Given Cash -> Btc time, I am not expecting to have enough coins in my wallet until early next week.

Will the order go in at 300, or will there be a firm order date?

Unfortunately, there will be no compiling of any sort on this Windows machine, its not set up for dev.

Does that mean I am pretty much SOL until I have time to do that?

So I am assuming it will take me 10 minutes to be automatically processed to get out of here, but if that doesn't happen, can someone please let me out of newbie jail? thanks.

I guess I didn't post anything that shows I know something about bitcoins, but here is a picture of  of the first miner I built (before my 7870s and PSU arrived). I had to use tinsnips to remove the entire backplate of the case since it was a OEM Dell case and the board wouldn't fit.

what GPU is that?

haha, I dont even know. Some random PCI-E card that was sitting in my pile.

Just wanted to make sure everything was working for when my other cards/parts arrived.

Got a 7870(Pitcairn) for my desktop (Win 8 - 64 bit) while waiting for my old card to go in for warranty replacement. Not overclocking for now, because my desktop isn't great on ventilation.

Running 13.4 Catalyst and APP SDK 2.8

On my dedicate mining machine (Win 7 -32 bit) and with my previous desktop card (6770), I used BFGMiner with no issues.

Now, BFGMiner (3.0.2 win64) crashes out instantly unless I am using poclbm, which even though the console hasrate is high, it is giving me garbage performance on every pool I try it on (Eligius, BTCGuild, Deepbit). I assume this is due to poclbm and stratum issues.

If I use CGMiner, with any kernel, including poclbm, there are no issues including with stratum, other than poclbm tends to overstate its hashrate in the console.

Any ideas on what I can do to get BFGMiner to run? I would rather use the same client for all my machines.

I am interested, but really depends on when it comes to market.

<$50 would be nice, but it all depends on when that product is in my hands.

$200 now is potentially a better price than $50 in Sept/Oct (to lazy to do math, but you get my point).

Put me in for 1 right now.

If timing of the buy works out, with me being available and having liquid BTC, I might increase it at that point, which I assume is no problem, due to the order being a minimum, correct?

Just out of curiosity, what is the plan when orders start? Its easy to say that 300 people have committed to buy, but it is much harder to say that 300 people have transferred the bitcoins.

Just wondering why you are not accepting transfers right away, as it would gauge real interest and allow people to 'buy' and be done with it. The reason is, I might be pretty busy coming up and might not have time to watch the thread and get in on a buy, or watch for changes etc.

LEGIT REPLY: My friend supposedly  Recieved his Asic today from BTL.  Hes still trying to get it setup though. apparently its pretty complex to setup.  I'll let yall know if he gets it working or not.

How can running a miner be complex? I would love details on this, as I have obviously never used an asic miner.

Apparently I don't have enough posts to post outside of this forum, so I will just repeat that BFL is not a scam, but they are likely guilty of incompetence or overpromising.

Right, and that equilibrium is determined by the cost (both hardware and electrical) of running whatever the widely available 'best' is.

Running Miner as Service
by

Hello,

Just got into bitcoin mining a couple months ago, playing around with it a little bit, but nothing too serious.

I am looking for a way to run a miner as a service. My nephew is wanting me to build him a new PC and says if I buy him a card to put in it, I can mine from it while he is not using it, since he only games a couple hours a night. Now, I admire his spirit in getting a good video card without saving the money for it, plus it gives me a chance to increase my hashrate, but I wonder if it is possible to have something run as a service in the background, even if he isn't logged in.

Anyone know of a way to do this? He would be running Windows 7 or 8.

My thoughts on mining and difficulty are that the difficulty will always settle at a point that is relative to the amount of money people are willing to spend on the widest available production method.

If the most efficient (and widely available) hardware you can buy is 5Mh/s/dollar, then the majority of miners will use that hardware and the network hashrate will rise accordingly. This means, that unless you are on the leading edge with a new piece of hardware, you can never really gain much advantage.

For example, if Bob the statistically average miner maintains $1000 worth of mining hardware, and upgrades at a rate that is also average, he will never really progress in terms of his share of the entire network hashrate, which means he will always (again, on average) generate bit coins at a constant rate, assuming he is keeping up with the available technology.

Then again, I am a newb, so what do I know.
