Re: PhoenixMiner 5.6d: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux)

The new beta version is finally ready. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.7a from here:

PhoenixMiner_5.7a_Windows.zip (GitHub)
PhoenixMiner_5.7a_Linux.tar.gz (GitHub)

The new features in this release are:

  • Added lock core clock
  • The problem with the missing GPU temperatures on Nvidia GPUs is fixed
  • Added native kernels for AMD RX6700 GPUs. These are faster than the generic kernels and produce a lot less stale shares
  • Increase the max supported DAG epoch to 550 (should be enough to about Jan 2023)
  • Full support for setting clocks, fan speeds, voltages, and memory timings of AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards
  • The specific hashrate is now shown in the form of kilo hashes per joule (kH/J). Example: if a GPU has hashrate of 30 MH/s with 100W power usage, the specific hashrate is 300 kH/J
  • Added new command-line parameters -ttj and -ttmem, allowing automatic fan speed control based on GPU hotspot (junction), and memory temperatures respectively. Example: -ttmem 83 will keep the GPU memory temperature at or bellow 83C by increasing the fan speed as necessary. These parameters can be combined with -tt, as well as with each other. These options are supported only on AMD GPUs that report junction and memory temperatures
  • Added new command-line parameters -tmaxj and -tmaxmem, allowing to decrease the GPU usage when the GPU hotspot (junction), or GPU memory temperatures are above the specified thresholds. These options are supported only on AMD GPUs that report junction and memory temperatures
  • Added support for AMD Windows drivers 21.3.2, and 21.3.1
  • Added support for AMD Linux drivers 20.50.x. Use this drivers only if you have Polaris or older GPUs, or the latest RX6x000 GPUs. WARNING: Vega, Radeon VII, and Navi GPUs won't work with these drivers!
  • Turn off the zero fan feature on AMD cards whenever a fixed fan speed is used (e.g. -tt -40), or when an auto fan with min fan speed is used (e.g. -tt 63 -minfan 35). To disable this feature, add -fanstop 1 command-line parameter
  • When -mcdag 1 is specified under Linux, the miner will not wait for the daggen.sh script to finish before starting to generate the DAGs. Instead it will for a fixed 7 seconds. This allows you to do all the following in the daggen.sh: turn off the overclocking of Nvidia GPUs, sleep for 30-60 seconds to allow time for DAG generation, and then re-apply the overclocking of the Nvidia GPUs
  • Other small improvements and fixes

The support for -ttj, -ttmem, -tmaxj, and -tmaxmem for Nvidia 3090 and 3080 GPUs is not yet ready for release. We hope to have it ready for the final 5.7 release.

For more robust integrity check, you can use our GPG public key, which was verifyed with ETH transaction from our main devfee account as explained here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2647654.msg56755869#msg56755869.

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.7a.

Hm...

@minerja, what do you think?

If someone wants to buy some of our lemons we could pay with that.
Or pay in lemons.

Do you accept lemons? Sir? Do you believe in the project?

Did you ever release your "Mod code" - the source code so multiple sources can check it out? I found an old miner with some of your firmware on it but don't really want to mess with it unless I'm sure it's solid.

I’d like to ping this topic again. Here it is the end of 2020 and POW is still working.
I still maintain the opinion that the move to POS could effectively harm the eth economy. It’s no BTC, to be sure but ethereum has grown tremendously and with so many erc-20 tokens relying on the stability of a working system it will be really interesting to see how this plays out. From the start of this thread you can see how long they’ve been planning to move from mining to staking but always seem to get delayed or run into problems. Any opinions on this?

I know this is old, dead and probably useless, however in the sake of learning how to build an explorer would anyone want to try to set one up on an old Dell xeon server? What all would I need to do this?

There seems still to be a lot weighing on what will happen in China with mining both with hardware and regulations. Same story as always but that exponential curve in hardware is really a wildcard. Less wild than what regulation will do or not do though. Lot's of experimenting with how people react with current times and other world events going on to distract as well. Mine on!🐈

Fascinating. Although it is quite a meal of copy-pasta, it’s good information. I haven’t seen this before.
It’s good that it was patched so far back and that OG Master Sat was there to fix it so timely.
The code has come a long way.

That video link is amazing - here's another one.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyKIZPuepl8

The fact that it circulates itself with the boiling and condensing back into the pool is awesome. Just need some way to get the heat out of the tank. One of them uses a water circulated external cooler to cool the area inside the sealed tank. Some of the review videos look more like an open tank setup with condensation bars which are removable - probably more manageable than the sealed off tank. Not sure how much 'pressure' there is or if it's more of an atmospheric chamber of low pressure. Very fascinating.

Interesting. It sounds like a really good product.

"3M Novec Engineered Fluids have a number of significant advantages versus other classes of dielectric fluids, including mineral oil. In addition to being non-flammable and non-combustible, Novec fluids have the boiling points and thermal stability needed for two-phase immersion cooling operations. Servicing and maintenance are made easy, since the electronics come out of Novec fluid clean and dry."

Had not even thought about this - I wonder how long it would take to make the plastics hard and brittle...

Apparently Novec oil by 3M is a superior solution to mineral oil, based solely on their advertisements. Have not tried this but am curious.

Tried mining Lemons again - seems to work and confirm. Sending between wallets works, although slow to confirm.

Is anyone interested in buying a few thousand to a few hundred thousand Lemons for prices similar to when cryptopia was online?

The network is working right now. I don't know about comparing Lemoncoin to BTC in terms of Satoshi vs the developer of Lemon, both of them seem to be out of publicly working on the projects but they both still function and are minable, sendable coins. Sounds like that's the similar part, at least. It could be adopted and posted to some exchanges or at least an 'exchange' page managed here on the forum by anyone still interested.

Well, if you mine every single namecoin block, that's a total of about $900 a day.

The pool is 700PH, the miners (according to further up) are about 15PH, so that's about an extra ... $19 a day for those 15PH of miners.
15PH currently makes roughly $2.3k a day

So as long as this pool find EVERY SINGLE namecoin block, that's a bonus of 0.8%

Now of course the pool doesn't find every single block - if they only find 10% of the blocks, that's a bonus 0.08%
If they find 1% of the namecoin blocks, that's a bonus 0.008%

Yep it's a complete waste of time.

Edit: and by the way, since your title says "The Most Profitable Mining Pool" yet your current reward depends on a temporary drop in fees, then I guess it would also be valid to say that my pool's history of paying an average 110.11% of 100%PPS for the last 30 weeks proves it's a lie Cheesy

Woah, hey now... if you bring logic into it you'll ruin all the.. "fun!"

Is there any chance i could access it by ssh and bypass the fans from there?
For best pool compatibility and reliability I would purchase some of the fan-bypass chips mentioned by several members and leave the firmware stock.
For now you could indeed try leaving the fans connected and hang them out of the oil- however, if they're already burnt it might be an issue. It sounds like something you'll have to experiment with. I wouldn't get any hacked firmware to begin with but so far there aren't very many reliable ways to bypass the fans other than a hardware solution. Hopefully you find a way to make it work.

Hi, it doesn't have to do with heat, cause the miner was broken in under one minute since powering it in oil. The oil was still cold.

What kind of oil was used? If it isn't heat, its conductivity. As Steamtyme said - most of the setups have the fans removed and bypass chips are used on the fan pin jacks. You'd need a way to circulate the oil or use a bubbler in the way myself and others have designed.

If you had an immediate failure, find out what happened because it sounds like something seriously shorted out and if your oil is non-conductive as it should be, this short is likely to have been caused by something else.
