December 1st, 2017 - PotCoin, the digital currency that facilitates transactions within the legalized cannabis industry, is pleased to announce that it will be launching a promotion with the Canadian federally-licensed producer and distributor of medical cannabis WeedMD Inc. (TSX VENTURE: WMD).


In what appears to be the first association between a cryptocurrency and a licensed producer to date, PotCoin sees this as a major move towards faster adoption by cannabis vendors and suppliers. The licensed producer services the medical cannabis industry in Canada and has recently announced an expansion in anticipation of the upcoming legalization of recreational marijuana next year.

The exact details of the event will soon follow. What has been confirmed is that PotCoin community members eligible to purchase from WeedMD, will be afforded certain benefits when using PotCoin, regardless of whether they are new or existing patients.
 

While 2017 is coming to an end, many legal reforms are fast approaching in the cannabis space, from California allowing recreational use on January 1st to Canada legalizing it federally as of July 1st. PotCoin will continue to expand its initiatives in adoption and redemption of the coin by vendors and customers alike, as the number of countries and states changing their stance on the plant keeps growing. Updates on the cryptocurrency’s roadmap and projects are expected to follow soon.

Once again, the dev team continues to bring forth new methods for acquiring and redeeming PotCoin in a way that will prove extremely valuable to the ecosystem. We’re very excited to announce that this initiative is now complete and has already begun implementation.

Thanks to the help of the development team at PotWallet and General Bytes, the world’s second biggest Bitcoin ATM provider, PotCoin can now be integrated and accepted at close to 800 locations worldwide, with an estimated 1300 by the end of 2017! General Bytes only supports a handful of currencies, now yours truly will be at ATMs in over 35 different countries.


This will make it even easier for dispensaries and cannabis vendors to accept PotCoin. Customers who don’t know how to access the channels like (cryptocurrency) exchanges, now have a simple way to get their hands on PotCoin thanks to General Bytes’ growing network of ATMs. What’s more, dispensaries looking to accept PotCoin in their stores, without the need for software integration, setup, etc. have access to GB’s point of sale terminals.

We wanted to give everyone a quick update regarding the Winter/Sprint roadmap we posted back on December 29th. As promised, we will make our best efforts to keep the community aware of what we are doing and working on.

• We have submitted the Potwallet App to the Apple stores but got denied. As per Apple’s policy, No specific reason is given but their agent hinted that PotCoin as a cryptocurrency is not yet accepted on the store. We will continue to work with Apple and their requests hoping they will eventually approve the App.

• The Android App, everything went through fine and we are adding latest patches to it and will push it live soon.

• The new updates and features for PotWallet.com are done and are being tested internally, so far no major issues have been reported, Security is the most important thing for us and we want to make sure users coins are well protected so please be patient and we will release more news once it’s ready.

• We have signed an agreement with a Licensed Producer in Canada to offer PotCoin as a reward system and to accept PotCoin as a form of payment. The LP will release the news in the coming month.

• We have also been approached by some Medical Marijuana Sites in Canada that are looking to offer PotCoin as a reward system, more news will come next month.
