Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns
by
Pingu
on 23/11/2015, 18:39:35 UTC
It seems to me almost like the 777 and bitvest sig campaigns are suckering/scamming newbies into running around with there tags and then never getting payed.

The terms are that the person has to wear the advert at the time they apply for the position and continue to wear it in order to be admitable, but then they rarely, if ever, receive any sort of response to there application, and don't end up on the document. They advertise that they accept noobs but don't seem to actually accept noobs..

So pretty much they get tricked into advertising for free because it is the only way to hopefully get accepted, which they likely won't..

Or am I missing something here?

I doubt they're doing it on purpose but some campaigns arent run as well as others. I imagine it's quite time consuming to tell numerous newbs that they're not accepted as well but if they don't get confirmation after a day or so they should just take it as they're not accepted and move on.

I have a big and simple theory about them.
They are part of your process to become famous.
When you get enemies it means that you, yes I mean everyone of us is being considered by other counterparts,
Perfect commentary, my friend!

You're not going to become famous by being purposely annoying on a message board... unless you want to become famous on here or something. Just because people find you annoying doesn't mean they are fans or haters either. You're just trying to court attention which is petty but when you get some yoiu dont like you attempt to deflect criticism into reverence as some sort of defense mechanism. Maybe take a look at yourself from an outside perspective or take on others opinions because there's usually some truth to them.
Lol.

Thank you for demonstrating the point of this thread! <3

Lol thank you for demonstrating mine. Clearly you didn't read my post but just want to illicit a response which is troll 101. You childishly set up this false dichotomy that if anyone replies with criticism you win a point. Not true especially when you're too lazy to even construct an argument especially one not based on logical fallacies. I also don't think you understand your own arguments "There's a difference between a person that simply doesn't like you, and an active hater". Providing criticism of someone is not an 'active hater'.

I will probably sell 2 or 3 when it hits 1 million dollars per coin  Grin Tongue
lol 1 million per coin? thats highly unlikely. with 21 million coins in the market that would make btc a 21 trillion dollar industry. that would be a sight to see. i personally would sell my coins if they went over 2000 usd.  Lips sealed

i would sell all my bitcoins if, i would be making about 1 bitcoins per day as a steady income.

1 bitcoin a day is over £150 and you'd be pretty well off if you were earning that much. I think you people in here have unrealistic expectations for bitcoin. You're never going to get rich unless you work hard for it but just expecting to get a few bitcoins to become a millionaire in the future is naive and you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Mac and Ubuntu are great for their lack of viruses. Too easy to get them on windows machines even with ant-virus so that's why I don't like them.

Re: [2015-09-26] vox.com: This Bitcoin chip is supposed to be the future of...
by
Pingu
on 27/09/2015, 16:08:55 UTC
It doesn't look like generating bitcoins it the best application of it:

Quote
The backers of 21 believe that the ability to generate small quantities of bitcoins is going to become a standard component in digital devices — just as a wifi chip is today. They envision a future where digital currency serves as a lubricant for a wide variety of electronic transactions that aren't possible with today's computers. If 21's technology works, it could deliver something technologists have dreamed about for decades: a practical system for paying for content and online services with tiny payments. For example, 21's technology could be used to power a jukebox that plays ad-free music, or a camera that automatically rents its own online storage.

I think that a chip probably isn't essential for most products though and bitcoin integration can be built in to the software though if prominent people have invested millions in it maybe I'm missing something.

Nah not yet. Personally I'd rather just use cash currently but I'd rather hold onto my coins for a while in the hope they rise in value before I spend them. I think they're undervalued at the moment.

Re: Special trains for ‘rude’ Chinese
by
Pingu
on 07/09/2015, 17:39:27 UTC
One point I'd like to make that might surprise some westerners is that Chinese think it is extremely rude to not take off your shoes when walking into someone's home (and would never do that themselves - so you always see indoor sandals or the like at the entrance to any typical Chinese home).

Yet many westerners will come into a Chinese home and just "walk in with their shoes on".

So things that people think are disgusting or inappropriate do vary from country and country.

I think this all depends on how respectful someone is. I live in the UK and its not customary or expected but most people (including me) at least offer or ask if they should take their shoes off. I'd rather keep them on if they're not dirty personally but I always ask.

Re: Public still largely unaware of what Bitcoin is, how to use it and how to obtain
by

on 23/08/2015, 12:25:49 UTC
Looking at the comments of http://9gag.com/gag/abbvy4X its clear that a lot of people have absolutely no idea what Bitcoin is, how to get bitcoins, and why you would even need Bitcoin in the first place.

Well why do most people in the mainstream need or want to use it? They don't really have a use for it currently if we're being honest.

Even they people answering the question often state that Bitcoin is mainly used in black markets and the deep web.

Well it mainly is really at the moment, though this will change over time. Hopefully some big industries like the remittance market will get involved.

Re: Satoshi's timezone
by

There is no guarantee that that is his actual timezone. It is possible that he changed his clock to further hide himself.

He also could have posted at odd hours do that people searching for him would be following a red herring.

This is exactly what I was thinking. If he was really smart he would have left little things like this  to throw people off, though I'm not sure if he did or not (though obviously he is pretty smart and has evaded detection for this long).

Some things you may wanna modify:

3) Bitmixer's post limit is temp. 100 per week, and they have decreased the payouts.

Bitmixer? Are you sure? Nothing seems to have changed to me. Are you sure you don't mean another campaign?

Re: What BTC debit card you recommend?
by
Pingu
on 03/08/2015, 09:11:11 UTC
Bit-x.com cards became better lately since they took off some fees . You can get one forfree if you are part of the signature compaign otherwise you have to order it and pay for it . (you need an account on Bit-x.com)

What fees did they take off? I'd like a card but not with the current fees. If there wasn't any inactivity fees I would use them but now whilst they have them as it just seems like a waste. they'd be nice to have as a back up and if you needed the quick cash but not otherwise.

Re: Will rent out my sig space.
by
Pingu
on 03/08/2015, 09:04:13 UTC
I've participated in signature campaigns before but quit when the people running them started requiring that I sign up for their websites to claim the Bitcoin. I'd rather make this as straightforward as possible -- I rent out my sig space and you send Bitcoin to an address I specify. Any takers?

Then don't use the ones that require you to sign up externally. Next to nobody buys signatures individually so just choose one that bests suits you and your posting habbits. Signing up via an external site isn't that much of an inconvenience either and usually takes only a minute.

I really cannot see them letting it be vAT exempt. I think the only reason they want to regulate it so much is so that they can get their taxes from it and they most certainly aren't going to let us use it for free and untaxed. they always want their cut.

Re: London takes the lead in Bitcoin innovation
by

on 29/06/2015, 20:18:59 UTC
London is fast becoming a global hub for development of innovations using digital currency Bitcoin. City institutions including the Bank of England, Barclays, UBS and Goldman Sachs are all looking into the potential for using Bitcoin to speed up processes in traditional finance.

Are they going to be using bitcoin though? Looks to me like they just want to take advantage of the blockchain tech to save themselves some money.

I also wonder whether we'll see big cues like at regular cash machines. I think they could just go to exchanges online instead, though.

Remains to be seen whether they have enough supply of Bitcoins and/or if they will still be able to accept credit cards as these ATMs are usually also hooked up to an exhcange on the backend and will require Fiat deposits.

Well if they run out they can always buy more, which is good news for the rest of us #supplyanddemand

Re: How many friends did you recommend bitcoin to? Did they accept it?
by

Saw this on r/Buttcoin: "I convinced. A friend to buy in at 1200.... he bpught in big. We arent friends anymore." (link)

Financial advise can be risky - beware of "convincing" people, friends or family about their investments!

That's why I never tried to persuade anyone that bitcoin was a sure investment because I was aware of the risks. I bet a lot of people got burnt by buying in at the top during the excitement of the then seemingly never ending rise only to see it collapse monumentally.
