0.5 to 1.0 GHs)?

+ Is there a performance measuring based on solved shares?

Huh

Hello everyone @ deepbit,

actually can not pay out BTC's on deepbit.

Payment routine is seemlingly working at first but after this the balance is the same and no BTC were transferrred.

Changed my password, logged out, logged in again - the same result.

Tried to login from another location - no payment.

Meanwhile mining goes on...

Last succesful payout was midnight.

Anyone know something about payment restrictions on deepbit?

regards from germany

I have a friend that owns a fairly small scale webshop dealing in hardware.  It's based in sweden but ship both from here and poland. We were talking half seriously about setting up a separate webshop selling hardware for bitcoins. It doesn't seem like a entierly bad idea. A webshop is a pretty obvious place to start accepting bitcoins and if there's one thing bitcoin enthusiasts might be interested in it'd be hardware.

What we couldn't figure out though was what the law on taxes would be. This would be located in sweden but I assume this is a question that might come up no matter where you're located. Are we supposed to pay sales tax on the bitcoin we charge for the products? If so what's the swedish tax office bitcoin address?  Jokes aside does anyone have any info to enlighten me here?

If we do decide to go ahead with this idea it could be up and running fairly soon since the products are already in stock for his other webshop.

Hallo,

I'am from Germany and my tax advisor told me, that I have to pay taxes only when I cash back the BTC's back to a classical currency. But if this is going via MtGox or an other currency exchange this is not regarding income taxes but related to capital income tax which is i.e., if you have a relevant tax rate, less than income tax ( est. 25% in DE). Good deal so far here in Germany.

Hi, Im from central germany, act. with deepbit for a few days @ est. 750 MHs (3xHD5830, win7x64 KIV's GUI/poclbm), planning to come up with another 1.5 - 2.0 GHs next days :-) if they can deliver some 6990's.

***

Open question: Does anyone know, how many 5830 or 6990 cards can take a ROG formula IV board with Win7x64?

***

Deepbit again & again under attack?? & 3 THs add. power since two days ago within the network. For a short time this start with add. 6 THs. This is MWatts of electricity & cooling power. How can pay this for a longer time on MtGox rates going down?

***

MtGox is @ consolidation after an unawaited rally at the beginning of June. Keep cool, usd 50/BTC comes within the next months. This last rally was only the prelude. Now the market have enough BTC to strenghten BTC use itself. After this will come the next rally.

But, additionally, if or when Greek is going down, defaulted & than the Euro is going down a little bit, this is BTC-push power again, the lost confidence into classical currency.

If a big rating agency, as announced earlier, will downgrading the U.S. in july (if the administration can not handle the congress properly regarding the allowed national dept), this is the next step. So take your time, think about the powerfull factors at work, wait until good selling rates. :-)

***

And a little bit later, if I made it some day out of this strange newbie section, I will render you the ultimate BTC-deflation scenario if we'll see sometimes the crash of a major currency. Everyone he waits until this time with a few BTC in his wallet, will be a happy man!
