Re: Baikal Giant N - Cryptonight, Cryptonight-lite ASIC miner

i will bail out on this one, to expensive, 1250$ would be a good price, but they will find enough sheeps who buy that miner...

Hopefully they won't. But the uninformed masses never cease to amaze me. This thing is dead on arrival. I'd love to see baikal lose millions with this ASIC due to all the major coins switching algos (Monero and IPBC confirmed so far) but they've probably already made their investment back by mining with these for a few months before announcing them, unfortunately.

They can change algos as many times they like, if it stays below or at 1mb requirement you will be able to mine it with asic

No, you won't be able to. You can't reprogram an Application Specific Integrated Circuit. If it were an FPGA, then yes, they could potentially make it work with a new algo.

Do we know if that asic is FPGA or ASIC, to many people FPGA is "asic" too

Monero POW is changing to CryptoNightV7 in about 15 days, so I don't think you can sell this as a monero miner..

Just saying  Roll Eyes

They can change pow as many times they want, if its stays 1mb then they can mine it, same as gpus, only big thing is if they increase MB requirement, but i heard that 10GB asic miners are coming so, even ETH, ETC, ZCASH will be dead for gpu miners

I hope that upcoming Monero hardfork will kill this at least for Monero. But the rest Cryptonight coins will be pretty much suffer for GPU mining.
Same with Nicehash, if the hardfork will disable Monero for Nicehash all the mining power will go to ETN, SUMO, ITNS probably and without firmware update the same with this ASIC.

I'm very curious about the power consumption 20kH/s at 60W? When I forget to turn off the lights in bathroom I have higher power consumption there Cheesy

Baikal only sells in MOQ 5 and MOQ 10. Someone should set up a buying pool as I'm sure these will be pricey. I have contacted Baikal about price, but haven't heard back. I'll update when I do.

Just got the email.

Re: VEGA 56 Zcash

You should be getting 440 h/s by default on Vega56; 520 h/s optimized. With a VBIOS modification, you'll be hitting around 630-640 h/s.

Your hashrate will be heavily dependent on your cards voltage (and thus, temperature).

Thanks so vega 56 can beat 1070 without problem on zcash

Unless every single coin major coin makes the switch to PoS or other non PoW consensus mechanisms, I don't think mining will be going anywhere any time soon.

~ 17 280 eth mined daily, ~ 15 Million dollars daily. I think we would feel that dent.
Right now it's 210 Th/s on the eth network, and you need 34 000 rx polaris for 1 Th. Those gpus will search for a home.
How many gpus are mining shitcoins, that would be nice to know.

Nah, you need one coin to move to pos and we are out of businesses, and thats ETH which their POS is in testnet, all other coins combine doesnt have 20% of gpus that ETH have.

Well at least the Monero team have gone out and said they will make the coin Asic proof with subtle code changes
heh they can do whatever they want if this thing have over 10gb its over, you can mine every coin with it. But ETH is in testnet for POS so few more months and it will move from pow to pos, same thing with ETC so you will have monero which isnt so profitable and Zcash

Porez 2
by
Raziel__
on 09/09/2017, 16:15:31 UTC

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin 43.6 mhs at 175w
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIvy0vMNk4A
next couple month we'll see 50++ at low power
dual mining dcr almost 3ghs, nice profit then, not suprise vega out of stock, some ppl bought ton of them
43mhs for a card that cost 600$, not profitable for now at all, 3x rx570 at 500$ is doing about 88mhs, vega needs to do about 60mhs minimum.

I grabbed a Vega 64 for test. (all claymore)

Eth mining 34mh stock with last AMD driver,
37mh with blockchain beta driver, and 41mh with simple OC.

less than 500h/s ZEC mining with last claymore.

Very noisy. Fan not under control.

The main issue with VEGA is that I can't do anything about voltage.
This is grayed in Afterburner.

I was thinking to set voltage in claymore, but I don't know the stock one. It doesn't appear in AB, and even gpu-z doesn't show it.
I don't know if this is because of Beta drivers or not.
If you have ideas, I can try !

500h/s zec is epic fail for vega, did claymore even updated miners for vega at all? Even 41mh on ETH is not worth it. Everything below 60mh is a failure in my opinion.

Re: How many times needed to clean the mining rig?
by
Raziel__
on 23/08/2017, 13:09:31 UTC
I do it every two months. Rugs are more notorious for giving off even more dust, so make sure you check for dust on your rig if it is present and just take a bicycle pump or can of compressed air and get it off.

I do it when I see the temperature of the rig rises.

Same, but once a month is ok if you ask me.

I'm planning to get a Vega soon, when are you going to add support for it?

In a few days. I don't like the hashrate I see currently, so I need some time to check possible ways to make it work faster.

Vega will release on 14th or 15th of august. Claymore you are using FE right? Will there be differences?

Re: RX Vega Rumored to Hash 70+ Mh/s
by

on 03/08/2017, 22:50:58 UTC
Edit:
Dont get it why was people thinking that vega 64 will mine about 35MH same as FE (which doesnt have drivers, isnt optimized in miners, and overclock) vega 64 have about 120% increase on memory speed over rx 570, but again 64 is using 300wats, and costs about 500$, at the end it is the same thing

That is based on frontier and fury which both are hbm and they hash no more than 35mhs, get your facts straight.

By the way who stirred rumors was gibbo from ocku which in my opinion, that guy would do everything for people to preorder the gpus from his website. I will only believe if he posts anything which for now is a closed case.

"Where did you get that figure?"
"Guy internally from one of the AIB's, maybe he is smoking the BS pipe. "

It seems Gibbo heard from somebody, so point null, move on , nothing to see here yet.

HBM1 (fury is HBM1) and HBM2 isnt the same thing i read somewhere that HMB1 wasnt good for mining, because of latency, but time will tell, we can only speculate for now.

Re: Nvidia vs AMD, Zcash vs Ethereum
by
Raziel__
on 03/08/2017, 22:40:35 UTC
so what happened with CUDA magic on ETH?
Amd memory access is better (specially when you can mod memory straps), that why eth is better on amd, core performance is better optimised with cuda (and nvidia have more speed), that why zcash is better on nvidia.

...or should we say, AMD cards have better memory performance under 2GB but have troubles reaching 2GB+ regions. Unless they really going to fix it in their drivers, I'd say overall nvidia has better memory perf.
Now we are getting somewhere, ETH is more memory speed oriented, of-course core speed is important too, but in ETH memory speed is "more important" with better memory access from miners, amd is doing more MH than gtx, while (Branko was right) in ZEC core speed is "more important" (even on paper gtx have faster core speed) with (better optimization on) cuda gtx is better.

AMD has confirm that they did fixed dag problem.

so.. is it gonna do 1400 sols/s per card as well?.. Roll Eyes
I doubt it. The Ethereum hashing increase is from the new memory interface utilizing the HBM2 memory type. This is what will radically speed up the ETH mining. However the core is most likely nearly the same or hopefully close to the nVidia 1080 ti, so if this card got around 700 SOLs that would be quite a bargin as the card is about half the cost of the 1080 TI.

Faster ETH
Same Equihash
A little less power
30-50% less price (depending)

All those stack up for a hell of a deal!

I fully agree ETH is more memory speed oriented with HBM2 which is in my opinion even better than next gddr6 for mining, we can expect about 70MH, while ZEC is more core speed oriented and vega 64 will be same as 1080ti or lower, we can expect about 680-720sols on 64.

Edit:
