I don't think it's like that, since banks (although used to store money, offer different terms than bitcoin, mainly in the aspect of providing interest -stable or not- on invested amounts, while bitcoins stored offer a rise of value sometimes, but it's not like interest given almost stably mainly as a result of trading and investing the deposited money through bank professionals.

Unlikely, Even if other Cryptocurrencies are evolving quickly, The world still sees bitcoin as the "Cryptocurrency", and the biggest proof of that is the rate of reports regarding bitcoin compared to other cryptocurrencies. The recognition for bitcoin would likely last for several years before another currency even get recognized by the masses, Let alone completely replace bitcoin.

Re: Does Bitcoin really need an ATM?

it is never a bad thing to have more exchange methods, I've been using Bitstamp (Europe based) and everything is working fine with them BUT I would not mind buying from an ATM if one is located close to me because it is instant unlike bank deposits taking a little while, the fees reported in this forum (%5) are not excessive compared to SEPA + Exchange fees.
