Re: ETH @ 158 USD

Ethereum has been going down sharply over the past few days and i believe it will be in double digit in a few days time. There has been some unusual activities in the market for some time, who knows some big players may be manipulating it.

The price is just $102 at present. I am not sure it is caused by some big players. But the general sentiment is not so positive.

Assumptions of some experts that before the end of this year bitcoin will cost 20000-25000 $ is quite real, also the price of ethereum is expected above 2000 $. If the price will be  higher, then I will be just happy!

I also think the Bitcoin Cash will be between $10k to 20k.

Re: [2017-11-24] President of Belarus Expected to Sign Decree to Legalize Cryptocurr
by

Belarus is entirely in the orbit of Russia's interests. It is part of a single economic Union with Russia. It means that Lukashenko won't be able to introduce the laws governing the circulation of cryptocurrency in the country. Putin is in no hurry to legalize cryptocurrencies in Russia and why it is safe to say that he will put pressure on Lukashenko with the aim to adhere to a unified legislation in this sphere.

But isn't it they are no longer under control of Russia? They are totally independent of each other and it Russia says no to bitcoin or crypto's, it doesn't mean that other states should follow as well. Putin will not legalize crypto in my opinion. But to put pressure on Lukashenko? I don't know how far on Lukashenko will give in such request.

He has his own roadmap for Belarus, and I think he made his decisions already to legalized and regulate it in their country. If he gives in to Putin request then it doesn't look good for his image as President of his country. For now lets consider this another win for the crypto market if he signs this into a law.

I hope people in that country will start using Bitcoin or other coins soon.

Hi there!

Is a rig made of 6xrx470 mining ETH still profitable?

i would like to know real opinions from members that own the same GPUS.

Thanks guys!

If your electricity price is less than 0.2$ per kW, it is still marginally profitable.

Bitcoin is outperforming major assets but hedge funds are still staying away from the cryptocurrency

  • Bitcoin's price has rallied as much as 180 percent this year but hedge funds are still nervous about investing.
  • One hedge fund veteran told CNBC that the industry doesn't "know enough about it".
  • But there has been rising interest from investors in other bitcoin products on the market.

I think it is good for the hedge funds not to invest. It give us more time to buy cheap bitcoin.

Re: What is your best investment strategy?

I don't really have a strategy that I use. I just buy some Bitcoins every now and then when the price has gone down to hold for the long term. That's all I do at the moment. I am not even trading. It's purely holding what I do. I am so happy with my Bitcoin investment that I never look into any other investment. Bitcoin is more than enough for me as I believe in its full future potential.

That is very good to hear. I am glad to see a proud Bitcoin investor in this community. As well as you, I do believe completely in its future potential. By then, it would be much more valuable than what it is right now.  Smiley
Also, I also do not have what investment strategy, I was optimistic about bitcoin, has been good, of course, not because of its price now, but it is not only the value of the future price growth, may replace the traditional currency.

I know somebody bought the bitcoin in 2012, and he holds since then. He has made very good profits.

I think i read in this thread some place how it is better to use a 220 line over a 110 line that's the truth i just tested that to find out on my 110 line if the meter is right It uses 4.8 amp or 562 watts at the wall with 4 amd cards and CM8 i plugged it into a 220 line it dropped off a AMP or so ,right now i have no real way of proving it other then what the PDU shows in amps used on the 220 line from what the 110 line meter shows. I'm using a Vga 1300 gold and looking at using SIdehacks break outboards with  1500 watt pat server psu's on a 220 line. there cheaper.

Using Server PSU's Might be better the way ?.

yes 220v line is better than 110v for mining

here is a simple formula

power = current x volts

1000watts = 4.5454 amps x 220 volts

1000watts = 9.0909 amps x 110 volts

higher voltage is the secret ingredient to transfer electricity to hundreds of miles from the power plant by using hundreds of thousand volts, higher voltage is higher efficiency by having more watts for the wire.

regarding using server psu, i think it is better to use server psu because it is designed to work 24/7, typically they are rated in "platinum" and second hand server psu tends to be a lot cheaper. the only problem i see with second hand server psu's is if you get a unit that has been used for a very long period of time, no matter how great their build, they aren't designed to last forever plus they don't have warranty from the manufacturer anymore. (some server PSU's are very noisy btw )

using typical PC PSU has an advantage too because typically they are bought brand new, and good PSU's can have 5 year, 7 year and i think there are some with 10 year warranty..the only disadvantage is the price.

Another problem with the server PSU is that you need some special adaptor to use it. They do not have low voltage output.

My strategy is I do multiple investment to lessen the risk of my money, I do not focus in one investment that will gives big risk, and i always have backup in my local bitcoin wallet in case of the bitcoin price will increase more i get earning for my bitcoin in my wallet.
Good for you for diversifying your investment, that minimize the risk and you can last in the investment world. Smart investors do that and I believe you are on your way to success, whatever investment you choose as long as you make a study of it you will be fine.

But for the bitcoin, the best strategy is just buy and hold. If you want the bitcoin price to rise, you should also use some.

Re: RX480 (Reference) 31+Mh, Custom Rom
by

on 23/10/2016, 09:44:13 UTC
Hi everyone, I am mining eth solo with claymore 7.1 and I have OC my RX480 8 gb today.

Everything about the software looks fine, but I was wondering:

1) can I exit the test mode on win10 without causing any crash and how? (which command?)

2) what are the best settings in wattman to make sure that the cards have the lowest consumption possible and that they run as much stable as possible around the 31mh/s? Core, memory, fan, and temp? (at the moment they are varying between <24 and >30, which seems quite a lot)

this is the procedure I have followed to enable the test mode:

i) Press Windows Key + X to open Power User Menu. Select Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
ii) Once the Command Prompt open, enter bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS and press Enter. Then enter bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON and press Enter.
iii) Close Command Prompt and restart your PC.

and this is the mod. rom: https://15254b2dcaab7f5478ab-24461f391e20b7336331d5789078af53.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/ethereum.vanillaforums.com/editor/9p/vv6t6jnquwj1.zip

Thank you for you help
Test mode? No man, just use new drivers 16.9.1 to 16.10.2 - all are good and no need for test mode. Where were you past months?

Lol, I am relatively new to the all mining thing, so you mean, once I flashed the cards, I can just install one of the new drivers and exit the test mode now?
Or once I have complete flashing them (which I have) can I just exit the test mode anyway, using bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF, or can something wrong happen if I exit the test mode now that I have flashed the cards?

I am currently using crimson 16.7.3 minimal package because they appeared to be very stable.

What do you suggest? Thanks very much man

For the new drivers, there will be no signature verification. So you do not need to use the test mode anymore.

Re: People hate Bitcoins?

There are a number of people who do not like bitcoin, but the reason is because they do not understand what bitcoin is and what it can do for them.  Some think it is for black market scams and such, but this is not the case.  They need to learn and be educated!
They cannot like a thing that they do not understand and those people has no valid reason of not liking bitcoin, I think we should just have to understand them because that is really the reality that we cannot please everyone here.

Those  kind of people  do exist on this world  which they  usually refuse  directly to a thing without even  knowing  it. If they heared about scam things  about bitcoin they would directly turned back from it. You are  right  we cannot please  everyone  about  on  engaging on bitcoin.

As time goes on, there will be more and more good business realted to the bitcoin. The scam ratio will reduce.

Those who do not understand and not interested on bitcoins are the one who do not like it.  I do not think that people would hate it they just do not understand it.
its true for those who cant really understand bitcoin and not interested in bitcoin will be hating this coin for sure but if theres an interest or they can understand how to use it then they lovin it like  us we fully understand how bitcoin works.

I agree those people hates bitcoins because they really don't know how to use bitcoins properly and they are not getting benefits into it. But I don't agree with the people who doesn't have interest with bitcoins, since they are not interested at all and why they are going to hate bitcoins? For what reason do they need to do that.

Some people trade the bitcoin. When they want to buy more cheaply, they will talk down the bitcoin.

Of course I like bitcoin because bitcoin is money and profit...so there is no reason to hate bitcoin Grin Grin
but not everyone can benefit from bitcoin. for some people maybe bitcoin could make them lose their money.
it can result in a person who can change the assumptions about bitcoin.

True,  people would do hate  bitcoin if they lossed  their money especially on  its moving price when they try to invest and saving  up but  if you are a wise person you would surely wit  that the price would be profitable for you. If someone losses money then its possible  on scam sites for sure, but they dont have the right  to hate bitcoin because its their own fault.

You cannot hate bitcoins only because you loose money with it, as it was your decision that made you loose your money, if you would be patient then results would be different.
I agree with your words, and add one more that if you already have such a negative impression of a bitcoin, then why bother to engage or deal with cryptocurrency. If you have the patience and the results will be.

I have some patience. I bough some bitcoin in 2013, I still keep most of the coins and have made some profits.

Re: ETH/ETC Madness: Good time to refill Alt bags?
by
Pasttimeuftor
on 10/08/2016, 07:19:20 UTC

I'm still undecided whether to buy ETC or just stay with ETH  Grin Bittrex says our DAOs will be converted to ETH if we don't withdraw.
Will ETC goes up and surpass the price of ETH later?

I kinda doubt it. I don't see ETC going anywhere. There is not much of a vision, apart from "not like THAT!" and most of the guys that have been working on ETH seem to keep working on ETH, not ETC (…right? to be honest, I didn't research that statement. Would be glad to have someone chime in on that matter).

The ETC guys are right in some regards, including, that ETH is not truly decentralized. But in the end, nothing really is. Even before the DAO hack, The DAO had a big flaw: you can't make a decision that needs experts without involving these experts. As soon as you listen to what they say, your vote may be technically your own, but it is based on the expertise of others, thus making it less autonomous.

The same is true for the Hardfork decision. It was made by experts, who influenced the outcome.

I don't think that's bad. When I'm sick, I go to the doctor, not let a bunch of random people suggest a treatment.

As long as the people working on ETH keep working on ETH and not ETC, I don't see ETC overtaking anything.

But crypto is the place for miracles (or whatever you wanna call it), so pretty much everything can happen.

If there are few developers working 100% on the ETC, not many people will use ETC as the application platform.

I would buy ETC but I can't honestly be bothered to do it. My BTC is too precious to be spent in some altcoin gamble. ETC is cheaper and has higher chances to pump. ETH is the one fork that is suffering the most with desperate holders going nuts about it.

You can trade the ETC and ETF. But make sure you sell the ETC before the DAO hacker or others dump their coins.

Re: July 20, 2016, the block halving date, what will the price be?
by
Pasttimeuftor
on 12/07/2016, 19:11:51 UTC
Well, the halving has gone by without any major movements, which is definitely surprising to me, since I was really anticipating for a huge price change on the markets.

Seems like I have made a mistake though, but it is good to see BTC at a stable level.

everything from peak to dump happened last month. i was expecting the price to plummet directly after the halving, but it didn't. but then again, as you also mentioned, it's not a bad thing to have somewhat of a stable price. we'll probably stay at $630-$660 for some weeks before seeing the price start moving into a certain direction again. patience is what we need.

The dump happened before the halving, so it is good. The price drop is much smaller than I expected.

Why do you all forget about the HYPE part. HYPE alone is gonna push this beyond 1000. Quote me for truth later noobs. You bears annoy the fuck out of me.
in my opinion there wont be that big of a hype to be honest, even though i dont say that the price will not be pushed that much, i think there wont be people hyping too much about it

i think the price will be something like 800-900 dollars during the halving because certainly more people will be buying than selling and the price will grow a little bit

I was very optismistic a few weeks ago. But not any more. I think the price could be between $700 to $800.

the day of block halving in mid July bitcoin price is going to be around $600+-$20 because price has already been rising and it is slow rise and by the time of halving because of the hype this rise may become a little faster but still will be a rise so with current price the target is above 600

I am more optimistic about the price. The bitcoin price could $700 +- 50  during the halving time or just after.

If the price rise to a higher amount there will be a small chance to do this with 100 bitcoins but from right now its not possible.
I also consider this as not possible but you of course never know what will happen with the bitcoin right ?

If the price doubles every year, it will be $8000 each, so 100 bitcoin is just worth around $800,000.

Actually, if you have 100 bitcoins you will be hundred-bitcoinnaire by 2020. Being a dollar millionaire won't make any sense because the dollar will be long gone by then.

2020 is just 4 years away. The US dollar will still be the world reserve currency. It is still the strongest currency.

I dont even have any idea what LISK is. Says enough that the shit coins are only known to those looking to gamble / pump-dump coins that relate to them.

Most of new coin are like that so sometimes this kind of gable may be good and sometimes is bad
Anyway ist for you/me to decide that

LISK has the similar concept to Etheruem. But it is programed with another language. So it might take off.

It is difficult to say. So far in the digital currency world, there is no clone having succeeding in getting to the top.
