Re: Newbie's, What's You're Biggest Bitcoin Related Problem?

My biggest problem now is that there is no easy, safe way to buy Bitcoins for US dollars.

I used BitInstant in the past but they were not honest about their fee structure, and I've heard too many customer service horror stories.

LocalBitcoins is too risky for obvious reasons.

With BitFloor shut down, exchanges require me to jump through ridiculous hoops to get any money into the system.

So where does this leave me?  I'm eagerly awaiting Bitcoin ATM's.

Ah well then, don't bother with the CPU.  It will only waste electricity and shorten the lifetime of your equipment.

I don't have any posts. This is a throwaway account. I lost almost $500,000 gambling with Bitcoin. I would like to make a post on the Gambling subforum, telling my story and warning others about the dangers of gambling.

Are you that guy from Reddit that's in the US on a student visa?

yes...

Ouch, I read your entire post.  Glad to hear that you didn't take the easy way out, and that you want to help others!

Keep your chin up buddy!  I'm pulling for you!

My advice would be to buy BTC with the fiat, hold half of the BTC, and transfer the other half of the BTC to a securities exchange like BitFunder.com where you can invest in professional mining operations.

What hashrate are you getting?

I have a fairly powerful CPU and I was only able to squeeze 4-5 megahash/second out of it, which is pretty pathetic.

Re: Bitcoin Businesses and Developers, Let's Get Started!

Hello all,

I am a C++, Lua, and JavaScript application developer.  My area of expertise is in Google Apps scripts that integrate with Google Apps for Business (Spreadsheets, Forms, etc.) and along those lines I will be announcing a stock analysation platform based on Google Spreadsheets as soon as I have the ability to post in the Securities sub-forum.

I'm also interested in contributing to a bitcoin-related software project.  Any ideas of what I could work on?  Preferably something with pay, but I'm flexible if the learning experience is worth the time commitment.

Cheers!

Hello all,

My name is Sean.

I've lurked this forum for about a year now.

I've made a tool for analysing bitcoin stocks and wanted to get some feedback by posting it here.  I guess I need to wait until my post count is higher before I make a thread over in the Securities sub-forum.

Nice to finally have a voice here though!  I expect this will be my new full time forum, and I hope to be a help to everyone and Bitcoin in general.

Cheers!
