Re: Is bitcoin an asset or a currency?
by
Prem.Soorajpaul

It is very good question and there are very different views among community. Actually, it is  known as currency and it had given very good return in last few year and going up and up. There is lots of gap b/w demand and supply so people have start to consider it as a asset. But my point of view, it's still a currency and it can go anywhere up and down.

Some countries are taking long term capital gain tax on crypto currency. If we want to live a reputed life in country, we should pay tax as per law and enjoy your life without tension. Otherwise, you will be in fear that govt. can come to your our door any time to ask, you didn't pay tax so now pay tax with a heavy penalty.

In coming years, there  is strong possibility to replace gold by bitcoin. Gold give good return but it don't do anything for economy as most of the people keep it in their locker. But in coming years, people will use bitcoin as a normal currency and it gives a good return as well. Similarly, supply is very limited like Gold.

Not only on bitcoin, it apply with everything. we should not invest our all money in a single scheme. Diversification is always good and more secure way of investment. Right now, bitcoin is very volatile. So not sure, what stage of bitcoin you will require your money back. So keep some money in reserve or invest in other scheme. Long term, bitcoin is very good.
