I am very confused.

I found out about this currency two weeks ago. I acted on it because it will meet the needs of an idea of mine and now I am coming to realize it challenges the powers that be. I never expected much out of its current form since it is so young.

What is confusing is that people are declaring it dead because it can't maintain a constant price after an increase over 1000 times? I really don't understand this. Somebody please tell me how Bitcoin is suffering right now? From what I am seeing it has had great progress. I don't see anything to complain about.

I don't want to pay taxes, but I also don't want to rely upon government services. Unfortunately, they do not allow competition, so I have no choice.

There is plenty of competition.  There are 196 countries in the world for you to choose from and find the government most to your liking.  There are plenty of countries that will let you live as a subsistence farmer and never trouble you for taxes at all.

I have visited about 19 of them and lived in four seperate continents. Different sceneries, different people but different political systems? No. You have to look where the money flows, my friend. Political sovereignty today is a myth. If we look at the UN and our current banking system, there is now a higher power and it isn't our governments. I don't know why people haven't figured this out yet. We are becoming more globalized by the second. We'll see if the coming powers know what they are doing.

That's where networking effects come in, and what the community needs to build. Even people who hate facebook and twitter eventually join just because their friends are on there. If bitcoin starts being accepted everywhere, even SomethingAwfull goons will have no choice but to embrace it.

Have a look at Red's post. It's a good post that details the problem.
You think Tenebrix was unfair with 7M premined coins? Well, try Bitcoin that in about a year will have 50% premined. A tiny minority controls 50% of all coins, leaving the rest of the world to split the rest. If the rich minority stop mining, which they won't do. Try to get acceptance for that system from those who believe that the current elite have a too big share of the wealth.
Since when has wealth been a limited pie? I'm lost with you folks.

Bitcoin is still sinking in for me but I think you are all being impatient. Bitcoin has only existed as a open-source project for two years. It has done very well in comparison to similar open-source innovations. I don't get the fuss over "a lack of adoption" when it's doing just fine.

Red makes an excellent analysis in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=48521.0

we human being are created from monkey (maybe God works step by step, too), and monkey know about "fairness", too.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/09/0917_030917_monkeyfairness.html

the distribution of bitcoin is not fair.

Those who say that they deserve every coin they mine are not honest enough, if they at the same time consider bitcoin is an alternative currency system to our traditional fiat money system.

I don't remember when primates became the objective standard of economic equality. As a strong advocate of evolution, I also know that we came from an ancestor to primates and not directly from them.

Anyways, fairness is arbitrary. The fact is people who hold Bitcoins aren't hurting anybody.

Does anybody know who this guy is? For some reason I can't message him.

It is he who is known as I am.  Or just Atlas.  He had a huge SomethingAwful following https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=48257.0
Had? Where did he go? Is this the same Atlas who stole a dollar and some change?

I am about to add some technologies I've been experimenting with to the TF2 trading system and make things a little easier for people who make money with this gig, through Bitcoins.

Good luck, I think people have looked into similar things https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=23516.0

I like to be private. However, I will say I enjoyed my recent trip to Illinois. That's a grand state you live in.

What is the average age on this forum?

I once read that it's 21.4 years, which isn't to bad.

Ha. Well, I need some youth in my blood especially with what I am working on.

What specifically are you working on?
I'll give you a backstory:

A couple years back I began to get severe arithritis in my hip and it limited what I usually did. My grandson let me sit in on his gaming and I gradually began to play myself; eventually I got myself setup with a PC. I used to be a horse trader back in the day and I liked how in Team Fortress 2 you can trade the items and commodities you earn.

I am about to add some technologies I've been experimenting with to the TF2 trading system and make things a little easier for people who make money with this gig; through Bitcoins.

In the end, I'm glad I'm seeing the world change from the inside-out and now that I'm able to do my part.

That's...that's...that's such a beautiful story, man.

It's just me keeping my mind active. I could of easily chosen to be idle for the rest of my days.

Don't ever retire.

Same as you. Late high schoolish.
I don't know what gave you that impression. I finished my time long ago.

What are your thoughts on slaves, a person's value to society, and rough sex?
Interesting.

I don't prefer slavery but coercion is inevitable. I accept it as human nature. As for value: I value a lot of people. I don't know what else to say to that. As for sex, it gets boring after awhile.

Why does it matter if I am early? I am looking at LiteCoin and it seems like a complete copy of Bitcoin with little differences. Isn't a more popular crypto-currency more secure anyways?

Ragnar = Atlas parody from SA

Can we finally move on now?
I really shouldn't bother with this for the third time. I'm still curious. What is SA?
