I wanted to make a paper wallet like the one bitcoin has with bitaddress.

https://www.bitaddress.org/bitaddress.org-v3.2.0-SHA256-ad4fd171c647772aa76d0ce828731b01ca586596275d43a94008766b758e8736.html

Is there anything safe and easy to use like the above one but for monero?

Is moneroaddress.org safe, reliable and easy to use like bitaddress?

https moneroaddress.org/

Works fine, follow the instructions.

If Polo won't commit to them, I will be finding another exchange and encouraging others to do the same.

Centralized exchanges have their role and finding another one may the right call for you, but either way I would still encourage trying to build liquidity on bitsqaure. I've had offers on there at times but I was often alone on the order book and didn't get any fills. I'll continue to list when I have the opportunity to do so.

How solid is the Bitsquare platform?  Does it rely on "smart" contracts?   Tongue
Very solid, I have made a few trades on it.  You need to get used to the interface and the trade mechanic.  No smart contracts...but it does use multisig.

How long until it supports advanced features like margin trading?  That is probably a way out.  It needs more developers.

Is there a testnet version to try out?  There may be a test net version, but the main net works fine.

Once Bitsquare is somewhat comparable/competitive feature-wise, I'd be happy to offer some XMR there at a discount, to coax volume away from the morally hazardous exchange under the command of ETH Fed Chairman Vitalik "Helicopter" Buterin.

One other thing:  You have to keep the app running to see offers and keep the app running to keep your own offer alive.

I copied it from github but I don't know how to run the application?

You just install then run the app. (.exe)

From the beautiful state of Idaho (USA), my two early bird cryptosteels arrived today!  Kind of funny, I emailed Wojciech Stopinski a few days ago, and Wojciech thought they were probably lost and I wouldn't get delivery.  Anyway, was happy to see them in my mailbox!

One of the major mistakes you made though, is that you stamped the tiles on both sides.  This reduces how deep the characters look on the tiles.  Next time I would just stamp one side and as deep as possible.  Like somebody has previously stated, some of the tiles you can hardly read because they aren't deep enough.  (which is pretty bad, since the information is what is really important about a cryptosteel).

There is also a need for tile blanks in the kit (which can be single stamped tiles flipped over).  I think the only "blank" available was a tile that was stamped with the Trezor symbol, which is unacceptable. I would also build it to allow for one blank tile between each 3 or 4 letters of each word for easier readability.

I would also label the individual word areas 1-24 versus 1-12 on each half.

The mechanism itself is pretty cool, but overall, I wouldn't recommend the product and give it a 5 out 10.  If the tiles were easier to read then of course the score would be much higher.

Will the Panama Papers have any effect on XMR?

Not unless a lot of people end up going to prison.  Otherwise, I would say no.  I suppose in the long run it may teach people to exercise 100% control over their stores of value, which can be facilitated with some cryptocurrencies.

Currently I am of the opinion that the so called Panama Papers are a gigantic joke.

code: You're wrong about the minimizing the damage. I get what you're trying to say, but you occasionally leave out the possibility that such disclosures can cause (financial) damage without even having to be true. Something which we had to assume until proven because the formal requirements of reporting had not been fulfilled and we were caught off the hook by a bug. That's why they are in place, and lots of bug bounty programs have this mechanism in place to push people to report and investigate privately. I deduce his intentions based on the fact that he chose to ignore the formal requirement. We don't weasel out of shit, I speak for myself and I'm not in charge of the bounties.

I have given my research to sdcdev, I too figured out it was vulnerable after investigating the code. We started work on fixing this bug as soon as possible.

Who is in charge of these decisions/bounties?

edu-online: Child_harold, you forgot to mention that it has also been the same team who have been working around the clock for the past 18 months to keep our dedicated users satisfied. Yes. We combine new and existing tech that sometimes needs to be improved. In this case, we will come up with a working solution (like we always do) if needed. As sated on Slack earlier this week, our lead developers are looking into the reported bug. We also think that it is only fair to reward Shen for pointing us in the right direction. It is what the bounty program was set up for in the first place. By constantly focussing on Shadows open source code, we can try to spot and fix it's weaknesses. All of this is done to work towards our main goal: saveguarding the privacy of our users. Anything that might compromise this is taken very seriously by all of our team members. That said, our team will be focusing on the issue at hand first and keep you all informed. In the mean time, please try to find some peace in the fact that we are all trying to achieve the same goal here. Privacy.

Pay him in XMR? :-)

i`M really annoyed of this fungibility problem that bitcoin has, we should resolve this fast or bitcoin can become an instrument of tyrrany in the future.

It is what is is. Bitcoin is first generation blockchain ledger technology that both by design and by culture and precedent is highly resistant to change. Maybe that will be good enough to maintain its lead in the market or maybe not.

One thing we can be almost certain will not happen is that it won't be resolved fast.

it will never be resolved, if it's this difficult to make the blocksize 2MB, then unlinkability or unraceability will never be added. it's too big of a change.

I asked Gavin back in 2011 about more anonymity in bitcoin, and he didn't seem interested at all.  Either he didn't understand the importance of fungibility (which is kind of related to anonymity) at the time, or maybe he still doesn't.  Needless to say, I started looking for other alternatives..eventually making my way to the Monero community.

Honestly I'm excited about this project, but I don't see anything new, it looks like the previous videos. I'm guessing the design production is finalled?

I think the newest video shows that they are in more of a production phase than a "prototyping and figuring out the problems" phase.  This project was probably a learning experience for them due to all the unforeseen issues that can come up with producing a simple item in quantity.

Well, very good private key storage system. The only thing is that you can not use it, if you go through metal detector like in banks, airports etc.  Wink But in any case - nice gift also for Christmas for BTC geek  Grin

Interesting Compact Confidential Transactions conversation happening here now:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1085436

I hope this can be implemented into CryptoNote (Monero or Boolberry) before Bitcoin

It really needs implemented in bitcoin as well simply because of the user base.  Bitcoin is in dire need of privacy specific upgrades.

I'm not gonna lie guys; ever since I got loudly and publicly involved in cryptocurrency a year ago, there's been no end to the digital fuckery I have experienced and suspected on my personal machines.

I have a Windows laptop for internet browsing and games (no cryptocurrency activity on this machine), and even after a fresh install, within weeks it will inexplicably begin to stutter and pause before saving any file.  I run pretty solid Malware Bytes scans, MSE instances and a Firefox browser with ad-block and Noscript; I'm not a wizard, but I'm not a dummy.  There is no reason why a top-of-the-line computer that was reformatted a month ago should be stuttering randomly and lagging when doing things as simple as saving a picture off the internet.

As well, my cell phone began about November of last year to pause randomly to lose (possibly hijack) the internet connection.  It shows pinging or 'upload' status in the network icon during these moments.  Attempts to use downloaded apps to figure out what IP addresses it's connecting to during these times have only resulted in gibberish or proxies.  This behavior persists no matter how many times I 'reformat' my phone.

This is kind of shit is increasingly pissing me off - I have come to accept that if I become prominent in crypto I will likely end up getting monitored pretty hard despite being open and honest about my actions, but whatever backdoor nonsense is happening is actually affecting the performance of my computer which is ridiculous.  Perhaps I'm being paranoid, but also perhaps not.

If you are reading this, your shit is weak and gives off tell tale signs of a system being compromised - get it together.

 Angry

Software-wise, I have about the same setup as you.  A few years ago I built a new computer.  This time, though, I ditched the Micron branded memory (I was having all sorts of problems with it) and went with G.Skill.  Also installed a 2nd gen SSD from Intel.  So for about 6 years now, this PC runs like brand new.  No issues really.  Rock solid.  So, like GingerAle has stated, you RAM may be bad.  Also, if you don't use an SSD as your primary OS drive, this is one of the best upgrades you can make.

Also, to stay on topic, I have noticed that XMR/USD is quite stable.  And on another tangent, I wonder if its really a good idea to base XMR speculation on USD rather than BTC.
