I'm having trouble connecting. Anybody else experiencing this?
Yes, it was working. It just suddenly stopped when I was in chat.  Thought it was just me.

Edit: Dice bot doesn't connect either.  Browser says the problem is a redirect loop.

Hello miners!

Now new server now available US NORTH and also EUROPE.

Good mining!

Thanks for the failovers!  Glad I found your pool. I've been looking for a small pool that pays as much as the larger pools in the long term.  So far I have had better earnings on geteth.io than any others that I've used.

That's really weird, I am baffled.
Thank you for trying this but my internet is connected as I'm able to use nanopool without any issues.
There was another guy who claimed to have the same issue so maybe I am missing something.
Anyway, I doubt I can figure this one out so hopefully someone who's had this problem before could shed some light.
Thanks again for your help.

It's most likely just the port number 4444.  My ISP has blocked that port number because the W32.Blaster.Worm from years ago. Check with your ISP.

I have the same problem as Velmerk when mining eth or eth forks only.  The miner does not respond until a key is entered and then it will restart.

Thanks for the info, very helpful. So in your opinion, I should use ethminer doing solo on my Geth? Even though CMD give me a higher hash rate? With either I get 103mh on 1 rig, with CMD I get 120mh. With all my hw, using Ethminer its 460mh, with CMD its 550Mh. Considerable difference.

Thanks,

Like all mining I think it is going to be luck that rules on this one. You could possibly have found an eth block in that 14.4 minutes a day that CMD is mining the dev fee. Mining Shift with only 50-60mh I have found that the 36 seconds doesn't really affect me. I get more from CMD on average than I do etherminer.  If I had the hash-rate to mine Ethereum solo I might feel differently.

So I just tested using just Ethminer pointed to my Geth box in solo, looks like avg is 75Mh. This rig has 4 GPU's that usually run 102mh on a pool using ethminer and 120mh on a pool using CDM.

I get the luck factor in solo mining, but loosing that much hash compared to CDM has got to make a difference. Based on calculators I should be getting a block per day with my 550mh using CDM. But with this Ethminer avg below, total hash is only 342Mh.

Thoughts?

I would go with CMD.  Looking at the numbers I would have to believe that the significantly higher hash rate and processing more work would outweigh the off chance that you would have found a block in the time CMD is mining the dev fee. In the long run you might miss a block or two but should come out ahead due to the 60%+ increase in hashing power.

"dwarfpool (and Stratum for Decred):
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool eth-eu.dwarfpool.com:8008 -ewal 0xD69af2A796A737A103F12d2f0BCC563a13900E6F/YourWorkerName -epsw x -dpool stratum+tcp://dcr.suprnova.cc:2252 -dwal Redhex.my -dpsw x"

I dont want to sound like an idiot but in the part where it says "-dwal"? Do i need to add my decred payment address too or leave it blank? I see that the miner is accepting shares from decred but im not sure if i have to put my address or not (Is blank in the original post)

Sorry if is a dumb question first time trying this. Thanks for the help.

After -dwal replace "Redhex.my" with your suprnova User.worker name and replace the "x" after -dpsw with your password.

That said, I do have some ideas on how to commercilalize Decred blockchain but it would need to become permissioned one, it would have to let go the currency altogether and do some heavy very specialized development for our industry needs. I'm not even going to ask Decred developers if they are interested cause obviously the answer is going to be no.

I have to agree with myagui on this one. It wouldn't be difficult to hire your own blockchain specialist.  The real question I have would be why?

From your statements it sounds like you want a private blockchain in addition to a permissioned one. What would a blockchain do for your industry that a database doesn't? Unless it is going to interact with another public chain such as bitcoin, decred, or even ethereum.

New miner binaries now available! Updated the OP text to reflect the release. Big thanks to Epsylon3 and Wolf0 who completed RFP-5 milestones that made this release possible! More information in the announcement.

Wow.. Huge thank you! I'll check after 24 hrs but after an hour it looks like I got a 5-10% increase in hashrate and a 100% reduction in rejects.  My rejects were around 1% on pool.mn. I haven't had a reject in an hour.  Cheesy

v4 is running a lot more stable for me than v3.3 and only 12 seconds to generate the DAG in gpu memory... awesome!  Grin Time to try it out on a less power hungry cpu.

P.S. I'm still hoping for a decred only option for my other cards.  Shocked

I used to mine with Ethos, now claymore seems to be available only on windows. Does anybody have any idea on how much RAM I need per card ? Most of my rigs are with 390s. The good thing about Ethos was that it was running fine with only 4Gb of RAM for a 6 card rig and not even consuming all 4.

To mine ETH you need a minimum 2 Gb RAM per card, otherwise the DAG won't load into the cards's memory

That is actually incorrect with ethos my rigs of six 390s run perfectly fine with only 4Gb of RAM on the system. About 2.9 is actually used. Ethos is really striped down Ubuntu distribution with anything not needed for mining removed. Great job by developers btw.

I think Trimegistus is talking about video ram, not system ram.  I have 3 cards using 4.9gb sys ram on Windows 10. About 1.5-2gb of that is running Nem wallet (java) and GPU monitor.  I have 12gb so I haven't disabled any excess services and programs to free up extra memory.

how to decred-only mine?  I see only modes to do dual and eth-only. Thanks

I can't figure it out either.  If I use only decred cmd switches I get an error.

Thanks to who ever has the answer.

only dual mode and eth only mode - refer to 1st post in this thread
Thanks for the info.

"This miner is free-to-use, however, current developer fee is 1% for Ethereum-only mining mode (-mode 1) and 2% for Ethereum+Decred mining mode (-mode 0), every hour the miner mines for 36 or 72 seconds for developer.
Decred is mined without developer fee.
If you don't agree with the dev fee - don't use this miner."

The way this is worded it sounds like there may have been a planned or undocumented decred only mode. Even if there was a developer fee I would be interested in a decred only mode. The two cards I have running in dual mode have less rejects than the 1 I have running with cgminer.

I'm a small miner. I currently mine ETH & Decred. I keep 50% of what I mine and sell 50% as a hedge and to buy mining equipment. Right now I mine just a little decred because there's no gui wallet/staking.  When there is one in the near future I'll mine more.  Since it is a stake coin I'll hold 75% & sell 25% after a non-cmd line gui is released.

I'm installing the dual miner to see how it does. Mining a little more decred won't cause me to change how I currently buy & sell.  But those that have no interest in eth might just sell their eth to buy more decred.

POS tickets are SUPER cheap right now...  next adjustment in 10 hours or so.  Great time to buy them.

Decred is super cheap right not.
Buy decred instead of pos ticker, much better, and you don't have to wait 3-4 months to be rewarded.
buy, buy. 0.004 is lowest price ever.

LOL....you need DCR to purchase POS tickets....

Ehehehe. i forgot. sorry.

Buy cheap DCR to buy more tickets and get more stake rewards!  That might sound a bit better. Smiley

When gui wallet become available. Price will increase.

i doubt, pos miners are dumping, for free because they earn coin for free no reason to hold

I'm a PoS miner and I haven't sold 1 single coin nor do I intend to in the foreseeable future
Why do you people make a scene each time the price drops a bit ?
Fluctuation is normal. I have never seen a stock or a currency that only rose and never dropped?

Trading in alts is all speculation until it's actually put to use in some sort of wide spread context even if it is just gambling. I haven't seen a alt come out of the gate as a widely adopted and fully developed platform yet. Not to mention that DCR has only been trading for a little over a month?  I'm not sure where people seem to get the idea that crypto is a place to make a quick buck, but that's what it seems to me.

All in all this isn't a bad thing for those that believe that decred will develop and become more widely used. It gives us time to get in at the bottom.

If I had had more money when I got started I would have bought more ETH at 190k.  Right now I'm hoping to get a good amount of dcr when they get a working gui wallet.
