Re: Pending Transaction

Thanks for the response. I'm not that proficient with using the Electrum Wallet to perform a double spend. and it sounds like a stunt I don't want to attempt with the amount or my level of experience. I would hate to lose the entire amount. But since we are on the topic I do have other addresses that are mine that I can try this. If I try this route both transactions get rejected by the miners? Or does one get accepted and one gets denied? I might quickly reach a point that I want to somehow coerce the BTC back into my wallet. And then how would I go about a double spend? Would I just send the same amount again, because technically the amount is still in my wallet and I can do that right? And then what happens with the pending transaction?

Pending Transaction
by

Made a transaction yesterday July 10 and the transaction is still pending coming up 24 hours later. Transaction ID# e357752dd8e6b49ece3ebe76f78d912824f414fa3325a2365697f0c78c82de0e It's coming up on 24 hours is there a way to call this transaction back? Also I had a higher transaction fee of .0001 entered and when I clicked send the wallet recommended a lower transaction fee. Naturally I accepted the recommended lower fee. And now here I am trying to figure out how to get my .3542 BTC back.  Huh Would switching servers prevent this? All help appreciated, thank you.

I have a similar problem I sent a transaction yesterday that is still pending. I had a higher fee and when I went to send the transaction the wallet recommended a different lower fee. Naturally I accepted the lower fee. This was around 4pm Central time on July 10 and I'm still waiting. Is there a way to recall the transaction? Right now it seems the BTC is going to be waiting for block acceptance forever. Would be nice to get my .3542 BTC back sometime today. And wouldn't it make sense that with higher transactions flowing across the blockchain miners would be more willing to accept lower fees? How profit motivated is this system going to be? It seems this kind of defeats the perceived decentralisation of Bitcoin. Go Greed!

addnode=5.9.85.11
addnode=5.9.98.175

Thank you for the nodes.  When I add the 2 nodes is that in addition to the 2 that are already in the appdata file or should I keep the .conf and .dat and delete all the other stuff in the file and and just add the 2 nodes you just referenced.

The wallet also managed to find some active connections before I added the 2 new nodes.

The network just went to 0 connections. Anyone running a node out there or have a tutorial available to set up nodes?

What direction is this coin going and how many people out there are currently mining it? Any big bag holders with millions of coins?

So... my wallet took another shit this morning and is not syncing up. The wallet is 209 blocks and about 3 hours behind. The balance in the wallet appears to be good except for an errant 450000 (approx) cent that appears and it is not in the transaction log, could it be interest? Any help syncing back up would be appreciated, post or pm me, thank you.

New PirateCoin permanent node added:

addnode=98.174.25.28

Can you explain to me how to create a node for the network? Is it just a matter of having a machine dedicated to always being up with the wallet open and then using that IP as a node?

I'm wondering the same thing. I think if thats all it takes is a machine with a wallet on it that is on the correect blockchain the best way to have a dedicated node that is connected all the time is to have a Raspberry Pi machine with a wallet as a node. Rasp Pi's have a low foot print and power consumption to run a wallet. I would be up for dedicating a Rasp Pi as a node. I don't have the programming skills or the compilation skills to build a wallet for a Pi.

My other concern is people have shared 2 nodes at the moment. I have added these to my conf file and still nothing. My wallet does not sync. Have I properly created my conf file? I think I have. I was successful in creating another .conf file for another faultering coin wallet I have, but then again, I'm not a crypto wizard so I do have my doubts. I had to create my pirate.conf and I'm wondering if I named it correctly for the wallet to see the file. I created my conf file in my Appdata Piratecoin folder and deleted everything except my .dat file. Another concern of mine is the two nodes that have been shared- is there a way to verify these nodes and is there such a thing as a bad node. Can a bad node allow someone to hack my wallet, pc, or other crytpo wallets.

Along with having permanent nodes is to have enough hashing power to prevent a 51% attack. I def do not have this ability. And I don't think relying on pools is enough to prevent this.

Why change the name of the coin. Changing the name for anything other than legal reasons is rediculous. I think if the Pirate Political Party adopts the coin it would be a move in the right direction. Regardless of how altruistic the party is or isn't. The party just needs a media spin doctor to promote their cause in a positive direction.

Sounds like you have the conf file in the proper directory (%appdata%\Piratecoin) but the file must be named PirateCoin.conf for the wallet to read it.

No worry about bad nodes being able to hack your wallet.  The only way a node can go "bad" is if there is a fork in the blockchain, and the node ends up syncing up to the wrong blockchain.  There is no possibility of other nodes being able to hack your PC, steal your coins or anything like that.

Your worries about a 51% attack are valid, until the net hashrate comes up significantly this is a real possibility.  However, it requires some specialized skills to implement, not very many people know how to successfully do this.  There's really no reason to do it unless there is significant profit to be made, and I'm pretty sure the people with those skills would probably rather spend their time elsewhere, than a coin only listed on 1 crappy exchange with about $15 per day of trading volume. Cool

Thank you. Properly renaming the file worked.  69000 blocks to GO! woohoo!

Sorry there appears to be only one at the moment - will setup another permanent node soon

addnode=85.25.223.7

Thank you. I created the pirate.conf file and added maxconnections=100 to the file and also the
addnode=85.25.223.7 and I still have 0 active connections and the wallet is not syncing. Is there anything else I need to do to get the wallet to sync?

Can someone pm me with a barney style tutorial breakdown of how to fix my cent wallet it has been broke since block 242998 for about 35 days. Where to find files to delete, save, or replace. I made the mistake of sending 50,000,100 cent from cryptsy to my wallet and I really want to recover my cent. The cent that I have lost has not appeared back in my cryptsy wallet and it is out there in the abyss. Hopefully if I can fix my wallet I'll get it back. Much appreciated. Thank you.
