Trojan detected, should we be worried???

Hi,

I've reported this to Microsoft as a false positive. It happens from time to time that they incorrectly detect Awesome Miner as a threat. In general, security software are very sensitive for anything related to mining.

Update: I received a confirmation from Microsoft that they have removed this incorrect detection.

Please follow the steps below to clear cached detection and obtain the latest malware definitions.

Code:
cd %ProgramFiles%\Windows Defender
MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignatures
MpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate

Great! Smiley

Hey all,

just found this - https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/776876453525979166/818200828422127676/unknown.png

Looks like NH downloaded some 5.5D version. new github was created by so called phoenix miner devs with the same checksum as the original. Since what we got in AM is repacked version, we cannot confirm the checksum. But i believe Patrike knows..
I will look their new Github repo and compare the checksums.

Awesome Miner uses the official PhoenixMiner 5.5c ZIP-file as a base. Then we add their two "nvrtc" libraries to the ZIP-file to ensure our users doesn't have to ensure all dependencies manually. For this reason, all files like PhoenixMiner.exe are identical to the official PhoenixMiner release. The ZIP-file is however a bit larger as it also includes two more dependency libraries (resulting in a different checksum for the entire ZIP-file).

Update: I've verified the files on the new PhoenixMiner Github page:
https://github.com/PhoenixMinerDevTeam/PhoenixMiner/releases/
All matches their official release 5.5c they made in January, also included in Awesome Miner.
Perfect!

Another question, can you include other Pools like for exampe Ethermine to managed profit switching as HiveOn?

Another hint, Nicehash published recently warning about the using of popular PhoenixMiner, do you have more infomation about?
https://www.nicehash.com/blog/post/stop-using-phoenix-miner-immediately
I´m a little bit worried about!
I'm getting a number of questions about this right now. The only fact we have right now is that the PhoenixMiner account on the download site Mega has been disabled. That could be for any reason. Claymore Miner has also been removed from Mega for example.

Other than that it's difficult to get confirmed information on what happened here. Someone (Nicehash team claiming it's the Phoenix Miner developer, but I don't know if that is confirmed) posted another download link to Phoenix Miner that contained different files. I don't have any first hand information so I honestly don't know.

If you would ask me to speculate, there are at least two possibilities here:

1) It was the actual PhoenixMiner developer that posted the link and the new mining software could contain some virus

2) Someone pretending to be the PhoenixMiner developer and posted a link to the new mining software that for sure contains virus. Maybe they even tricked the Nicehash team into including it in their software?

I can also point out that I receive e-mail messages every month where someone ask me to include "Gminer 3.0", "Phoenix Miner 6.1" or "Claymore Miner 20.0" or similar, where they provide a link to the download. I never click on any of those as it's obvious what they are trying to do here.
Thanks for your reply. Its difficult to interpret. Looks like a PR-Stunt from NH Side, but could also be true.
Looks like a campaign against Devfee Miner at all. We will see .....

Unfortunately still don´t work with HiveOn.
But what is that? There are also without function ....
It was added to this Profit Switching list by mistake, it wasn't intended to be included in this list and I will remove it in the next release. The idea is to simply detect if you are mining on this pool and it would provide the profitability. I will also make a correction to this feature in the next release.
Thanks for the info, do you still work on the implementation of HiveOn Pool? That will really nice to have!
Yes, can you please verify on v8.3.2?
Uhh, yes, it seems to be working. Smiley
But must wait for the profit switching!

Keep you updated!

Thank you, thats great!  Smiley

And where I have to add the pool? Under "Pools" or "User Defined Online Services" in the "Options Dialog"?
With the next release you can simply add it as a pool in the Options dialog, Pools section.

Hi,

is it able to include the HiveOn ETH Pool to the "User defined online services" via API like Nicehash ?
I mean for switchting with his own profitability not the common ETH profit, Minerstat for example can do that.

Thank you!

We can do it for sure, but also Awesome Miner could do it as we offer free and easy to use API: https://api.minerstat.com/docs-coins

@patrike

can you say something about?

PhoenixMiner 5.4c (release candidate) is ready. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.4c from here (both Windows and Linux versions):

https://mega.nz/folder/DR8ChZCR#vSVph_yXN27g09ge5EqduQ  (MEGA)

If you want to check the integrity of the downloaded file, please use the following hashes (you need the last file PhoenixMiner_NVRTC_Windows.zip only if you want to mine BCI with Nvidia cards under Windows):
Code:

The changes in this release (since 5.4b) include the following:

  • Added support for DAG epochs up to 500
  • Fixed crash (or GPUs not detected error) when using the latest Windows Nvidia drivers 460.79 and 460.89
  • Validated support for Nvidia RTX 3090, 3080, 3070, and 3060Ti GPUs. Those still use the current kernels and there are no speed increases from the previous PhoenixMiner release
  • Add support for the older AMD Linux driver 19.50-1011208-ubuntu-18.04 (used by some Linux mining OSes and other software)
  • Added new kernels to allow mining on AMD Hawaii cards (R9 390, etc.) with the current and future DAG epochs (even with DAG buffer above 4GB for the 8GB cards). Note that the AMD Windows drivers do not support compute mode for Hawaii cards, so the hashrate will be quite low (14-15 MH/s with the current ETH DAG epoch). This problem is fixed under Linux, where you can get the full 29-30 MH/s speed out of the Hawaii cards.

The changes of the previous beta (5.4b) since the last version (5.3b) are:

  • New kernels for AMD Vega and Navi GPUs that are slightly faster when the DAG buffer is approaching or passing 4GB in size (the current ETH DAG is close to 4GB). To use these new kernels, you need to use drivers 20.5.1 or later under Win10, or 20.10.x or later under Linux
  • Automatic re-running auto-tune as needed when switching to a different DAG buffer type (e.g. when switching from ETH to ETC, or back)
  • Added support for the latest AMD Windows 10 drivers 20.12.1 and 20.11.3
  • Fixed crash when trying to set -mvddc on very old AMD drivers (including the beta blockchain drivers from 2017)
  • Other small fixes and improvements

Some notes on the best (or at least some of the better) drivers for AMD cards:
  • If you have 6GB or 8GB card that is at least Polaris (i.e. 470/480/570/580, Vega, Radeon VII, Navi), you should run at least driver 20.5.1 under Windows 10, or driver 20.10.x under Linux.
  • If you have 4GB Polaris card (i.e. 470/480/570/580), ideally you should also run drivers 20.5.1 or later. At the very least the drivers should be either 18.12.1.1 to 19.7.5 (inclusive), or 19.12.2 and later. Under Linux, drivers 19.x.x or 20.x.x should be OK for 4GB cards.
  • Avoid using the 20.40.x, and 20.45.x drivers under Linux.

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.4c

Unfortunately still incorrect shares with my radeon RX6800. To bad ....

Hi All,

Anyone currently using RX 6800 with Phoenix miner what Hash rate are you getting and what are your settings granted there is no available bios mode yet.

Thanks in advance.

Optimized 63-65 Mhs @ 150W with my RX6800 but not really stable. I´ve got some invalid shares ....
Not optimized and adjusted yet!

@developer, how is the current status?

Thanks Good to know, do you care to share your settings, perhaps I might be lucky with the silicon on mine? Thanks in advance.
I meand PhoenixMiner is not adjusted to mine with the RX6000 Series, I´ve got invalid shares with standard clocks as well.
But only with Phoenix, Lolminer and Nanominer for example works fine but with slightly slower hashrate (62-63 M/hs) ...
