I ordered the 5Mh/s version back in March. I'm just going to gamble and hope it ships. If the company decides to steal from us, I'm sure the law will get involved and we'll have a class action lawsuit against them.
The "law" won't do much good if the company launders the money out of the U.S. prior to the suit/asset freeze. You can sue and sue and sue, but you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip. I would still be wary - did you pay with Paypal, and have the payment source into Paypal be a credit card (preferably American Express)? That way, you still have the chargeback option if things go south.
I have just been at bitcoin conference in san Jose ca, this was a great thing for bitcoin. One thing I noticed while at the conference is there where heaps of ripple employees/promoters their pretending to be bitcoin users and supporters. They where very sneaky and have also disguised themselves on this forum as bitcoin users by building up lots of posts. Have have seen ripple for what it is now. ripple is a group of people trying to fool people into using their system and their own crypto currency to get rich and hold a monopoly on the market.

Isn't Ripple a virtual currency created by a for-profit, USA based private corporation that uses a centralized approach? If so, it is the complete antithesis of Bitcoin.
I don't know where you live, but there certainly are none of them here.
I live in the USA. I would think that midwest, low population states like Wyoming and Montana would be one of few places "safe" from the effects of a third global war? Where do you live?
When and if total war happens, I'm looking for weapons, ammo, protective gear, and a boat...not bitcoins, or any currency, or even gold (unless I can make bullets out of it).
With these materials, how would you intend to feed and clothe yourself + the family you are protecting (if you don't have children, let's include your elderly parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc)? I would think it would be easier to find a quiet place in the world to farm/sharecrop, work, trade, etc. while the various nation-states fight it out.
Back to my original question: where to go in the event of WWIII if one would like to stay out of the crossfire?
The only altcoin IMHO that has some hope of being "the silver" to Bitcoin's "gold" is the Litecoin. I would be incredibly wary with the other altcoins' penny-stock like movements and awful circulation/liquidity.

True, the media spins stories for the right price. However, even if the "banks" were to drive their enormous financial resources into smearing BTC....what would that accomplish? If anything, it would push BTC further into the black market/darknet and possibly even encourage its use and proliferation. The ensuing media frenzy surrounding BTC would also give the currency free advertising to the masses and encourage people to look it up and even download the wallet client to start using it.
1930s era Prohibition....'nuff said.
The only altcoin I have any faith in at this time are Litecoins. Litecoins ARE a necessary diversification away from BTC should something bad happen to SHA256 and whatnot

Though BFL's CEO's felonious past raised an eyebrow for me, I've already read plenty of substantiated reports of people receiving their BFL Jalapenos. I don't think BFL is a scam, though taking preorders for a product 1+ year out, the funds of which were likely used to support ongoing R&D, is not something I would do, personally, as a businessperson.
Overall though, regardless if BFL starts shipping the rest of their preorders out in a timely fashion - with other BTC ASIC companies coming on board and their products going online.....I see the BTC mining difficulty to rise exponentially by this Christmas, making ASIC purchases in 2013 a potentially risky proposition if one is seeking to recoup the value of their investment in less than a year.

Speculation on LTC price aside, in order for myself (a merchant and buyer) to support Litecoins more, there needs to be better price stability and liquidity.
I think that once Mt Gox gets on board with Litecoins and the Atlantis Litecoin market has more trading, we'll see some wild swings before stabilization at around 5-10 USD/LTC. Just my two cents.

Here's a question for you all, then:
If WWIII does begin - with the West/EU pitted against the East/Eurasia - where would you recommend taking your wealth (gold, silver, bitcoin wallets, litecoin wallets, etc.) and going to, for safety? Where do you think would be a stable locale for yourself and your family to work and make a living while the world blows itself apart?
