Re: Poll: What will happen on 7/26/16

I suspect the price will spike shortly before the halving as people buy in on the expectation that the halving will cause a sttep hike, but after the halving and excitement has worn off it'll probably come crashing back down.

What do you mean not a convertible one? And how much is your budget? That's the big question for recommendations.

Don't be fooled by the quiet and slowly rising price. The next dump will bring it all the way down to at least $180.
There simply is no demand.
Lol, BTC is rising now.. Finally Smiley

I don't know why anybody listens to these buy /sell now threads. Usually either just fud or false hype.

Re: 2016, The Year of Bitcoin?
by
Professor Plums

2012: "2013 is going to be the year of bitcoin"
2013: "2014 is going to be the year of bitcoin"
2014: "2015 is going to be the year of bitcoin"
2015: "2016 is going to be the year of bitcoin"

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy.

I'll just wait and see what the future brings. There are no promises but I have hope that sometime will be the year of bitcoin.

I mean, if you don't look at the bigger picture, you could argue that 2013 was the year of Bitcoin. We saw insane gains in price, acceptance, and news coverage in that year. The tail end of 2013 is when most people first heard about Bitcoin, after all.

Well if 2013 was the year of bitcoin then it's been and gone and that's no good. We need something optimistic to look forward to. The '13 bubble was probably caused by willybot on gox so maybe we will never get there again.

Re: Bitcoin or gold?

To me they're two completely different things and it depends on whether you like to take risks or prefer a steady investment. As for an investment I don't think gold is that great but it will hold it's value well, whereas I think there is huge potential in bitcoin if you have the balls and patience as it wont happen over night, but bitcoin is far riskier but the rewards are potentially there.

All these cards don't seem worth it due to the fees. Bit-x aren't really any different though the fees are what makes me stay away. Hopefully they'll all lower them at some point when nobody is using them.

I'm sure he will go to prison for something whether it be fraud theft or just gross negligence/incompetence. Would be interesting to find out what actually happened to the bitcoins. Does Mark still have them somewhere?

Re: THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING AN ACCOUNT
by

But what happen if the seller take back his account by proving the ownership of old address after sell the account to someone? Is it still possible right?

Please respond, I'm curious about this one.

No need to worry if the buyer have signed message from the seller when buying accounts, that would serve as proof of account transfer and he cant claim it back

Not necessarily. It's entirely possible that this will happen and if you read some threads in Meta it has happened before. Some scammers will sell their account then try claim it was hacked to get it back.

The private key is your bitcoins, so you need to keep that secure. Lose it or someone else gains access to it then your bitcoins are going to get stolen.

Look at how you guys are all helping a scammer.
Did anybody look at his trust?

Maybe he needs help securing bitcoins he steals?  Cheesy

My friends don't understand it or see the point in it. Nothing I can do to change their minds but maybe one day they will regret it. Bitcoin is still a great political tool regardless.

Yes, Life was Pi was a good movie.

Mad Max
Intersteller
Toy Story 3
Interspection
Black Swan

Interspection? Is that a cross between Inception and Interstellar?  Grin

Finally saw Interstellar over the weekend. It was horrible! Really bad.
I'm a huge Nolan fan and love sci-fi, but this move was so dumb. Waste of time.

My wife even revealed the (spoiler alert) "ghost" before Coop even sat there overnight to figure out it was gravity. And she is not the fastest at figuring major plot twists out. We both just figured it would be revealed in a better way than the bookshelf black hole scenerio.

~Yeah I didn't like it much. I actually much preferred the film by Nolan's Cinematographer Transcendence though critics seemed to shit all over it.

Contacting a patent office sounds like good advice. I would also consider recording your invention somehow, like with proofofexistence.com--maybe without being too specific so someone else could replicate what you have done. That way, there's a record of it with a timestamp showing you created someting before any competitor tries to do it. That's just a thought; you should probably so keep looking and thinking.

videotape to a flash drive and mail it to yourself.

This wouldn't really stand up in court. Can easily be tampered with. I'd just try find your countries patent office and go from there.

I found this pretty boring. I guess it's hard to make a enjoyable film about financial collapse though hehe.

Re: [WTB] HERO Accounts Paying .45BTC
by

I saw Hero/Senior accounts going real cheap lately. Maybe that will continue. But Da Dice and 7BitCasino have new high-paying campaigns for Hero Members, so sellers may start upping their prices. Just my two cents on the current state of the market. Smiley

That's what I see. ^__^

Not selling right now until demand picks up.

Who said they will pick up? I think if they were going to they would have already. Market is flooded with accounts but there's still decent paying deals around just people don't wanna pay over the odds for accounts.

There was a similar thread above, but he was arguing they shouldn't be called alt coins. I disagree as I think they are alt coins, but I don't see it as a negative but for it to be a positive they really need to offer something exceptional.

Re: Is sex selling bitcoin?
by

I don't understand why they wouldn't deal with adult websites? Why turn business away? Doesn't make sense. I think Paypal do this as well. Couldn't websites just accept bitcoin directly and use their own bots to cash out the coins to an exchange automatically?

They are forced to say no, due to various reasons which are beyond their control. For example, the banks, which are processing the fiat payments for Bitpay will freeze their savings / current accounts, if they deal with porn websites (remember that the same had happened to merchants dealing with legal recreational marijuana in the state of Colorado).

But Cannabis different. That's illegal on a federal level, sex or porn isn't so I can't see any justification why they can't deal with adult sites. Adult sites must have bank accounts too and lets not forget its a billion dollar industry so some banks must be working with them.

Bitcoin doesn't need sex to sell, it sells itself. That being said, I do think the sex industry could really benefit from bitcoin. I think it's only a matter of time before they get involved.

What if the Bitcoin-payment processors refuse to cater to the porn websites? I have heard that the Bitpay has turned down a number of requests from porn websites, along with similar requests from merchants dealing with legal Marijuana (in Colorado) and those dealing with pharmaceuticals. We need more and more payment processors, as currently Bitpay and Coinbase are monopolizing the market.
