Hi fellow oxycoin investors and followers. I have invested quite some money in Oxycoin and really want to support this coin, but I have got some concers. I hope asking them here will get me some better knowledge and trust in Oxycoin. One of the things that bothers me is that the coin has a very ambitious roadmap. Releasing an app and SDK, next to some new website (I am not sure), but I heard about this somewhere.
Also they claim all these goals will happen in 2018. Then thinking about other platforms that have large teams, that even can't deliver this in a year. How does Oxycoin know that they will deliver this products? Also i have a question about the team. Is there only one developer? And is he part of other coins like Rise and Lisk? Then the other questions I  have is about their marketing. Looking at Oxycoin website, they have a marketing team, but when I visit subreddit, or other social platforms, I see close to no activity. Is oxycoin their full time project? facebook shows some followers for the page, but barely any interaction. Can someone help me with some of my questions? thank you so much.

It is an ambitious plan that is true.

Marketing: There are 2 guys working solely on marketing now. There hasn't been any significant marketing push yet. They are working on multiple projects that will increase public exposure to Oxycoin. They've kept a pretty tight lid on details of the plan.

Social media: The most active groups right now are Telegram and Slack. Unfortunately the limitations of Slack are an issue now. You can freely join telegram, but will need to get an invite to Slack. You can ask for an invite to Slack here:

https://oxycoin.io/contact.php

Devs: DPoS is a very small community and there is overlap among devs and in the code they write. You will see the same names in many coins. The general response is that what is good for DPoS is good for Oxy. None are actively working on Lisk as far as I know. vekesasia and jan do contribute to Rise as well.

Hi, from my couting to get 10% approval you need to have around 1 300 000 coins. (To have, or power of votes).
USD260k, cheers

Damn, thats a lot....
Any other way to get voted?

The number of votes needed is almost 13M not 1.3M. The lower limit to enter the top 201 is currently at ~12% approval and that has been slowly rising for months. Supply is ~106M now.
Here's a simplified list of vote counts for delegates:
http://oxycoin.delegates.tech/

Here is the explorer page for delegate monitor with % approval listed:
https://explorer.oxycoin.io/delegateMonitor

You can earn votes by contributions to the community, furthering the Oxy project, or otherwise convincing enough voters that your delegate is worth supporting but it's a tough level to reach if your delegate doesn't share and you do not have a very large wallet to supplement outside votes.
Most delegates offer to share a large % of their forging with their voters in exchange for votes.

If you do want to try to forge there are guides on Medium on doing the node set up. This is the node set up step. There an initial server step to do prior to this.

See the Tech Talk by Terrence Wang about consensus among IOST nodes. He discusses how IOST will deploy the PoB consensus model and how it works.

forging? is this coin Proof of Stake? If so what are the block rewards and how many coins do you need to stake daily?

OXY is Delegated Proof of Stake. DPoS.

You vote for 51 delegates, your wallet size (weight) is your vote. The top 201 voted delegates forge OXY at about 144 OXY per day and most share a % of that with their voters. Shared percentages vary up to 100% when delegates have promos. Your portion of that depends the total OXY in your wallet as a % of total votes for that delegate and the % the delegate shares.

Visit the OXY Reddit for a voting guide, links to calculators to help estimate rewards, and other info.

Is there any Windows 10 64Bits wallet?
We have released a nano wallet. You can download here https://github.com/Oxycoin/oxy-nano/releases

It doesn't work on windows10... it says it is no compatible  Huh

I would have thought most people would be using Win10 by now, any update from the team why this isn't working?

I got it to install on Win 10 Pro, have heard many were unable. Not sure why it worked for me. It doesn't offer anything the web wallet doesn't have.
I DLed it, unzipped onto desktop, accidentally madea shortcut to it becasue my mouse button sticks and it installed from that shortcut. Nothing special that I did.

Genuine question - how does Oxy differ to Ripple, in terms of backend/transactional platform?  Obviously Ripple is years ahead in terms of development and real world testing, just wondering if Oxy is effectively the same thing, just newer or if it has any advantages?

As I understand it XRP is primarily for interbank or business to bank transfers, to reduce fees, free up money stuck in transactions, and speed up the system.

Oxy is designed specifically for consumers, using your bank as an gateway for fiat to crypto purchases in app. The idea being to make the entry into crypto easier. The app will have wallets for multiple coins and will be able to send and receive those coins via simple usernames and/or acct #s. For direct p2p transactions it has QR codes to scan.

They aren't really in competition in any meaningful way.

is this coin listed on any exchanges, where can I buy it?

Bit-Z and livecoin right now, depending on pair you need.

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/oxycoin/#markets

Only two exchanges? I do not know much about these exchanges, are they reliable? I can see the trading volume is not so much, why?

I wasn't familiar with either of them but I've used both for Oxy and not had problems.

Oxy is early in its dev cycle, volume will pick up when the app is released and marketing ramps up. They are also trying to get on other exchanges, but as you know exchanges are overwhelmed by new customers and coins and taking their time.

I don't even understand what would happen if a split were to occur. Hoping to learn more this weekend. THere's so many opinions on the future that a noob like me gets lost in the BS

I'm one of the noobs and I too would love to hear a knowledgeable exchange speak up. I'm not in for more than I can lose but some people have a lot in play and would probably like some news.
I got in early enough for the ride up but the downturn caught me while on vacation out of touch with the world. For my part I tried to stop the bleeding by pulling mostly out of BTC and back to USD, ETH, and LTC, but all e-currencies have fallen so there's no safe haven there at this point.
