The new version is finally ready. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.8a from here:

https://phoenixminer.info/downloads/PhoenixMiner_5.8a_Windows.zip
https://phoenixminer.info/downloads/PhoenixMiner_5.8a_Linux.tar.gz

Changes in version 5.8a :
  • Added lock core clock
  • Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RTX 3060/3080/3090 cards
  • Implemented new "turbo" kernels (-clkernel 3) for AMD Polaris cards that can work with the current DAG sizes over 4 GB. Note that -clkernel 3 uses double the VRAM and will
provide slightly faster hashrate with slightly higher power consumption. You can use the -rvram command-line parameter to specify how much VRAM to be left unused
  • Increased the maximum supported DAG epoch to 600 (i.e. until about Sep 2023)
  • Implemented full hardware control for AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux. Note that with these cards under Linux you need to specify relative core voltage: e.g. -
cclock -50 will set the core voltage to be 50 mV under the default value
  • Added ROCr kernels for Vega, Radeon VII and Navi cards. With these kernels you will be able to run these cards with Linux drivers 20.45 and later but the performance will
be lower than with the older PAL drivers and kernels. We recommend using AMD Linux driver 20.30 for all cards except RX6900/6800/6700
  • Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux (there is no need to run these cards with -clkernel 0 anymore)
  • Added support for AMD Windows drivers up to 21.8.1. Note that Radeon VII cards will not work with drivers 21.6.1 or higher - you need to use older drivers for proper
    operation of these cards
  • Added support for AMD Linux drivers up to 21.20 (use older drivers for Vega or Radeon VII cards as they will not work with 21.20). Note that the latest 21.30 drivers are
not supported (and the initial testing shows that even the older Polars cards are not working properly with them, so avoid 21.30 for now)
  • Numerous other fixes and small improvements

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.8a

does that merchant end up having to pay(via chargebacl) for doing the transaction with the customer who had the bad gift card?
I think NO, if they keep paying for every chargebacks than they will end up being bankrupt. Once the card is used, i don't think merchants will be responsible for any chargebacks.

i am going to continue to do research on this.

i am scared to accept gift cards , i do not fully understand the charge-back policy in the case that the gift card turns out to be fraudulent.

if the gift card is spent.. the gift card issuer will do a chargeback on tbhe merchant where the giftcard was spent?
Yes if the gift card is spent before the card owner claims chargeback than buyers may not loss anything. However if he have used those gift card to purchase some physical goods which need to be delivered to his address, he may get legal issue in future if the amount is quite big.

what about the merchant that the fraudster used to buy the products with the bad gift card?

does that merchant end up having to pay(via chargebacl) for doing the transaction with the customer who had the bad gift card?

with credit/ debit cards.. a merchant can get assurance they are doing the transaction with the correct person because the name on the id will match the name on the card. and so on and so fourth.

but with a gift card.. anyone can use it... it wont matter what ID is used...

how does the gift card issuer determine who bought the gift card who can use it and when it has been used UN authorized?

I never heard of any gift card services asking for ID personally. Usually, people buy using stolen credit cards (doesn't need to be physically stolen, the numbers are more then enough) (carding) and they sell gift cards because It's the easiest thing to get and could get sold for bitcoin which is irreversible, then the gift card will get revoked and no longer works because the real owner of the card contacted the company that issued the credit card and told them that the transaction is not authorized by him.

In other words, the gift card issuer don't know anything. If the company who issued the credit card chargeback the transaction, the gift card issuer will take action based on that, as simple as that.

so if a merchant accepts a gift card.

that gift card was bought with a stolen CC. ..
that stolen CC owner issues a chargeback... then the funds that purchased the gift card are "charged back" and the gift card is invalid.

if the gift card is spent.. the gift card issuer will do a chargeback on tbhe merchant where the giftcard was spent?

How do charge backs on gift cards work? Does each gift card have their own separate policy?
